  1. Just over 22 hours remain. Time's running out!
  2. First post updated to show a countdown timer. Best get crack-a-lackin' and get your times in before it expires.
  3. lol I thought I had replied to your intro, but then again, I was accessing from my phone. It obviously didn't reach the server, hence, nothing from me. Anyway, Blinx... you're still my fellow brony. Brohoof? (\
  4. You don't need to prove your times. Just send me a PM with them once they're finished. Trust me, I will know if they are legitimate. ...and hurry... there's just over 5 days to go, to beat all 3 games.
  5. And this is why I don't deal with wikis.
  6. Find yourself a stopwatch, and once you've pressed START on the title screen, start the timer. Once you see the words THE END after beating the game, pause the timer, and write down the total time. Don't forget, it has to be a full run, so if you stop playing at all during the game, you will have to start all over again from the beginning.
  7. The similarities are moot. In life, there are things that are similar to other things, and we instantly cry "ZOMG DAT IZ RIPOFF!!!11", but actually, it could have been inspired from that very thing we are defending. Take a look at the snippet from my story which I'm working on... it is heavily inspired by sci-fi series such as Star Trek, Stargate SG-1, and Mass Effect. However, there are a lot of my own things in it which separate it enough from those series, and makes it somewhat more original. In relation to this topic, I would say that there is no justification for these claims.
  8. Just over a week to go. Make sure to get your times in by the deadline! I've also updated the first post with the names of forum members who are participating in this challenge. If your name isn't on there yet, make a post here to indicate you are participating.

  10. Welcome to the official hub for The GCN's Community Challenges! This is where you can find challenges set forth by the administration team, with the chance to win prizes, as well as a place in what we have dubbed The Winner's Circle. However, there are certain guidelines that each challenge will have, and they must be adhered to. Here are some other guidelines for you to follow when using this forum: GUIDELINES Topics can only be created by those in staff and administrative positions, however, replies are accepted from other groups. Replies are to be kept civil at all times. Each challenge will have a set time-frame. Anyone who does not complete the challenge in time shall therein forefeit said challenge. You must have your appropriate documentation sent to the appropriate Gamemaster via PM, by the due time and date. Gameplay must be completed in a single run. Time must be recorded from the moment you press START on the title screen, until the end of the credits sequence (usually when THE END, or similar is shown). Save states are not to be used. Upon completion of a challenge, you must send a PM to the appropriate Gamemaster. DO NOT post your results in public. They will be made available in public once each challenge has reached its expiry date. In addition, upon submission of a record, the participant will be added to the list of contenders. Gamemasters are not permitted to enter challenges. They may, however, still play the games and record their times, just for documentation. The Gamemasters have final say. Do not question their judgement, otherwise you may face disqualification. Prizes are randomly chosen amongst Gamemasters, and are awarded to the appropriate winner, along with a place in The Winner's Circle. Prizes may include, and are not limited to, digital media, money (paid into PayPal), and physical media, such as games, DVDs, books, etc. Where digital media prizes are awarded, they are not to be distributed to anyone else, otherwise, the recipient may face an instant disqualification from all future challenges. The administration reserve the right to make any modifications to the rules at any time. We hope you have fun in these challenges.
  11. Heh... we shall see. Also, I just realised I said December instead of October. Fixing first post.
  12. I'm wondering how many people will try this. I will also be hosting similar challenges in the future, using retro games as a base.
  13. Easy. I'm a pro at all three games, and have already completed them all. I expect people to make mistakes, and if the times are off, I'll know they likely cheated. It's more of a trust thing. Oh, and since I'm hosting this, I won't be entering. I just wanted to record my times.
  14. While I do like the golden Triforce, and the nice inner glow of the ZELDA text, the rest of it doesn't seem to flow as well. The fonts used look out of place to me. Still, it's a nice job, but I do rather the one that Zeth made.
  15. Correct. They did, indeed. However, I'm not too fond of the Wii U's controls. I'm surprised they managed to get away with it being so close to the Xbox 360's style.
  16. First post updated to include information about a prize.
  17. Gamemaster: Shadow Fire REMAINING TIME TIME HAS EXPIRED! You are all hereby challenged to play the three games in the Adventures of Lolo series. For those of you not in the know, the Lolo games are based on the Eggerland puzzle series, which was released in Japan in the 80s. Adventures of Lolo is a compilation of various Eggerland puzzles, released on the Nintendo Entertainment System, in an attempt to introduce the series to the West. The game was so well received, it received two sequels. However, the first title was not released in Japan, due to it being a compilation of previous puzzles. In Japan, Adventures of Lolo 2 was simply Adventures of Lolo, with the Western version of Lolo 3 being Japan's Lolo 2. The Japanese games were modified to be more difficult, and trust me, they are. However, for the sake of this challenge, only the US versions are to be used. CONTENTS The download pack will contain the following: The Adventures of Lolo [*]The Adventures of Lolo 2 [*]The Adventures of Lolo 3 [*]VirtualNES [*]A copy of the rules and some info [*]3 text files, titled after their respective game, for you to record your times, date of completion, and any comments you may have for each game RULES There will be a few rules in place to allow for a fair go: [*]You must complete all 3 games. Each game must be completed in a full, single run, for a total of 3 runs. Upon completion of each run, you must record the time it took you to complete that run. [*]The clock must be initiated upon pressing START, stopping only once the screen locks into place and the words THE END are shown. [*]No save states are to be used. [*]You are not permitted to use passwords. Passwords are given in Lolo/Lolo 2 upon loss of all 5 lives. However, you can still continue from the exact level you left off. Even upon earning a GAME OVER, time must keep ticking while you select CONTINUE. [*]No game guides are permitted to be used, aside from the original instruction manuals which can be found online. [*]Sound must be enabled, and playing clearly for you. For the best experience, the music and sounds are necessary. [*]External controllers are permitted, to make things easier (or harder, depending on your setup). [*]Do not post your times here. Instead, send me a PM with the provided text files, subject name being Adventures of Lolo Challenge. The community challenge will have a deadline: 10:00PM on October 1, 2012 (Australian Eastern Standard Time). You can use an online timezone converter to find out when exactly that is in your timezone, or simply look at the provided countdown timer above. PRIZE The person with the fastest overall time (determined when combining all 3 runs) will be awarded with a prize. In addition, if the #1 place has a lower time than myself, I will also throw in a $10 prize (providing said user has PayPal). CONTENDERS [*]wolfkid12 [*]ZethN64 (WINNER) DOWNLOAD To download the pack and get started, click here. Download, and enjoy! Good luck!

  20. Pretty much any ending. It was such a bittersweet way to end the series, but my heartstrings are tugged most with the femshep romance with Garrus. The two are perfect for one another, and then in one move, no matter which one you do, it's ripped away. The saddest part for me was Garrus placing Shepard's name on the memorial plaque.
  21. Europe and Australia confirmed to be receiving the Wii U on November 30. No idea why we have a fucking 12 day wait, but at least we're not last. I am rather surprised that Japan is getting it last. Since Nintendo's main HQ are in Japan, I figured they'd be the first to have the Wii U.
  22. This sums up one of my Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 experiences recently:
  23. In light of my renewed love for the Care Bears Family, have a video that I found on YouTube. I think it fits, lol.
