Well, obviously you would play the game normally first. But after playing TP 20+ times (for me anyway), you might want to run it a bit differently. I mean, you don't pick up the new game and then immediately speedrun it, you got to play it normally first to know the correct route. Now, with Zelda I do glitch hunting pretty early on, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. Zelda is seriously really fun to run because of the superb coding weirdness that goes into it. TP in general is a coding nightmare when it comes to cutscenes and between link and wolf link, twilight, non-twilight. The game gets so effed up, it's amazing.

Twilight Princess for me, I worked on a 100% single-segment speedrun until I got a job and didn't have 7+ hours to work on it. I've also done an any% which is way more fun to learn because of the funky glitches in it. For sure get the GC version though, it has better glitches. I own the Japanese version of OOT on console, it's pretty easy to find on Ebay, and just take the dust covers off the N64 and it'll work just fine. SS tricks are just...not very fun to watch. It's mostly BIT stuff and weird warp stuff that goes on. I've watched a speedrun of it and TP is more fun to watch. But I know what's going on in TP, so...yeah.

That's what I said when they reported it. What? Behold the derpiness of the stalchildren. And I had a big one pop up almost immediately. O.o

Okay, I'm having some people do testing on the ROM right now from my youtube channel, and I've gotten some reports back from them about things. There are very mild spoilers for the game, however, no story spoilers, so read at your own risk depending on how you want to experience the hack. First Issue: Grottos Way back when I first learned about exits and all that good stuff, I had this idea that I would use the grottos as a sort of warping point to get from one part of the field to the other as a thing to apologize for not learning Prelude until way later on, and not learning Serenade of Water at all. This was unfortunately too complicated for me to put into effect, but now I have a very bad side effect going on--most of the grottos have become one grotto from the Lost Woods. Now...I'm not sure how to fix this because I'm not really sure what I've done to make it this way. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Second Issue: Zelda This isn't really an issue, more of a question. Is there any way to have Zelda check for the first Spiritual Stone? I would like to have her check it as an anti-sequence break. Third Issue: Zora Diving Game The Zora doesn't give you the prize when you're done with the game, he says the text to come up and get it, but does not give it to you. This is not mandatory to beat the game, so it's not a huge thing, but I would like the ability to get the silver scale just in case. Fourth Issue: Stalchildren For some strange reason, the stalchildren cannot be killed. You hit them, and they slide backwards for infinity. O.o Just what. If any more issues pop up, I will be posting them in here in this thread.

I didn't like SS as much as other Zelda games because basically the whole overworld was a dungeon...and that kinda sucked. I wanted more exploration like TP had in it. The Zelda in SS is cool, but Impa was WAY cooler. Though why is she so stick-thin?

I'm happy now. Sucks to lose your job, but if you cause it, then you deserve it. Also, was reading the comments in that article, and came across this comment: What do you guys think? Adding: Even if the rumors do turn out to be nothing but rumors, I think Microsoft should have handled these rumors way better. Why such the deafening silence on their end if it isn't true? Why take the chance to lose potential customers? Even if they announce that it won't have to be always online or it's able to play used games, the whole thing has left a very bad taste in many people's mouths. Now, while I think that perhaps judging the whole company one one man is harsh, it still leaves me very un-wanting to do business with them. I only just got a 360 near the middle of last year because it was cheap, and I wanted to play a few games I wouldn't have the chance to otherwise. And I like it, it's very enjoyable. I would have to think very long and very hard about supporting the new Xbox, even if the rumors turn out to be false. One person can indeed ruin a company's reputation. And MS really needs to address this. Watch them just announce something on Kinect and that be it.

Implementing the Master GUI - INITIAL MOCKUP exe READY!

It was how I was first taught to edit text....and it's a very old video. -
Implementing the Master GUI - INITIAL MOCKUP exe READY!

Looks cool so far, however in the OOT Text/Scroll of time section, cutscenes is spelled custscenes. Very minor, but hey, it's a thing. Overall, I'm liking the approach to this, it's very user friendly. I must mention though that the "manual text editing how to" does link to a video that shows how to decompress a rom as well as using hex editing. To provide less confusion, I can make a new video specifically dealing with the debug rom if need be, otherwise, I would specify that one doesn't have to go through the process of decompressing the already-decompressed rom if people are using this. It might cause confusion, especially to those who don't know the difference. Let me know which is easier for you to implement. -

lol, I know, everytime I mention rice, someone will call me out, but by god, it works for me. Glide doesn't work for me. XD -
Opening the XML didn't work for me. Yes, I did try that. I have to click new scene, then import the collision model (obj file), then go to rooms and add a room. Importing the whole XML file doesn't work for some reason. It gives you an unexpected error (at least for me). *shrug*

The thing is, when I first started, I couldn't figure out HOW to open up the dungeon demo, because you have to know to click on two different tabs to import it in. A readme is useful if it explains the functions and how to do something, to me that's what a readme is for. After I was told how to import a map, then I could look at it. Until you get it into the program, it's useless.

To get rid of the "fuzz" on the debug menu, open up the rom, then go to plugins-->current game options (make sure your advanced options are shown) then click on TMEM emulation, and that should fix the problem. Uncheck hid advanced options in the general options tab. Hopefully that'll fix the problem, and your rom should be good to go at that point. (I duck because Rice is an old plugin, but it works for me. XD) -

giadrosich replied to giadrosich's question in Q & A
Figured it out. You aren't doing anything wrong. It's the plugin you're using. Are you using Jabo3D6 1.5.2? If you are, it won't display the colours directly. If you switch to Rice's video 6.1.1 plugin (the one I use *ducks things thrown at me*) the colours will come out right. Here's what you'll see if you switch: If you've taken advice from how to set up your rom properly, I need to update that with the correct items, and I apologize. EDIT: Yeah, I need to update that setting up tutorial. I've learned a few things since then about the best setup. As for uploading a picture, I just use photobucket, then use the IMG brackets the website provides for you. -
SharpOcarina I could not figure out straight out of the box. This is it's major flaw. I had to get someone else to show me how to work it. I read the readme, and it was no help. Just being honest. It's intimidating. There's a lot of buttons and knobs that I don't know what they do, and don't even know how to ask what they do. Like the term "waterbox". When I was first starting, my thoughts were "This makes no sense to me, what is it, how is this used, how do I put it into the map and what does it change?" There's no indication you have to click two tabs to import your map, this didn't make sense until shown to me. There's also no indication on helping with going to a different area. You have to click on another tab to imput the information for that. I was going crazy trying to figure out why the whole map was taking me somewhere rather than the one area I highlighted. Once again, someone else had to tell me to click on a different tab and input the correct number at the bottom. Now, obviously, this is what tutorials are for. But I think what would make ANY program awesome is a built-in tutorial mode. You download the program, open it up, and it says "hey, would you like to use the tutorial? Yes/no". If you accidentally hit no, you can then access it in a menu. Then, when you access it, for example, you choose "import map tutorial" and then it shows you what to click on outlined in little red boxes. If this doesn't make sense, I can post a screenshot of what I mean. That way, the user is still having to go through the motions of importing their map, but it's being shown at the same time. You'll still have to make the map in a different program of course, then import it, but with everything they need like adding the collision to go to a different area, this could be shown. They would still have to know the numbers to input (unless you use a drop-down menu with labels of the different areas you'd like to go to), but then they wouldn't get lost.

No problem, glad they helped! The only thing I can suggest is make sure your offset is typed in correctly or try out the secondary program (Navi Colour Changer) for it instead of doing it in hex. I have not used that program, so hopefully it'll work for you. If it still doesn't work, post up a screenshot of the offset you are editing. Remember to look at the first three bytes, that deals with the inner glow, it's easy to mess up and click on the wrong byte, so just double-check what you're doing. Are you having trouble with any other offsets, or just the normal body and enemy offsets? -
I shop at five different used game stores-- TNT Games, Disc Replay, GameCorner, Gamestop, and GameWorlds. They are all within 15-20 minutes from my apartment. Gamestop is about a minute up the road within the same strip mall as Walmart. I have no preference between them, other than complaining to myself that the owner of GameWorlds knows rare stuff when he gets it in and you'll never see it just sitting on the shelf. The only problem I have with Gamestop is that they don't sell older games. But I don't expect them too--I don't think of them as a used game store. I mainly hit up my local gamestop just to see what they're throwing away that week. I usually get some sort of advertisment for it--I've got about 10-15 hangups advertising games, and I know the manager there, and she outright gave me the Assassin's Creed cardstock poster when she took it down because I just asked for it. I preorder games at Gamestop because it's just easier for me to do it that way. If I buy something, I OWN it. I've bought it. It's MINE. I can do whatever the hell I want to do with it now, thank you very much. If they get money off of used games as well, that would be like...double dipping. And no one likes that. Also, quote from the "article" you posted: I have not ONCE been told to buy used. Not one time. In the many, many years I've been gaming. In fact, Gamestop employees should always ask if you want to pre-order something, or if you ask them about a game, they go to the "new" section because there's a quota they have to meet--as with any sales job. I've worked sales, I know how it is. You say anything under the sun to get someone to buy something because your supervisor is breathing down your neck to get another sale. The only games I ever buy new is Zelda, I'll preorder it because I want shiny new packaging for my favorite game series. That's just how I am. Same with Assassin's Creed. Other games, I buy used. There is absolutely no difference at all with used vs. new other than packaging. Anyway, on topic, with the rumors of Microsoft's always on stuff, has there been any sort of news on not allowing used games?

"We are aware of the comments made by an employee on Twitter. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views are not reflective of those of the company. We have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter." Then fire the man. There's no way he should have a job after that. That was piss-poor customer interaction. As I worked in the field of customer service and talking with customers for 8 hours a day on a phone, as I said above, I would have been fired so fast if I had told someone to "#dealwithit". Lord knows I've wanted to say deal with it on many occasions. If they buy the console and enjoy it, that's all well and good, but if it does have online always (Perhaps there's a chance it'll change, maybe, with all the people against it.), know that one day it's going to be a paperweight. None of this 30 years later it still works stuff.

It would be cool if we could go straight to credits with a BiT. Have you posted any of this on zeldaspeedruns forum? I used to run TP 100% and any%, so I would be interested in anything new that could come of this.

Video Tutorials To Get Started and Master Tool List
giadrosich replied to giadrosich's question in Q & A
Nothing against the tool, just some feedback for it to make it better: The main problem I had with Scroll of Time was the search function actually. For some reason, I think it only searches for the first box in a string of text, vs the Text tool where you can search anywhere in the string (at least in OOT, have not done any testing whatsoever in MM). When working with Scroll, I had a text dump open in one window as well as the game, that way I could search the first box of text. The tool can also get rid of some important things in the coding, and I'm not quite sure why it does it when you aren't editing any of the hex. There needs to be some bug testing with the tool to figure out why it does that. Multiple times I've had softlocks happen because of the program getting rid of the "go to the next text box" coding, and then I had to compare in hex what exactly went wrong. If working with OOT, the Text Tool with notepad is the best way to do it if you're editing large amounts of text. I would use Scroll for a very small amount of text. -
Ah, that makes sense, cool.

I thought you could BITE right at the start by clipping through the first gate with the rock, it's a pretty simple trick.

Video Tutorials To Get Started and Master Tool List
giadrosich replied to giadrosich's question in Q & A
Added some misc offsets for people who would be interested in changing the block speed as well as six medallion check. (Also added fierceshinigami's decompressed 1.0 offsets - I have not checked those personally, a verification of this would be appreciated. Not saying it's wrong, but just want it verified so accidental wrong information doesn't get passed along.) Eventually I'll get around to adding all the misc stuff into one tutorial video so it doesn't clutter the first post. -

I'm being VERY hush-hush on the story, I don't want to reveal a thing. In the new trailer I kind of give a tiny glimpse of what the story is going to be, but I really don't want to spoil it, because the main meat of this mod is the story itself. Off topic @Cosecant Yep, we met through TVtropes of all places and he invited me to co-commentate on his Majora's Mask LP, and it grew from there. Two years later, we got married.
