"Master" GUI application for "all" Zelda modding apps
giadrosich replied to haddockd's topic in Community Projects
I'm all for easy user interaction and simple guides within the programs. Without it, the community isn't going to see mods very often. I wish I could help with it, but I'm pretty useless on this front. But you can be assured it would be used from me. -
I downloaded it real quick and tried it with about three different plugins for Nemu64. Jabo doesn't load it at all, rice is broken text and missing graphics, and Nemu64 Graphics has this weird squished screen thing going on. Your best bet seems to be the Nemu64 graphics, though. However, there are still odd graphical glitches going on, but it does run. The only other thing I found on it was this video: And it still doesn't run it properly, the video was the results I was getting with Nemu64 graphics plugin. I also got no sound for some odd reason. I'm by no means an expert on this, though. Someone else will for sure have better answers.

Video Tutorials To Get Started and Master Tool List
giadrosich replied to giadrosich's question in Q & A
I thought I answered it pretty well, unless you mean something else. Make a tool that consolidates - add/change/remove the objects/actors/landscape (Sayaka and UOT), change text (text tool), put in custom maps (sharp ocarina), exchange simple textures like the shield and interface buttons (no idea what tool uses this other than ZLE2). But like I said, not sure if that's possible. XD Sorry if I misunderstood the question. -
Video Tutorials To Get Started and Master Tool List
giadrosich replied to giadrosich's question in Q & A
Well, what I want is something that probably can't be done. Frankly, shoving all the tools into one thing would be fantastic. You could have a basic newbie tool for what most people want to do when they mod Zelda--add/change/remove the objects/actors, change text, put in custom maps, exchange simple textures like the shield and interface buttons, ect. One tool that you don't have to go at all into hex for. The goal is to get it as simple and user friendly as possible. Yeah, there are individual tool for each of these things, but then you end up with a huge list of tools. One big, glorious tool would be the break Zelda modding needs. You would see some really awesome mods being made then. It's just too intimidating with all the stuff you have to download for the regular normal person. This might be only a dream though, I don't know how this stuff works. I'm hindered way too much by my own lack of knowledge, and this frustrates me. I've learned a lot since I've started, but it's been a very bumpy road. Smoothing things out for new people is really the key that needs to be turned in Zelda modding. You'll never see new mods made with the huge list that is there right now. New people have great ideas, but they just can't incorporate without learning a bunch of other things first. Then you could have a tool for advanced users, who want to do other things that you might not be able to do with the first tool. Since I don't know advanced stuff, I'm not sure if the tools out there are great or not. I'm assuming they are, but I'm geared for the user-friendly side. These are just my thoughts. Whether it can be seen to fruition is the question. -
Well, it was previewed at E3. There must be some sort of copy, even if the game was unfinished, it might be like the Majora's Mask Demo cartridge. Never know. I doubt it would be released any time soon, though, if ever.

I do a ton of research into beta and unreleased items, and I've tracked down a person who worked on the Jet Force Gemini artwork for the GameBoy. There seems to be only one prototype, unreleased of course. I've been calling the studio who employs Nick Lee (the guy who worked on it) and whenever I call he's "never in" or just doesn't answer his phone. I really want to get an interview with him just to see if he can even say anything about it. Meh. Prototypes and beta physical copies are those rare things that collectors want. I own a demo copy of Majora's Mask with the store sticker intact, but not the grey version, which is the rare one.

Yeah, that's a good tool to use, here's simple instructions on how to use it: Make a file name for the ppf by clicking the folder next to PPF File (output). (this is what you name your patch to) Go down to original file and put in the untouched rom. Go to patched file and put in the modified rom. Hit create ppf patch. Thanks, I do appreciate it!

Sorry for lack of updates, I should be getting a trailer together to show off some new footage. Trying to avoid as much as possible spoiling dungeons though--I'm sure you guys understand. I do need someone to help out with a simple thing. I need someone to make an up-c button with the name Tael on it instead of Navi. This would be much appreciated. My computer actually won't do the correct thing with how I've been taught to do textures (thus I had to get sang to do it for me). So I need someone to put it together so I can put it into the ROM. Much appreciated. Let me know either on the thread or in a PM. You will get credit of course.

With about a month left until release, you guys should post up some of the music you've got. For better organization.

Welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay.

I'm a little confused by changing the variable thing, does that mean for example if I put the MS into the Deku Tree as a kid, and then change the variable to 4102 it'll work? EDIT: I keep getting a crash even with the updated patch too. I just kept the variable as FFFF as well.

So what does this mean for time travel anywhere?

Excuse me, I must interject. The Super-Wop is probably the most amazing name I've ever heard for a move in a Zelda game. I now expect Link to break out into some sort of doo-wop song whenever he kills an enemy with it. Okay, I'll go away now.

In light of the recent topic with the media freaking out over girls who game, what other stereotypes (since forth referred to as 'types') need to die? And then there's the problem of people not even understanding what gaming is. I refuse to watch movies about gamers these days, mainly because no one knows how to treat us. I've seen articles on TV shows who even refuse to do the most basic of research on how the system hooks up, how to hold the controller, ect. Sometimes controllers aren't even plugged in! Either people refuse to do their homework on this subject, or they don't think it's worth it. Or they think that only 10% of their audience is going to catch the mistake, which then implies they don't think gamers exist outside of "mom's basements". And where did that type come from? Who decided that was going to be the image of gamers? I'm very tired of having to defend gaming, especially when the media always blames video games for the poor choices. I've seen much more violent movies than games, and I think that's even worse, because even though movies aren't real, it's implying that it's real. Video games never pretend to be real. Movies want you to think they're real, that's where suspension of belief comes into play. And in regards to females playing video games, I never thought this was a real thing until I got older and out on my own. No one in my school thought it odd I played games, and I never thought about it. College was around the time I started hearing that "Oh, you play video games?". I would like the viewpoints of the male section of the gamers. Did you ever hit a point where you realized that girls don't play games? Did your friends ever think it weird too? I would like viewpoints from the females as well, when you first heard about this type. And then there's the type of the casual gamer. Are casual gamers really all that bad? I hear regular gamers talking about them like their the scourge of the earth, but is it so bad to like the occasional game? My husband's grandma only likes one game--Bomberman on the Genesis. She loves it and plays it all the time. But she refuses to play any other game. Is she a casual gamer? That game isn't usually associated with "casual gaming" like Angry Birds or any game on the iphone/ipad/droid/ect. I have the Plants VS. Zombies and Minecraft on Xbox360, and Josh (my husband) resisted for the longest time in getting it. He thought it was "those casual gamer's games" and that we shouldn't give in to those types of games. After much talking with him about it, I convinced him to get it (by convincing I mean using my wife powers to pull out my credit card and get it). And he got addicted to the plants game. And I like minecraft to build things. But are we casual gamers then? What defines a "casual gamer". The types of games they play? The frequency of playtime? I thought this might be an interesting discussion.

Can someone please suggest some good GameCube games?
giadrosich replied to
Conker's topic in General GamingBut you can't turn the animations off. I tried playing it, and it's very slow because of that. Pokemon XD is the same way. Still very fun though once you get past the slowness. -

Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD Remaster has been announced
giadrosich replied to Netsrac's topic in General Gaming
I tried to play it and didn't really like it that much. Cool that it's getting a remake though, I'm always interested in the HD stuff. I don't own a PS3 or Vita (I've never actually seen Vita games in used game stores either, kinda weird) though, so I suppose it's out of the question for me. My favorite was FF9. Absolutely loved that one--it even made me cry, and not many games do that to me. I've attempted to play FF7, but never did get very far with it even though everyone says it's the best since sliced bread. I've also played 12, but once again couldn't get into it. It really has to grab me from the start, and I think the problem I have with JRPG is the amount of characters they throw at you at the beginning. I remember 9 starting out nice and slower and getting to know the characters bit by bit. Baten Kaitos also does that. Are there more things in the international version? -
Welcome! If you are interested in learning about modding, check out the video tutorials in the Q&A section--they are geared specifically for people who know nothing about modding. Good luck and enjoy the site!

I wish I could understand what you've shown, so I'll just say awesome.

Conker's topic in General GamingI'm sorry about my tangent with SFA, I didn't mean to derail the topic. I also back up Tales of Symphonia, that has a great story and battle system. Much better than the classic "press A a thousand times" JRPG. That sort of game doesn't fit well on the GC. If you want a non-standard shooter, Metroid Prime. That game is also fun to glitch. -
Hylian Toolbox: Continued development controversy
giadrosich replied to DeathBasket's topic in Community Projects
Yeah, it doesn't seem right to make a whole thread on one person. Seems a bit...underhanded. It's way too much gossip. I don't agree with making this a separate topic, this is just inviting arguing and bullying. Not saying anyone would do it, but it can turn in an instant. By calling it a controversy, you are inviting more controversy. I call for deleting it. If I was flo, then I would be angry that I was even being talked about in a special thread. It's different when it's just a passing remark here and there, I admit to doing that to. But a special thread? Really? -

Conker's topic in General GamingIt is, it was one of my first gamecube games. It and Melee. I like the N64 one better, but it has some nice improvements in it. Which Monkey Ball would you suggest? I never know which one to get. -

Me and my husband joke that they won't be allowed to play the newer consoles before the older ones. They'll have to work their way up from the NES to SNES ect. XD I won't deny them any sort of gaming consoles, but I would like them to appreciate what they have. My parents had me work for money to pay for my games and stuff. It helps when you pay for your own stuff, you appreciate it much more.
