  1. *sarcasm alert* Well, duh, females don't exist online. Or take an interest in anything but Cooking Mama and Baby games. That's what companies want you to believe anyway. I think the "shocking" part of women playing video games is because of the portrayal of women in some games. Jiggle physics, half-nakedness, things of that sort. It's only fair it should go both ways, really. Where's the giant crotch physics alongside the giant breast physics? Are there games with guys dressed only in speedos? I shudder at the thought. Side note--did anyone notice the added jiggle to Twinrova in OOT3D?
  2. I'm still giggling at the Durango. Especially after the car picture. That link is interesting, Blinx. Like they say, there might be a change between now and announcement. In regards to needing internet connection, I always wondered how people do system updates to their systems if they don't have internet. Like the Wii for example. You needed a system update for a few games (Skyward Sword and Brawl come to mind). How do people do that without internet? I only buy used games. The only new games I buy is for Zelda series and Pokemon. Mainly so I can get the Club Nintendo points. I still think this would be a death toll for the system if they get rid of that. As for downloading the games onto the HDD itself, it does seem stupid to require that, because eventually it's going to fill up. And if there are one-time use activation codes, then how do you re-download the game onto your system? Unless it's like the 360 and goes off your Live account. The kinect thing is just creepy. ^this But I have problems with the WiiU chat thing too. You can befriend anyone on the Miiverse and immediately video chat with them. This can be blocked with Parental controls, but parents have proven to be stupid (ESRB ratings anyone?). I've been annoyed with Xbox for years anyway, what with the "you must pay" account shenanigans. I don't have a gold account and never will have a gold account. I don't think Playstation charges for their online, and I know Nintendo "don't". I dunno. Either way, I'm not getting either. Xbox or PS4. I have a PS2 that someone gave me, and I hardly ever play it. The Xbox is a paperweight, I play the 360 more because of the Assassin's Creed series. Which will make me mad when new ones come out on the Durango (I'm sure it's inevitable). But ah well. And PS4 has nothing I want. Oooh, a share button. Whee. I have a capture card, thank you. I would classify myself as an "older gen" gamer. I play my older consoles more than anything else these days. If I ever have a kid, they'll never want for the new systems, that's for sure. They have about 15 to choose from now.
  3. It's really weird, I tried to do this in a couple other dungeons, but it only seems to work for Forest Temple. And only that room.
  4. Hmm, well, I inputed the song you gave just to see how it worked, and it changed the stuff okay, everything except the song that's played after you play the song. :/ I put in everything like you said, it still played song of storms though.
  5. Thankfully my 360 hasn't ever redringed on me, but I do have the elite version. I'm not sure if those have that problem. I have two old xboxes, one I got for 4 bucks at goodwill a few weeks ago, it has a problem of a flashing green light so nothing will play on it, but I mainly got it to scrap for parts. I wanted to see if I could get it to run again and sell it, but it'll take a while to get to it.
  6. As soon as I heard it blocked used games, that was it for me. I hope it bombs, that way companies know that used games are the big market. Perhaps this will get more WiiU's sold. And "Durango"? Anyone think of that weird movie, Rango? I am wondering how they force kinect use, how will that work out? Does that mean you must use it with every game or something? Confused on that. At this point, graphics aren't going to get "better" per se anyway. At this point, it's just uncanny valley, where it's JUST real enough to look cool, but humans are never going to look right with 3d stuff, there's always something off. We are our own judge on that, we see humans every day so we know each and every little movement. If this sells a lot, I'll lose faith in the gaming culture, seriously. Used games block is terrible, that's all I ever buy.
  7. Awesome, this is great, thank you. I'll give this a try today and see what comes of it.
  8. I would be interested on how to properly change the song that's played after the notes. I get how to change everything but that. I've stared at how to change the sequence but don't get it.
  9. Ooh, I think I saw this back in the day. It's funky. Edit: I never wanted a helmet...thing though. After the VB disaster, I don't see them trying it again.
  10. This looks really awesome. I'm also always trying to get tutorials from people who know some basic stuff, I'd be thrilled if you could put together a tutorial on using Utility of Time for landscape edits--that program doesn't work on my computer so I can't do anything like that unfortunately. If you put a nice one together, I could add it to our video tutorial thread for newbies. Do you have an idea for a story yet or how long the mod will be? As a warning, UoT can be a bit finicky, be sure to back up your rom a lot when you make changes, I've heard stories of it actually corrupting the rom. Everything looks interesting though, I like the changes you've shown off here. I look forward to seeing more.
  11. It was my mistake, I had misread Jason's posting about switches in another topic, and I thought I had to add it in. XD
  12. O.o Were they leeching off of someone's words, what's with the "joining the gamer ranks" mantra? I can't wait for them to realize girls go online too. Guys still won't believe them. I swear, this is why I don't watch TV.
  13. I got the switch to work out perfectly with your explanation, Jason, thank you! I had to get my husband to explain binary code to me, and I finally "sort of" get it. Thanks for the simple and detailed instructions on how you came to your conclusion, that helped a lot. One more simple question, with the variable of 3801 on the transparent platform, can one change the last two digits or just the last digit to make sure it doesn't line up with anything else in the dungeon appearing? Such as changing it to 3804, 3805, ect.
  14. Oooookaaay. My game became drugs. So, after finally getting how switches work, and all that wonderfulness that Jason posted about in the flag topic...the game decides to throw me another curve ball. This had to be filmed to believe, seriously. (link in case embeded doesn't work for you) If you don't want to watch the video, here's what I did. I'm adding an eye switch and transparent platforms that appear when you hit the switch. I'm just trying to get everything to work at the moment, so I was entering the correct variables and objects that should be in the room. I'm using 3802 for the transparent platforms and 3812 for the eye switch. I'm not sure if it works yet, because the game won't let me. I've changed two objects in the room. I've changed 005D (bubble) to 0179 (ice block). I've also changed another object to 0003 (dungeon group). For some reason, when adding this, and I save to RAM, exit then enter the room to test the items, it puts me into the Deku Tree. The only programs I've used is SayakaGL for this room and ZAP2 to edit the objects, which I haven't saved anything while messing with that program. Just saved to RAM. Messing around with it I've discovered that adding the 0003 is what causes the issue to happen. I've been told that 0003 is always added in the dungeon and I don't have to add it, because it's always loaded. But, my question is how does this warp happen when just editing objects? Just adding the 0179 doesn't make it happen, just 0003. The solution is not to add 0003. I just want to know why it does this weirdness when I DO add it.
  15. *shamefully raises hand* I almost stole a hotel n64 controller. It had a really good stick on it. My original plan was to steal just the stick and replace it with a joystick I had with me. But the darn screws were covered up. And I didn't have the guts to take the whole thing. But that shows how desperate I was for a good controller.
  16. Oh, pfft, yeah, I immediately thought of just roms. XD Yeah, that makes sense.
  17. I can't get invisible platforms to show up when I hit an eye switch. How do I make them connect? These are the options according to the actor list: 012A:0003:0712:Eye Switch (makes transparent platforms appear) 01B4:0179:0501:Transparent Platform (appears when torch is lit) 01B4:0179:0701:Transparent Platform 01B4:0179:0801:Transparent Platforms (appear when silver rupees are gathered) 01B4:0179:0F01:Transparent Platform (appears when switch is shot 0F82?) 01B4:0179:1301:Transparent Platform (covers doorway, disappears after switch is hit 1313) 01B4:0179:1901:Transparent Platform 01B4:0179:2601:Transparent Platform 01B4:0179:2701:Transparent Platform 01B4:0179:2801:Transparent Platform 01B4:0179:3601:Transparent Platform (appears after switch is shot) 01B4:0179:3801:Transparent Platform (covers door) 01B4:0179:3901:Transparent Platform 01B4:0179:FF01:Transparent Platform I have tried 3601 for the transparent platform, but it doesn't work when I hit the eye switch 0712. Do I need to have the ending numbers match or something? Edit: I actually tried matching the ending numbers, but that didn't work ether.
  18. I don't have a problem with the occasional lag on my system, but I have heard GoldenEye is pretty bad--never really played that game though, shooters aren't my thing. The most lag I ever notice is with the Ganondorf fight when you shoot him with a light arrow and the game slows to a crawl--preventable if you don't look at it of course. Mario 64 has lag in odd spots, but it always lags around Bowser's sub. I can't think of any other game I own that has memorable lag issues. I don't see Nintendo releasing flash carts with any system.
  19. Just a small progress update, no pics though, sorry. It's rougher to post updates for dungeons, as I've said. I don't want to spoil things, but I also want to keep people updated on what I've done. Kid dungeons are completed as well as Fire/Forest Temple. I've been attempting to think of things for Water Temple, but the problem with that temple is the water levels. My main goal is to change the flow of the temples, and the flow of that temple is SO particular with the levels. The best I can do is prevent getting the longshot two seconds into the level. I'll keep working on it though, of course.
  20. I would kill for a better controller. I have about six or seven controllers right now, and all are in some state of being cleaned, taken apart and put back together. I'm always searching for the "perfect" controller, and I've even considered forking over the money for a brand new in-the-box N64 JUST for the darned controller inside. I'm that desperate. I have a 3rd party controller that somewhat works well, but the joystick is very long and just high enough to make it uncomfortable for long periods of gaming. Plus the controller is about the size of an xbox controller. The rest of the controllers are between "this sucks, the character isn't going in the direction I want him to" to "well, at least he's moving". Seriously, why do the joysticks suck so much on the older N64? I think if Nintendo did re-release a budget system for N64 games, they would also have to deal with the problem of the start-up issues. You know, the classic "blow into the cartridge to make it work" sort of thing? How is there a way to eliminate that completely? I have about 3 N64 systems and only one of them works every single time, and I still have to incorporate that blowing trick (I know, you aren't supposed to do that--but darn it, it works!). And then, the games that are considered good and classic they would have to get the rights to. Banjo-Kazooie, DK64, and GoldenEye (any Rare game really), ect. They have gotten the rights to DKCountry as that has been on VC. I would love to see a new generation play the games I grew up with though. N64 holds a special place for me. It would worry me if they did release a "budget system" though, because they did release the Mini Wii...and yeah. EDIT: Frankly, I'd like to see a re-release of the Disk Drive for the system. That would be fun.
  21. I'd be interested in seeing Fortress all the way as well.
  22. Yeah, they just don't work for me, I've not had any trouble with Rice. Glide made my computer go black and made the emulator go full screen. Couldn't back out of it and had to task manager to shut it down. *shrug* I did give 'em a shot though.
  23. I thought this was kind of interesting, and thought I'd share. http://garethrees.org/2004/12/01/ocarina-of-time/ They go over dungeon design, item usage, and how people figure out which way to go. Side note: They also go over a progression from beta to final in a different game I thought was cool: http://garethrees.org/2010/06/17/floe/
  24. Oh, darn you found me out! XD I knew you would. Okay, I will try out the plugins and see if they work, thank you.
  25. I was poking around the web and found this: http://www.moddb.com/games/zelda-world/ I downloaded it. It's funky, first person weirdness. Apparently you can make your own levels, so it's sort of "casual modding" I suppose.
