Made a website to promote the project, and got a new logo. I liked the old one a lot and it wasn't bad in my opinion, but this one Spire made is much better. I'll still be keeping things up to date here of course. I've decided not to drop the project, but instead put it down for a while. I need to start looking for a job, and get my life on track. Getting a steady income, and eventually my own place is my main priority. http://heavyd139.wix.com/project-rebirth

Thanks Petri911, that makes total sense now.

So, not long before I release my mod as a One Dungeon Demo. Why do I say Demo you ask? Because for one it's a really short mod, and for two I may end up picking the project back up later on. Though it is not a promise. I can't say how long exactly it will take me, it may be a few more days. I realize how unproffesional it was to state that it would be released sooner, but things got in the way. Since then I've decided to redo my first dungeon now that I've had more experience, and it's a lot better. I've even made changes to the Lost Woods, and I plan to start doing something that will make good use of the Lost Woods in my project. DJ Helyxx no longer wants to do the music for the hack, he simply said that he was too busy and that's alright. After trial and error I've finally found a decent midi editor that had plenty of features as well as being nooby friendly. Another reason it's taken me so long just to get this much done is because I had to use my old rom to manually put stuff into a new one I'm using. Remaking an entire dungeon, Kokiri Forest, and Lost Woods takes a lot of time, especially when you add on to what was their previously. Not to mention all of the little things I've hacked like health, speed, and damage values for enemies/bosses. I don't think I've mentioned either the new sword attack animations I've arranged. I think Being so close to releasing my mod adds on to the amount of happiness I get from modding it, I really like some of the recent decision I've made for the music as well as the plans I have for the Lost Woods. I do hope that as many people as possible play this, because even though it's my mod and I might even be a bit byast, I really do think that this is going to be a fun new experience for anyone who loves OoT. Special thanks to everyone who has helped me so far. I'll go on to credit you all later once the project is finished.

So there is this cool place where you can get some epic costumes, suits and more. Anyone else know of places like these? I don't care what the price is, I'm definitely 100% getting that green ranger costume with everything in the pic. The helmets are legit too. All you have to do is contact the guy through message I guess. He was referenced on the Rangerboards, not that I'm a member their, but I did find the place looking for legit cosplay pieces for the Green Ranger. Everyone their seems to know the guy who host that facebook. Anyone like? https://www.facebook.com/jtokucostume #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7

Can someone please tell me what I have to do to get this logo working? the file is too big in hex to copy over the original logo and I can't use the ZLE2 texture importer. I exported a jpg copy just to upload and show this. The link for the download is the logo raw file, it's been converted with SoDs tga2rgba32 program. The image has been done right as far as I know, it's 160x160 it was converted from rgb32 tga to RAW, but it's too big in hex. Edited: I forgot to mention too that it has an alpha transparency layer. Idk why it has a white background in the image I uploaded to show. http://www.filedropper.com/rebirth_2 Note:I have not yet added in the "The legend of" and "Rebirth" text into the logo Edited: I've gotten the logo in, nothing was wrong with it, I just tried to paste over too much hex data... I felt dumb when I realized how simple it was. Got almost everything done for the logo. I just have to mess around and find the offsets for the MASTER QUEST + Ocarina icon and the Nintendo copyrights logo's

Experimenting giving the Deku Scrub brothers different variables. I gave this one a regular scrub variable 0300. I was hoping that I would be able to make a green scrub that wasn't one of the brothers. I guess I did, but this is not exactly what I was hoping for lol Given the variable FF00 he gives you the weird egg, and has the text that is said when it is given to you -

That's awesome. Don't you have some old stuff from the program you dropped for the title screen logo? It would be great if you could implement that into SceneNavi, or does this texture replacement support stuff like that as well And why did you drop that by the way? -

You should release a patch for that. I like those medallions much better -
I don't care how good you are at gaming, you can't tell me Turtle Rock was a piece of cake, having to avoid those lazers balls all over the place, especially when riding that pad and hitting the switches. A notable boss, who, while isn't hard, but very annoying is the Death Mountain boss, you fall off the edge half the time if you hit him wrong. I never said the puzzles were hard in those games either, they always stick to the same puzzle formula, so after playing so many Zelda games no other seems difficult. When I say I felt like my hand was being held I was mostly referring to Fi, think about how much harder the game would have been without her pointing out everything. Sure anyone could have figured things out, it would have still taken more time surely though. She was worse than Navi. I think the hardest puzzle in any of the Zelda games wasn't really a puzzle, but it was actually getting to Ganon's room in Lvl 9 in Zelda 1. It was soo difficult just to survive long enough just to get there, even if you did know where it was. Again, Zelda 2 did not have hard puzzles, but surviving some dungeons was as hard as nails, and some Palaces were very large with a similar layout that was seen in something like Metroid Nes. Beat Dark Link in Zelda 2 without any cheats in front of any who have tried and they will all recognize you as truly skilled. Demise was nothing, Looked cool, but was not difficult. None of the dungeons in SS had anything hard about them whatsoever. It's been a while, but I don't think I remember having any trouble with any of the bosses. The Thunder Dragon's boss rush might have been the most difficult thing in the game, and I don't even count that because it wasn't mandatory.

I see your point Spire, and point taken. Nintendo just seems to be aiming for the younger audience these day more than usual I feel. At least in Zelda. The level of difficulty was retarded in Skyward Sword. I felt like my hand was being held the entire time. One could say the difficulty of finding and slashing the goddes cubes, plus getting all of the crystals for whatever that demons name was would have added to it, but overall it just wasn't a hard game. It's a shame when comparing to classics like Zelda 1, 2, and ALTTP. Nintendo's old school fanbase, is.. well.. older. I guess it wouldn't be fare to add more violence at the loss of a younger crowd, and even though I may be wrong, I feel like Zelda really is more, or less our generations series. I wouldn't want to keep other young kids from playing it like we have, so taking this into consideration, I guess I feel a little torn between idea's of what would be best, and just plainly what I want for the series knowing your point is valid.

Nope Zelda doesn't need blood it wouldn't be fitting, especially with enemy's like these. Blood would not be suitable for this video game series *Scoffs* it's just not Zelda It's not Zelda 1 It's not OoT It's not Twilight Princess I couldn't even see half of the enemies in MM bleeding. It would never work.

What could/should/would Nintendo do to save themselves?
HeavyZ replied to I M Evil's topic in General Gaming
Regardless if it makes the game more "Mature" or not doesn't change the fact that more people will think of it as less of a kid game than the previous ones. It's not the 1980's or 90's anymore, most people would rather play a game they perceive as mature other than a game they don't. Hence the title of this thread, more people would like it, more people would buy it. I'm talking about a generation of gamers who didn't grow up playing Nes, Snes, or N64. People who didn't start loving Nintendo franchise games at an early age. Instead grew up playing PS2, Xbox original, and Xbox360. Also Majora's Mask was made kid friendly, regardless of how mature it is. I think a lot of you just don't want the change. I do, I would like to see blood and mild cursing, I don't see why it would be such a big deal, I'm tired of kid friendly Zelda's. Imagine Perfect Dark without the blood. Call me violent, but it was enjoyable just to shoot a dead NPC while it lied on the floor, watching its bloody head bobble. Also @ DeathBasket Cursing is not immature, an overuse of cursing is, and that's not what we're suggesting here. You can glorify cursing using it just right, or you can make yourself and everything you're saying idiotic, it just depends how you use it. I think OoT wouldn't have suffered from a bit of mild cursing, and blood. It's not like any of are saying Mario should have any of that stuff, that would just be ridiculous, but it would fit into Zelda very well as long as it wasn't overdone. -
Well I guess the image has to be exact size, I hope I can find a way of getting my logo that small without it being so pixelated and blurry... More info on how to do it here: http://forums.maco64.com/topic/830823/1/ We really need a tool for this because it is ridiculous how much you have to do just to get a logo in.
-
Cool, what was the width, and height of the image you used for the main logo? Does it have to be 160x160? If I were importing it with a program instead of hex, I would hope that the program fixed the size or something, but if I do it with hex I'm sure it has to be at least around a certain size if not exact.

I could just ask someone personally through PM how to do this, but I figure that it should be documented better for other people who don't know how to do this. There is a thread already, but it doesn't say too much.I know how to do this mostly though I've had trouble with the logo, and with ZLE2 everytime I try to open the import texture application in ZLE2 I get a "Run-Time error '53' File not Found" message, and it won't work. Also the problem with resizing the logo to 160x160 the logo becomes very pixelated and blurry, mostly because the image was so huge to begin with. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ypjw80119eyueih/Rebirth.zip Here's my logo stuff. Really I just want to port in the logo with everything over just the "Zelda" logo and somehow get rid of the others already in the game.. specifically the "The legend of" and the Ocarina of Time" and the "Master quest" logo. So my main questions are:1. How do I do it with another program other than ZLE2, or how do I get around the problem I'm having with ZLE2?2. How do I resize the image for the logo without it being so blurry, and does it really have to be 160 width, and 160 height for the "Zelda" part of the logo?3. How do I get rid of the other logo's without porting another one over them? more questions that aren't really as big as a priority as finding out the answer's to the rest are: 1. How do I change the cutscene used for the title screen?2. How should a texture look like for the mask effect behind the logo? Just one solid color? I have no idea. Here are some notes I've found on the other thread for custom logos here in the GCN. Credit for them goes to xdaniel. This is the offset for the title screen logo: 017F7000 - 0181C940 This is what Airikita told me a long time ago when I asked her how to do it, so credit goes to her for this: and here is the page with SoD's tools to convert the images: https://www.the-gcn.com/topic/2251-sods-software/

SceneNavi - A simple Ocarina of Time level editor
HeavyZ replied to xdaniel's topic in Modifications
I think it would be pretty cool to give an option to actually be able to edit if an area has a normal flow of time like in Hyrule Field, or if time stands still. I already know how to do this through hex, but it would be nice for people who are just getting started at hacking OoT, and it would probably save time for those who knew how to do it manually anyways. -
My friend Adam just started calling me "Heavy" one day.. so everyone started calling me "Heavy", or "Hev". I don't know why, he comes up with weird nicknames for everyone and everything, surprisingly most of them stick, and are adopted to be used by others since they're kind of funny. Funny in the sense that they are weird, random, and we can all assume that there was no reason for the them in the first place. For example, another friends name is Josh, but everyone calls him "Foot". We've all contributed to our weird nick naming in a small way, everyone calls everyone "Skin", or "Lad" now. Another notable name we call each other is "Girl" it doesn't matter if we've never even met you, and you're a guy, we'll call you that. Anyways 1390 comes from being born on the 13th of Oct, and 90 from being born on 1990.

I may end up fighting the urge to buy the new Xbox once it comes out and it's gotten a bunch of good titles, just because the decisions they have made since the Xbox One. I don't support such decisions, and I won't support them unless some people get replaced and things change. This isn't that big of a deal, but combined with everything else of recent.. yeah. They're just money hungry fiends. I mean I wouldn't judge if any of the Xbox fanboys still gamed MS regardless, I'm just that guy who doesn't like things that aren't right, or companies that suck at making decisions especially when it comes to something I'm so passionate about like gaming, I've never been much of an Xbox fanboy myself. So I'll make it a point to just stick to the PS4 and Wii U, as insignificant as my actions may be

CRC? I knew that I was just listing it as an example.
-
Could someone experinced enough at hacking OoT make a tool that detects things like pointers that need to be fixed, CRC, and ect. giant maps, or edited values that would crash it on real hardware?.. Ya know just based on what we've learned already does that, and if more things turn out to crash on real hardware, just add it to the program. It wouldn't help until they have already done something that will crash it, but that's why you always make a back-up rom before modding it again. A master list on hacking tools that could screw it up would also help.

SceneNavi - A simple Ocarina of Time level editor

Graphics seem to be working perfectly, even when they didn't on SayakaGL, or the last beta of SceneNavi after disabling combiner. It told me it recognized my Intel hardware too. -
Chrono Trigger had some of the best music to ever bless the early 90's game scene. I know what you mean too man, I have fond memory's of pixelated blood spewing everywhere as I shot down friends in Perfect Dark. Super Mario Bros 3, various Power Ranger games for Snes, and A Link to the Past made up a good deal of my childhood, and yes even Street Fighter 2 for me as well (by the way I got that game not long ago, Christ that game is so much harder than I remember). It's hard to think how some can truly nostalgia over the new games, as we have with our old ones. I remember when games were good, when they were hard to beat and beating them alone was an achievement, most games didn't have the save option and your only choice was to beat it from start to finish. And oh the sweet joy of playing Mario Paint, and making custom animations to make Mario do the most vulgar things like engage in an act of violent intercourse with a pig, or some other god awful things that me and my friends just couldn't stop laughing at. I play all of those old games with my little sister, she's 6 years old now, I just don't tell her that they are old games lol. I feel that since I was a kid, and while gaming was a big part of my life it wasn't so much that it was all I did. So, I missed out on a world of old school games that people still reminisce to this day, and I've set out to collect all of those games. I try to show people who've never played certain games how cool this, or that was when they have never heard of it. Most of the time they find it boring (it's very disappointing) though the ones they remember are still cool to them. I no longer live in my hometown in Georgia so I don't even know any real gamers up here other than my younger brother. I just walk to the retro game store close by and chat with them about the old school, and the new school gaming world.
