Play as Princess Zelda in ALTTP...
Сʀɪѕɴ replied to Сʀɪѕɴ's topic in Community Projects
An old topic, I know, but I'm thinking of bringing this project back. I decided to do some touch ups to her sprites recently, and added color to her dress. Now when you get the blue and red mails, her dress changes color accordingly. http://syndicateunderground.com/download/Zelda_III/Zelda_Test_Mod_01_Legend%20of%20Zelda,%20The%20-%20A%20Link%20to%20the%20Past%20%28USA%29.SMC I still haven't gotten to the text part, although I did attempt it. Needless to say there were errors. Now that I think of it, I think I'd rather her look like the Zelda in Twilight Princess. You know, without the cape. I'd like to later add at least one bonus dungeon, like in Links Awakening DX, how there was the Color Dungeon. -
Well, I don't have a N64 collection yet, although I did years ago and probably still do in storage somewhere. I do, however, have a NES collection started.... Images are pretty big, so I put them in a spoiler tag... I plan on continuing my collection /library and eventually plan on getting a SNES and N64 collection started soon. Provided my bills allow this.

I say make a Nintoaster 64.

I'm pretty proud of myself for this one. After looking all over the internet, trying to find a Game Genie code that will keep the selected magic....well.....selected after using it, I finally had enough and decided to make it myself. I wasn't familliar at all with 6502 assembly, but after a few tutorials online, I got the gist of it. So here it is, my first Game Genie code for the NES. The following code(s) are for Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (Rev-A) (USA) "Gold Cart" NYEASVKE | Always Have Magic Selected. NYAASV | Always Have Magic Selected. (Alt.) ROM Address: 8E05 Compare: 8C Value: FF RAM Address: 074A Compare: 01 Value: 00 (on) ; 01 (off) Now what got me at first was that no matter how many different values and compairs I tried, I could never get the RAM Game Genie codes to work. Well after doing some research, it turns out that the Game Genie does not modify the RAM values, only from ROM. Valuable lesson for the future, LOL!!! I've tested the Game Genie codes myself on a real NES and a real copy of Zelda II as well as, obviously, an emulator. This code goes really great with Infinite Magic... SXNASSSE | Infinite Magic (Not my code, tested and does work on both emulator and real NES + Zelda II Rev-A)

LOL!!! Yup. Well exuuuuuse me princess!

I was surfin' on YouTube this morning and stumbled upon this little jem. I can understand how it got such a bad rep, but come on, it's a classic, LOL.

I know it's over, but I feel that I have to say, "Mike's approach to 'Anti-SOPA' was pretty pathetic. A child coud have done better, much better." TotalHalibut had the right idea, views, and approach to fighting this horible bill. Not to mention British people have the best demeanor.

Play as Princess Zelda in ALTTP...

So what does a day off from life get you? Time to get shit done is what! Here's a playable beta demo... http://www.4shared.c.../zelda_mod.html So here's the deal, play it, enjoy it, tell me what you think, let me know if there are bugs in the sprites, and if there are bugs in any of the sprites, take a screen shot of it. If it's a fast animation and you can't quite take the snap shot fast enough, I recommend using znes because it has an awesome slow-mo feature. The finished product will have fixes in the plot, such as the words "him, his, he, etc. and anything referring to Zelda", and the graphic of Link on the signs that say something about you capturing the Princess, ( cause how can you capture yourself ). Other fixes along those lines will be made as well, Zelda's stock model / sprite set will be replaced with either Link, (meh), or some random character that resembles the other "wise men", (yay). -
Wow, I haven't seen a thread like this in months. LOL @Zeth's comment, indeed they are. trollolololol

Play as Princess Zelda in ALTTP...
Сʀɪѕɴ replied to Сʀɪѕɴ's topic in Community Projects
I just finished some more sprites for her boomerang and hammer animations. Man, two hours just for 7 or so sprites, yeesh! The shovel animations are gonna be a bitch I just know it. LoL, I like the title, but I think the word "Link" is supposed to be a play on words and not actually refer to Link the protagonist. I was thinking of doing something simple like "The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (Zelda's Edition)" or just "ALTTP Zelda's Quest", but that would imply a completely different game rather than just a sprite swap. I guess I'll just leave the name up to the fans really and use Zelda's Quest for the actual mod if I do it. -
Yeah, I can see how that would look crappy. It more than likely would take more work than it's worth. That's why I haven't messed around much with Oot and a Play as Zelda, it's just too much complicated work. Maybe make a new character model for her? Like from the cartoon series that had something like 13 episodes somewhere in the late 80's early 90's? Excuuuuuuse me Princess!

The Wand of Gamelon, LOL!!! Yeah, that's exactly what I had in mind when starting this mod. I can't say that I gave the game a chance, but I have seen game reviews on it. Oh boy did it look crappy, which is why I wanted a game like this. I fealt that we all got jipped on those games, even non-Zelda fans. And yes, I do plan on switching out her original sprite. I'm not entirely 100% that I'll use Link, I was thinking of making some kind of alternate Wise Man, or girl, to better fit the story plot of the original game? IDK, maybe I'll just swap her with Link. -

Play as Princess Zelda in ALTTP...

All of her sprites were made from scratch, although I did use the ones from the game as a referance ( I think 4 in total, LOL ) as well as Link's stock sprites as a base, yeah. -
I've been doing some modding for ALTTP lately, and so far I've managed to make sprites for the Princess, and I've got to say I think it's starting to come out pretty well. Opinions? I'll make a quick video clip of what she looks like in action. She looks better in game than on a sprite sheet. *Edit: Here's a bit of a demo to show ya'll what she looks like in game...

I know you said you wouldn't make a Play As Zelda, but perhaps you can reconsidder?

If anyone has gotten into modding ALTTP ( Zelda: A Link To The Past ), chances are that you use or have tried using a program called Hyrule Magic. Now visually, this is a very user friendly tool, but it certainly has a number of critical flaws. One of them being that your colors get all scrambled up when you try to "paste" new / edited sprites for Link. This is quite troublesome as I'm sure you can imagine, but worry not my little Zelda nerd, I've got a solution. First off, you probably want to use Photoshop CS5 to edit / mod Links sprites, I do, but whatever program you choose to use is up to you as long as you know how to convert the image / sprites to 4 bit 16 colors. For Photoshop users, however, you will want to go to {Image}--->{Mode}--->and tab {Indexed Colors} then go back to {Image}--->{Mode}--->and go to {Color Table...}. Here, you're going to want to create and save a copy of Links' color palette, which includes no more and no less than 16 colors. Fill them in from left to right in the following order given... Purple "a918a9" White "f8f8f8" Yellow "f0d840" Light Brown "b86820" Light Tan "f0a068" Black "282828" Orange "f87800" Red "c01820" Pink "e860b0" Dark Turquoise "389068" Light Turquoise "40d870" Dark Green "509010" Light Green "78b820" Dark Tan "e09050" Dark Brown "885828" Lavender "c080f0" Now that you have your color palette ready, now you can start editing / modding your sprites, but wait, there's one last important step you have to do before you can properly "copy and paste" your sprite(s) into Hyrule Magic, you have to swap colors. After HOURS of work, "more like 3-4 hours I'm exaggerating", I figured out that there's a pattern that's happening when you "paste" sprites into Hyrule Magic that's causing such a drastic change in the colors. The following is what you'll have to change your colors to BEFORE "pasting" into Hyrule Magic... |•••••••••••••••••|•••••••FROM•••••••|•••••••TO•••••••|•••••••••••••••••| Purple••••••••••••••| a918a9 | f8f8f8 |•••••white white•••••••••••••••| f8f8f8 | c080f0 |•••••Lavender Yellow••••••••••••••| f0d840 | f0d840 |•••••Yellow Light Brown•••••••••| b86820 | f0a068 |•••••Light Tan Light Tan•••••••••••| f0a068 | e860b0 |•••••Pink Black•••••••••••••••| 282828 | e09050 |•••••Dark Tan Orange••••••••••••••| f87800 | 40d870 |•••••Light Turquoise Red•••••••••••••••••| c01820 | f87800 |•••••Orange Pink••••••••••••••••| e860b0 | a918a9 |•••••Purple Dark Turquoise••••••| 389068 | 78b820 |•••••Light Green Light Turquoise•••••| 40d870 | b86820 |•••••Light Brown Dark Green••••••••••| 509010 | 389068 |•••••Dark Turquoise Light Green•••••••••| 78b820 | 885828 |•••••Dark Brown Dark Tan••••••••••••| e09050 | c01820 |•••••Red Dark Brown••••••••••| 885828 | 509010 |•••••Dark Green Lavender••••••••••••| c080f0 | 282828 |•••••Black I'd like to share the .txt document I made in Notepad++ to show you the pattern, but it's pretty much pointless knowledge, I'm just proud of the fact that I figured it out. Basically it takes 3 cycles of 11 different arrangements and on the 1st arrangement on the 4th cycle, that's where it starts the cycle over again. So the colors that you have to swap TO are the colors from the 3rd cycle - 11 arrangement.....if that makes any sense. Again, not important info, but just something I'd like to share. Just in case you're curious of the pattern, I have a .txt document for you... http://www.4shared.c...olor_table.html (I highly recommend opening this file in Notepad++ so that you can see the patterns easily) Now that your sprites are "pasting" with the correct color set, enjoy modding Link's sprite(s)! *EDIT: I figured it might be easier if I provided a visual sample of what I'm talking about... The palette on the left is Link's default color palette, the one on the right is what you need to change to in order for Hyrule Magic to accept the new sprites correctly.

How do you go about swapping Links character model?

How do you go about swapping Links character model?
Сʀɪѕɴ replied to Сʀɪѕɴ's question in Q & A
I have another question, and hopefully this'll be the last. I was surfing the forums about a week ago and I found a link to list somewhere that showed all of the actor models' offsets. For example Link would be like 0084FB10-00856570, though I know that's not the right offset. My question is, Does anyone know or remember where this list was? 'Cause I'm having one Hell of a time finding it again. -
Wait wait wait, an N64 version of my favorite Zelda game? Hellz yeah. Best of luck to ya. I'd offer to help but I'm JUST starting to learn this whole Zelda64 thing. Plus I've got a bit of another project going on with ALTTP.

Hmmmm, you mean by using HxD right? More importantly, how do I go about doing this? Tutorial anywhere? Thank You. Oh, and btw, I found ZAP2 after hours of searching, and I don't think it can swap Links character, although I haven't messed with it a whole lot yet. http://www.glitchkil...int&thread=2553 -

Apparently there's an old program called ZAP2 : Zelda Actor Placement 2 I've been Google-ing my butt off and I can't find ONE friggin legit download. I DID, however, find a file by the name of "zap2.zip", but it was some jerks crappy music. Does anyone have this program or know where to get it? -

Update: I tried using HxD to try swapping offsets, all I managed to do was break the ROM. No success yet. https://sites.google...ugzobjdoc/#bnpc EDIT: I also tried using UoT, and all I can get is this error... Error reading file: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Also, SayakaGL can't "Identify ROM". Exact words, "ROM could not be identified!" and ZRE doesn't do anything. Specs: •Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit •Intel i3 2.53 GHz •4 gigs of RAM •Better yet, I'm on a Toshiba Satellite A665-S5170 -

Aw, oh well thanks anyway Dash. Anyone else? Now my curiosity is really getting sparked as to how OoT would feel playing as Zelda. I guess a part of me wants a bit of a redemption from those crappy CD-i games that Phillips released.....yeah you know the ones.....let's not go there.
