  1. Ya this is just the first try at it. I had never done anything texture or background related like this. I just looked at the wiki and just kinda guessed the rest to do from there. So to make sure it worked I kept it 17kb. :S I really wish that there was a better image of it. I'm going to do that old alley way image of the lamp post as well
  2. I think it's much older.... But I have come to a conclusion though, its the same map file. If you look off into the distance at that picture that you provided you see some one standing there? Well in the map file there is the group for Hyrule Solider. I bet you that thing standing there is a solder. Only if I had a better quality picture I really think that is going to be very small. But even the standard size is only 320px by 240px so it might not look too too bad. That one looks like a more grassy area even the temple looks to have vines on it.
  3. Hey Guys, Last night I decided to play with the JFIF files. I realize that they are just regular JPEG. I found the Temple of Time day JFIF file. Copied it's hex, and pasted into a new file and saved as Temple.jfif I loaded into Paint.net and can view them no problem. Even windows view has new problem with him. So I have always wanted to load up the A + B temple of time front (want to do the really really old one too but its really grainy). Chriistiian linked me to a view with footage of Link walking into the old A + B temple. Took a print screen of that video, and removed and buttons, rupees and hearts out and repaired some of the damage they did to the picture. I saved it as a .jfif and made sure my compression made it exactly 17.0kb big. It ended up being 0x50 larger than my old file. Went to the location of the old jfif. Removed it and inserted my new one. I deleted the null data required to maintain the correct offsets in the rom. Changed the header of my new jfif to have the same ending identifier as the Zelda games do, because Paint.net gave me FF E1 and I changed to FF DB (which is what the Zelda JFIF files have). It looks pretty good, need to fix the ring around death mountain and there is some collision issues with the ground because the temples angle and depth is different in this older image than the current. The image is a little grainy, but hey I recreated it from a video from 96 or 97 lol I hope you enjoy.. DL
  4. This is awesome, great work, really stable too.
  5. Man I really wish I didn't have to sell it but I'm building a PacMan cocktail table and my fiancé says that If I keep the Xbox stand then I can't take the pax man table to the new house and my pacman table is pretty friggin cool and I built it soooo it was a hard desicion.
  6. 600 obo I gotta get rid of it I almost took 300
  7. I dumpster dived this from EBGames / Gamestop Cost me 50 bucks worth of repairs and paint. Now i'm trying to sell it.
  8. Let me see if I can find that magazine. I'm not sure if they call it Zelda Gaiden or Majora's Mask at the time. I feel that Majoras Mask still shows more promise as a platform for Zelda URA. Who knows I don't think we will ever have all the answers. This is a great find though. Awesome work.
  9. If your looking for something about you are unsure of how to find it for example lets say rupees amount. You can use a Less than Greater than search. Basically if you have 100 rupees its hex value is 64. There for you look for a Known value you 0064. You than walk around until you find a rupee, and now have 101 which is 0065. You can than do a search for Greater than your previous search. The amount of search results will be less, which is good because your narrowing the search. Now go spend some rupees, and do a search for less than your previous search. It will narrow down your results until you get a quantity of search results you can work with like 20. From there you can poke your results to find out which will change the amount of rupees you have on hand. I use Renegade 64 or Galatea to perform my searches. Cheat Engine is another good tool to do this. Once you find the address that changes the amount of rupees in your inventory (not just the display on the screen) you can write a code for it. If you are editing Two bytes you are going to use an 81XXXXXX and a one bit will be 80XXXXXX. X's representing the ram location of the value you want to edit. So for example 80150000 0064 would keep the bit at 00150000 at the value 64. While on the other hand 81150000 0064 would make the bit at 00150000 the value 00 and the value at 00150001 64. Using a D code will give you activators. So for example the code: D0160000 0010 80150000 0064 Will store the value 64 at offset 00150000 when the value in 00160000 is equal to 0010. Gameshark codes can be fun and tricky some times but it is a very useful tool that can do some really cool things if you learn how to use it to your advantage. Hope this helps. DL

  11. I've never thought that Zelda URA and Master Quest were the same thing. I thought that Master Quest was Nintendo's way of appeasing the masses to get them to stop complaining about the Zelda that never came to be. I believe that there is still another Zelda game out there that we haven't even touched yet, and we won't get to until something gets leaked onto the net. I believe that Majora's Mask is a more likely candidate for being Zelda URA, and I have a magazine article from 1999 If I'm correct in Electronic Gaming Monthly that shows Majora's Mask running on N64DD, but you can't make out the cartridge that is running in system. It was a 64DD dev unit, so the disk was blue, and the cartridge in the N64 was unlabeled.
  12. Here's a video of me doing Flying Battery Zone speed run of act 1 on S&K+S3. Did on my Wii using emulator, no cheats enabled. Sorry for the crappy recording quality, just did it with a web cam. DL
  13. It's great to be back, is there a chat for this place? or only the shout box?
  14. Hey everyone, Long time no see for some of you, for those I haven't met, it's nice to meet you. I was told that there was a cool friendly hacking community here by a friend. I used to be an administrator on ZSO when it was still alive. I am really behind in the Zelda hacking scene, but I think that I might be able to bring some insightful information on projects if you need. I guess my most significant project for those who don't know or remember was PJMMOOT, where myself and John_Smith_Account imported the first fully functional Majora's Mask levels into Ocarina of Time. That was a long time ago, so I won't get into that... I hope that everything is great with you all, and look forward to chatting.DL77
