  1. Latest Wind Viewer + source code: http://magicstone.de/dzd/random/WWActorEdit_full.rar Maybe not all that different from the last release actually, but it did have some changes - slightly improved TP support is one thing I remember. Also honestly, I don't know when (if?) I'll get back to this, so that's another reason for me to release the source now, hoping that someone else can improve upon it and such.
  2. The mesh type is set in the room header only, not the scene header. Also, there's some commented-out code for that inside ZScene.cs - http://code.google.com/p/sharpocarina/source/browse/trunk/MapDev/ZScene.cs#823 - although I'm pretty sure it never worked right, despite setting minimum/maximum coordinates. Maybe I was writing them wrong, I dunno.
  3. There's an ancient (and short) todo list in Notes.txt, some of those might already be implemented. Besides that, implementing mesh type 2 (IIRC all existing maps with water have that set as far display lists, should/might fix some of the current Z-ordering problems), the collision polygon type editor might still be broken, separate options for en-/disabling lighting, the skybox, etc. might be good as opposed to the catch-all "outdoor scene" setting...

  5. There's many things you can do before actually writing the game proper... although I really should stop doing those things and devote myself to the freaking engine! <.< Also, "ship"? This'll become a horizontal scrolling shooter. Hopefully. (Screenshots from real hardware btw)
  6. Well, I'd gladly accept help if people asked me, while at the same time I don't want to go around asking for help myself, besides maybe for beta testing. I guess I don't want to come across as... deperate or something. In turn, the changing of projects often stems from either getting bored or frustrated with a project, especially if it started out well, and then devolved into an unsightly mess - guess which project I'm alluding to. So by all means, haddockd and anyone else interested - especially regarding SO I suppose -, if you do know C# and don't mind looking through a hunk of poorly written code, have a look at it, the known bugs it has and have a go at fixing and improving it. I still think a full, better-planned replacement for it would be the best course of action (not with me at the helm, tho, as mentioned), but at least getting rid of the most significant bugs could still be worthwhile.
  7. It's been mentioned before, but I can't help but be again reminded of how we really need a collaborative effort for a new, more capable and better maintained map importer. SO is a mess, the first rewrite went nowhere, and the second rewrite has been in the planning stages for months without much progress at all - I'm just not cut out to be the leader (and in this case, sole developer) of a project of this scale.
  8. I knew my normal calculations were pretty bad, but those are probably the most severe glitches I've seen so far... Anyway, any scene that's designated as outdoors in SO will have normals enabled, which'll also influence other settings (skybox, time flow, etc.) There's no option to enable or disable just the vertex normals, either, so you'll need to set the scene to indoors, then manually change the header to enable ex. the skybox.
  9. Sage of Mirrors: I really need to get back to Wind Viewer one of these days. There's already some changes not in the released build (somewhat better TP rendering support, IIRC), and I do have to add support for at least some of those chunks, yeah... Lord Ned: Good job with the model, also nice to see someone else interested in WW hacking Also, don't mind about having decompiled WV, I wanted to release the source anyway, I just didn't get to it yet.
  10. ...the video is unavailable in Germany because of music from UMG. Goddamn GEMA.
  11. It took some time to find out how to set everything up, fix eventual bugs and/or replace some of the old official tools with newer equivalents (Psymake vs GNU Make, for example). But after that, it's more or less just a matter of writing the code... and making graphics... and sound... and so on ^^" Heh, right now in this room... six? My main desktop, main laptop, a Gericom Celeron 400 MHz laptop (the Win2000 one), a Pentium D 2.66 GHz desktop with a BSOD problem (HDD failure?), a Dell Pentium 4M 2 GHz laptop, and an IBM ThinkPad Pentium MMX 166 MHz laptop. Also have some mainboards, half-complete desktops and a few Macs (iMac G3, a PowerBook) in the basement Edit: Make that five computers, I just put the Dell laptop back into the basement, where I in turn fetched a different keyboard for the PSX dev laptop. That PowerMac keyboard is cool and all, but the keyboard layout's too different for me - 10+ years old Logitech Corded iTouch Keyboard FTW! Edit 2: I'm crazy! Especially because I have no idea when I'll be bored by this, which is when I'll have to restore my desk to its previous state!
  12. Working PSX + Xplorer flashed with Caetla + a Windows 2000 laptop with a parallel port + a weird amalgamation of the official PsyQ PSX Devkit, MinGW and homebrew tools + hours upon hours of trying to get the whole LPT junk to work, on three different PCs and three different OS = ... ...what might someday become a game, transferred to the console via LPT, with working printf console output.
  13. Yeah, Xplorers/Xploders and Action Replays are kinda the GameSharks and Game Genies of Europe, or maybe the PAL territories in general, in terms of brand awareness or whatever.
  14. Please allow me to properly introduce everyone to my PSX (and its spare parts) now One Sony PlayStation, SCPH-7502 w/ non-stealth modchip and Xplorer FX cartridge One SCPH-7502 mainboard w/ non-stealth modchip and broken parallel I/O port One CD-ROM drive w/o spindle One bent controller port and memory card assembly One messy floor and shelf
  15. GCN TP is pretty similar to WW - in fact, Wind Viewer can be used to load and view its maps, although I don't think I've tried editing them; it should work, tho. Collision is in a different format in TP (KCL, I think), some chunks in the stage and room files differ, but they're still pretty close. SS on the other hand is a whole different beast, and I don't know much about it. There's some stuff going on ex. over on Unseen64's forums, with simple custom maps and stuff even, but AFAIK they don't even understand actors and other Zelda-specific stuff yet, and so far have relied on file format similarities between SS and other Wii games and just used Brawl Box (or whatever it's called).
  16. Simple problem and solution: the numbers on the map select are not the scene numbers. Scene number 108 would be entry 117:ささテスト (Sasatest) on the map select. Have a look at the scene listing on the wiki, as well as this translation of the map select if you're using a vanilla ROM. ...and there I was, too slow for Zeth (although I'm sure it's 117, not 118)
  17. And here I am, thinking that I'm still missing a bunch of great games for the Saturn ^^" To mind come Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon Zwei, Rockman X4 - because X3's Saturn and PSX ports are complete and utter shit -, a lot of shooters like Layer Section or Soukyuugurentai, then Virtua Fighter 2, Saturn Bomberman, Guardian Heroes... also still need to replace two of my PAL games with NTSC-J versions (Wipeout and Panzer Dragoon). Also would really love to have some Twin Sticks for Virtual-On, but they're usually not cheap and shipping from abroad would be killer...
  18. In short, I'd help with any kind of collaborative effort (tho my C's gotten a bit rusty), but I wouldn't want to be in charge of it. That'll just end like the SharpOcarina rewrite(s).
  19. Temporarily - because of too short wires - attached a PSone drive to the flea market PSX, and... it boots PAL games. The PSX is working! And... it boots my sole Japanese game! Woohoo! Aaaaand... it boots burned CDs!! OMG! Enter a CD-R of the Rockman DASH "Capcom Friendly Club" demo: (...and that CD was actually spinning ) (...and even on that photo one can see the messed up screen geometry of my TV; the image is tilted slightly to the right, for instance -.-)
  20. Man, the SNES controller I mentioned I got with the PSX has a cable break. At least one of the wires got cut at a specific point, so I need to bend the cable together for it to work... well, gonna swap the casing with one of my worse-looking controllers, then keep the broken one for eventual fixing
  21. Flea market day has come and gone... or, well, it's still going, but I'm back home now. Anyway, here's what I got: AeroGauge (N64, PAL, loose): 4€ original PlayStation, SCPH-7502 PAL (loose, with AV cable and a... SNES controller): 6€ AeroGauge works, not much else to say about it. It's not exactly a great game, but I had fun playing it emulated, so why not? As for the PSX... well, it's pretty beat up, the controller and memcard slots are bent inward slightly, and - what I only noticed when I tried to put a game in - it's missing the spindle that holds the CD in place. But everything else works, video and audio, controllers, memory cards, and, although I can't be sure since the drive's damaged as mentioned, it seems it might have a modchip installed. There's wires soldered onto the board in one corner, underneath some shielding that looks like it's been removed and resoldered to the board before, which go into something wrapped in red electrical tape. I don't have a photo of how it looked before, but after some scrubbing with... abrasive cleaner I think it's called? Whatever, some scrubbing with that later, the most severe dirt and grime is gone, as well as some sticker that was on the CD lid (DBZ's Vegeta, I think, it was pretty faded...). Also ended up buying some spare parts on eBay some 30 minutes ago (another mainboard, memcard/controller board, drive and wires) for another 13€. Hope I'll be able to get this to work again~ Will take a photo of the thing once/if it works, or at least once I put it back together
  22. I'm not even gonna start watching that video, the title's already enough of a clue as to what kind of person that guy is. Being "creeps" for watching a show for kids? Well, fuck you. No one's forcing you to watch it? Or did a brony (that is what you guys are called, right?), I dunno, kill your dog or steal your girlfriend or something? Making you build up some dumb agenda against them? Bet he's also one of those people - to go off on a sorta related tangent - who thinks that anime is just for kids as well, and all those guys going to ex. Otakon are creeps, too? No matter if a show's actually not at all aimed at kids, by airing at 2:30 AM or somesuch, for example? Man, I... I just can't understand people like this... This is probably the one thing I really dislike about the internet - the fact that it gives ignorant morons like this a platform to disseminate their prejudiced opinions.
  23. SEGA SATURN, SHIRO! ...although my Saturn isn't actually a white Model 2, it's a grey Model 1 Also, updated game list right here!
  24. I was thinking of watching it, but ended up choosing other shows instead... Right now I'm watching 4 different series, and am already a bit behind on two of them, so I probably won't get to watching SAO. A bit of a shame, too, since it does sound pretty cool...
