  1. gSPNumLights is called by the intro in Hyrule Field 50 times for two lights, by Kakariko 52 times for two lights, 10 times for 3 lights and 2 times for 4 lights, and by Kokiri 72 times for two lights and 4 times for 3 lights. So, having two lights actually does seem to be the norm, I think? (Interpreting RDRAM dumps is fun! Not. And I'm far from done...)
  2. RT @GoldS_TCRF: So it turns that out that Lakitu's Spiny egg throwing routine in SMB1 was bugged this whole time..for ~30 years.http://t.c…

  3. Shutdown, HDD into USB enclosure, plugged into laptop... works -fine-. What the hell is going on... desktop's PSU dying?

  4. 30°C+. Too. Damn. Warm.

  5. Neither; Model2F3DEX2, aka Project Mikan, aka the hardware-compatible one I linked to above. Not the most intuitive to use - as I didn't really get to working on usability before dropping it -, but the only one I'm sure (like, 99% sure) produces output that works on console, considering ex. HeavyZ's testing back then.
  6. Missing backface culling was an oversight on my part or something - IIRC it just doesn't enable it, but that shouldn't cause compatibility issues. The big problem with HT and Model2N64 is the vertex buffer, with it trying to load too many vertices at once, causing the N64 to crash. Discontinued, hardware-compatible converter: https://www.the-gcn.com/topic/1815-n64zelda-hacking-tools-dlist-conversion-etc/?p=45793 - more information (and... arguments) on the pages before.
  7. Conversions by Model2N64, and in turn Hylian Toolbox, overflow the vertex buffer, causing the console to crash. SharpOcarina doesn't do that, but might have other bugs that cause problems on console; not sure if anyone's ever tested maps made using it on hardware.
  8. Ukraine, Russia... Israel, Gaza... I don't know what to make of this day...

  9. Oh whatever, to hell with those PC problems for now (hopefully), time for #hanayamata ep 02!

  10. Yay, after Windows kept freezing up on me, one of my HDDs just disappeared! That thing's full to the brim, hope I can get it to reappear...

  11. Usually not a big football fan nor beer drinker. Now I'm both. Even though the beer's not very cold. But fuck that, we're world champions!

  12. It's interesting to hear that there's still inofficial updates being made for Windows 2000, although I probably shouldn't be surprised considering other things like KernelEx for Windows 98 I ended up installing this copy of Windows 2000 in VirtualBox by the way, just for the hell of it, and I might just try to update it as far as I can for the same reason... Not sure if I'll get to that today, but I will report back with my results later.
  13. As I was saying, if those RAM segments aren't set up the way they should, it won't work, and if something already contains commands that call segments 0x08 or 0x09, then they obviously are. I just mean that you shouldn't expect something that does not already use animated textures - say ex. the gravestone actor model or anything else like it - to suddenly animate if you just insert one of those commands into their display lists. I'm 99% sure you'll have to modify the actor's code for that.
  14. Not "generic" in the sense that you can put those commands into any display list and expect the texture to animate. If these RAM segments (0x08, 0x09) aren't set up, or not to what the game expects at this point, undefined behavior will happen, crashes being likely. Scenes set up these according to the barely documented "scene configuration" part of the scene table entry. There's another table elsewhere which that "scene configuration" value is an index into or somesuch. Forgot the details, but I remember posting about this before, either here or on z64. Dunno how actor models work, but I assume that each actor's code sets up RAM segments, etc. if needed. EDIT: First two spoiler blocks, also DeathBasket's post two posts later: https://www.the-gcn.com/topic/600-xdaniels-random-junk/page-4?hl=0x08&do=findComment&comment=10695
  15. ...and again! God damnit, I need to do some grocery shopping! STOP IT.

  16. Another season, another new bunch of anime, and as always the season preview on Random Curiosity gives a bit of an insight on the shows. And of those, in no particular order... Seen first episode / likely following: Sabagebu!, Hanayamata Downloaded first episode: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Barakamon, RAIL WARS! And although there's a few more interesting-sounding shows, I think I'd even be fine with just the two I've already started. ...oh, and before I forget, I WANT MORE NO GAME NO LIFE! <3 And more Jibril, because Jibril best girl! <333 EDIT: Oh man... just learned more about Tokyo ESP, which hasn't been on my radar at all. Now I'm intrigued by it - it's by the same mangaka as Ga-Rei. And at the same time, I'm not sure if I want to watch it, exactly because of that. Saw screenshots from Tokyo ESP episode 1, and I was like "Oh god, that's... no way it's them..." - there's cameos, if not proper appearances, of Kagura, Yomi and the guys who got killed in episode 1 of Ga-Rei Zero. Thus, flashbacks to said anime... to "Will you kill someone you love, because of love?"... to the OP and ED... ...ugh, yeah, Ga-Rei Zero was really good, but just remembering Yomi's fate and that of a bunch more characters... no thanks, I guess?
  17. ...but Ita and Spa did not get their original Eng-Ita-Spa release and have to play in Eng-Ger-Fra? Nintendo and the VC, great job as usual!

  18. ...tho the better question might be, why do I even still bother? That just reinforces how *insert description here* this "community" can be

  19. Should've just hardcoded any offsets etc I'll need, or load them from program-specific XML files, instead of making yet another behemoth

  20. 7-1. Holy shit. And, so, yeah, Germany's in the final.

  22. Come to think of it... Hey, Microsoft, I demand payment! Been advertising your 14 yrs old operating system here after all!

  23. ...and the lighting is horrible, and the camera is all shaky, and, and, and... a professional Youtuber I am not!
