Holy shit we're already like ten posts from seeing this not happen. Nine counting this one. Uh Bump.

That doesn't conflict with my postulation. Positive and negative infinity include every possible number that a in that example could be. Analytically, anything divided by zero (including zero itself) is undefined, but following mathematical theorems and by using calculus, you can come up with the answers I provided. Because the theorems I call upon are not stated to be exclusive of the indeterminate case, the math is still technically sound.

The definition of "possible" in the Zelda hacking community is horrendously ambiguous. So let me clarify. By the definition of the word it is absolutely possible, but it would involve some considerable skill in modification and hacking so as to make it impractical. Unless the model you intend to use has a bone structure identical to that of the Fierce Deity model (i.e. highly unlikely), a simple display list swap will not cut the job. Thus, you would either need to replace the model entirely and create new animations to fit the new model and bone structure, or modify the model to fit the old skeleton. The latter will very likely cause problems by having a different skeleton from the normal Link models, and the latter is considerably more difficult, especially because creating custom models in Majora's Mask has, to my knowledge, not yet been done, let alone attempted. So, possible, yes, but not particularly practical, especially with the necessary documentation to make this practical not yet existing.

Not cool, bro. Personal attacks don't make you any better.

Deku, changing your opinion without conceding your previous points may have been in error is often seen as self-contradiction and a folly in your argument within a debate. Just saying. The need for excessive polygons in models that often will not be visible on television screens under 80 inches, I think, is a byproduct of remarkable recent decline of average human education and intellect. The fact that a single genre of games--first-person shooters is what I will pick on in this instance--is able to sell essentially the same game over 20 times and the only major selling point is slight differences in the model types and weapon mechanics is, to me, frightfully depressing. What happened to the days when originality was all abound and stories and new gameplay features were what gamers sought in their collections and lavished their time playing? I, quite frankly, am drastically unsatisfied that the focus for many has shifted to a desire for stronger hardware solely for making polygons smaller and more numerous. Considering video games are now often considered (at least to some extent) a form of art, then like all art, a good video game should have some story or meaning to it. When's the last time you've seen someone buy a FPS game to play the single-player campaign? Let's take a step back--when's the last time that single-player campaign has even been worth your time? I don't see many recent cases. If the only thing people buy FPS games for is the multiplayer modes, and the graphics are all essentially of the same caliber, the only selling points left are presentation style of those graphics, and the game's engine. That completely throws out the potential for story which, in the interest of video games as an art, makes it essentially a blank canvas. I can't remember seeing one of those in any art museums I've visited. Left, then, to the potential meaning put into the game, few FPS games have anything to be proud of. The only messages I can see being conveyed are the importance of the soldier mentality of destroying everything different from you that is labeled by a superior entity as an enemy, or other similar ideas. I think it's safe to say this argument can be augmented to fit any other genre or series of video games that follow a basic cookie-cutter layout--certain fighter games which refuse to evolve in terms of gameplay, character usage, etc., some RPGs which retell a story that's literally been beaten to death and beyond. In general, video games are declining in originality and artistic credibility, and I find not only this in and of itself disappointing, but also the reaction that people have to this decline (or rather, the lack of any outcry, to be more specific) just as alarming, if not more so. Slightly breaks the consistency of the argument dealing with Skyward Sword, but whatever, wanted to just get my opinion in here.

Zero divided by anything is zero. Anything divided by itself is one. Anything divided by zero is considered to be positive or negative infinity (i.e. a vertical asymptote as seen in the function f(x) = 1/x) Ergo, the expression 0/0, the indeterminate, equals zero, one, and positive and negative infinity. I fail to see the world-breaking quality of such an expression.

PPF Studio is commonly identified as a trojan by many antivirus software programs. I suggest turning it off when you plan to create a patch, or create an exception for that specific program. Alternatively, you could use BPS, which boasts more features, a cleaner interface, and a single program that creates or applies patches. spinout suggested that we migrate to this protocol instead, and I've found it seems to be vastly superior to the PPF patches we've been using in the past.

For a reference, there's a pretty good repository of notes on MIPS Assembly on my site. Bear in mind it's written for advanced programmers, so it isn't easy for newbies to machine code to pick up. You can find it on my site in this directory. Note that if my website isn't loading right now, it's because my host hasn't renewed their domain which expired on the new year. It should be up within a few hours at the most.

This is more of a hoax than that dumb lady on Facebook who claimed she'd name her baby Optimus Prime if her group got a million members before it was born. She bailed at the last minute.

I WILL DRINK TO THAT. Seriously, I hated 2011 with the passion of seven million hells. I don't throw that expression around lightly.

Good to see you again, Nate. Zeth and I were just talking about how we miss the Shadowing Dawn project as one of those things that was probably too complex to work but was still totally awesome. XD Anyway, welcome back to the community!

I've had similar problems. Diagonal swings are more challenging than they really ought to be; puzzles that require such usually take unreasonably long times for me to complete because half the time I'm busy trying to get the trajectory right. Perhaps if they improved the sensitivity and calibration on the Wii MotionPlus, we could have something closer to a 1:1 movement ratio between controller and virtual sword.

They are leaked from the company that developed the game, usually from an employee or former employee who still has access to the old development builds. More often than not, a substantial bribe is given. For example, Cendamos supposedly paid $3,000 for the debug ROM for MM.
-
Majora's Mask is harder to hack without causing game-breaking glitches, and the debug version of the ROM is speculated to not, in fact, be the legit debug version, but may actually contain several hacks to present a reasonable facsimile of such a ROM (though the speculation lacks much convincing evidence, and it's unlikely with as little information as we have on hacking this game that someone could pull off such a hack). While ripping models, porting maps and some basic assembly hacks have been done for it (mainly by Zeth, JSA and DeathBasket, respectively), there's just not as much documentation on it because the Ocarina of Time debug ROM is so much easier to work with. Because most custom content is accepted without a problem, there are fewer commands and parameters that you need to understand, and other reasons, hacking OoT is generally preferable to MM.

Truly a shame, this would have been one of the most comprehensive dungeon mods released to date, along with a fully custom weapon. I have high hopes and well wishes for anyone who might take up the remnants of this project. Custom dungeons are one of my favorite aspects of Zelda modding.

Regarding ALttP, give them a little credit--this was way back in '92, and back then over half of the Zelda games currently released didn't even exist. It's quite possible that they have revised the fitting of the story with the release of new games, and instruction manuals usually only provide the scope of the game you're actually playing, so such a reference probably refers to Ganondorf's defeat within that game, or the previously released original Legend of Zelda. That said, Link's failure in OoT perfectly explains why there is no Ganondorf in ALttP but rather Ganon right of the bat--he already has the Triforce, which corrupted the Sacred Realm and turned it into the Dark World. The other two endings to Ocarina of Time (i.e. Link defeats Ganon) I think are pretty well-justified and line up with most people's existing theories, so I won't bother to address that. I don't think anyone ever really considered that a third branch existed in OoT, though, which surprised me quite a bit, but it does make sense to me. Even if this isn't an official release from Nintendo, this does seem to tie up all the loose ends pretty well and could be essentially the same as the official timeline. Also, @scream: http://nooooooooooooooo.com/ Sorry, just couldn't resist.
