You should probably start a help thread in the Q&A section, then. I seriously doubt spinout is willing to offer troubleshooting for obsolete programs, so if this program failed you then you'd be out of luck. In general, start with the newest stuff and if it doesn't work, make use of the debugger and report it to the developer so the program can improve.

Which is why I'll keep a close eye on this topic, Else. As for that woman leading the kids, my personal opinion... More specifically and sensibly, I disagree with the tactics used by the camp councilors to engross the children as well as the "us-or-them" mentality they convey. Such thought is unbecoming of young children and, if you ask me, contributes to teenage violence fundamentally. Besides, the lure to their religion is little more than activities and social events tiered to appeal to their age groups. It is not development of faith and devotion so much as simple psychological tricks designed to trigger a desired response. Were the kids actually given the chance to develop to the point where they can formulate their own opinions, I would wager significant amounts of money that the vast majority of them would reject the fire and brimstone teachings portrayed in this video.

I'll be here all the past hour. Also, you're welcome, Ganondork. I needed an excuse to abuse admin paorz. \o/

Yes. YES HOLY CRAP YES. THE ROFLCOPTERS: THEY HAVE DEPLOYED. True story: First time I've ever seen any MLP clips at all.

Only to the thread creator possibly, but for this section, I'm personally not going to moderate any derails unless specifically asked to do so by said thread author. EDIT: Holy crap, how could I forget this? Actually relevant--you'd think the word replacement was hardly necessary by the imposed censoring.

Overcensoring is always good (when done correctly, anyway). Creepiness will help maintain some coherence in this thread, too.

This is the Randomness section, so topic hijacking is not nearly as frowned upon as it is elsewhere on the forum. So as not to seem contradictory in my encouragement to follow the rules everywhere else, this. Seriously, what the fuck are we exposing our children to?
-
I smell a completely haxx0red post, in addition to a semi-hijacked thread... This calls for special measures as an administrator.

You called?

These are Langoliers, creatures created by Steven King which, in the book and movie of the same title, eat the past to avoid the universe getting cluttered, essentially. Sounds about right. Creepypasta is just for entertainment purposes only. As TV Tropes only too often points out, your mileage may vary, so drink responsibly.

Welcome to the GCN, BullockDS. I hope you enjoy your stay here, and if you're interested in the URA Project, you'll be glad to know that a website devoted to its coverage in-depth is currently in the works. And no worries if you're not familiar with game hacking; we welcome anyone and everyone to our community regardless of their skills. If you have any questions, feel free to PM myself or any other member of the staff.

Pretty sure that article is just saying that sometimes a children's television show can be somewhat terrifying, not more terrifying than all the world's real horrors as Ganondork mentioned.

Didn't know you could use less than eight notes for the song. Anyway, mine is L X Y A L X Y A. It's what my dad came up with when he was first playing the original OoT waaaay back when I was 5 and afraid to pick up the controller.

SharpOcarina - Zelda OoT Scene Development System
Secant replied to xdaniel's topic in Community Projects
I should really learn to read posts before replying to them. Or something. In that case, I dunno, maybe SO is reading the map correctly but the N64 engine is sensitive to some error that SO isn't? I guess it depends on how accurate the rendering engine is. xdaniel (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) could probably shed some more light on this, I'd bet. >.> -

I am nearly 100% certain that the UV mapping glitches are a fault of SketchUp's object exporter, not of SharpOcarina, as these errors have been plaguing me as well since spinout's very first model converter. If the same thing is cropping up on even a completely re-written tool, chances are more likely it's not a fault of the import. Do the errors appear in the map preview in SharpOcarina? If so, then I'd say that's just about enough to guarantee the source of the problem. -
I think their killing point was saying that the model translated to the equivalent of about 16 trillion polygons. Of course that's entirely unrealistic using polygons, but as an analogy, compare resolution sizes of bitmaps versus JPEGs--both images can be of the same size and comparable detail, but one is vastly smaller in filesize. What's to say an algorithm can't be written similarly for 3D models instead of 2D images that creates more detail (in terms of resolution--or rather, in this case, in terms of atom count) and uses less space?

After watching the and seeing some of the specific combat mechanics and character nuances, this actually looks like a pretty solid game. The realistic motion control seems to add a degree to the skill required in actually fighting, especially considering angle of attacks. This could be especially fun for the classical Dead Man's Volley games the series likes to sport.

Free? Multiplayer? 3DS? Sir, you had me at "Why don't we step into my office." I was wondering why this was taking so long, honestly. XD

There will always be a place for retro graphics. Old 8-bit games being re-released for the Virtual Console on the 3DS are a prime example. As Arcaith said, graphics are not what make or break a game; sometimes gameplay really is enough to overhaul the enjoyability of the game. Hell, sometimes it's the low-quality graphics that actually make the game have its appeal (see Videlectrix from Homestar Runner, for example, many of their games are quite entertaining).

Sums up my situation, and I've been ridiculously busy with RL such that I barely have time to test utilities.
-
I just now realized how incredible an executive decision my career choice is. Superb, it should be said. I didn't expect atomic graphics to come along for several decades yet.

Long overdue image is long overdue. Whatever. LOL NEVER MIND THIS PICTURE IS TERRIBLE Myself and my lovely girlfriend ex Samantha celebrating our fourth anniversary. <obligatory LIKE A BOSS/PRO/CHAMPION reference> -
If it doesn't import textures, then your map will be invisible. Worst comes to worst, find a serial for SketchUp 8 or something and snag that object exporter plugin to use it, it works well enough. <obligatory "admin is not promoting pirating" comment>

Haven't tried TIG's specifically but I'm pretty sure it'll work. Yeah, you can use whatever textures you want. Did you think that for my -as- I used ones only ripped from the ROM? Where would the fun be in that? XD
