What is causing chests to already be open in dungeons?
Arcaith replied to giadrosich's question in Q & A
Yeah, both chests share the same flag. Change the last digit of either. -

Are you sure you didn't change the flags? Post the variables for each chest, along with which chest contains what. -
And are you having any trouble with a clean copy of the ROM? One other question; what text are you editing, and what are you changing it to?

Flags are common to all actors within a scene, so it might be linked to another actor, not necessarily a chest. Just keep changing the flag on both the switch and the chest until there isn't a conflict. You can alternatively check all the actors in the scene that could be tied to flags, but that would likely take longer. -
You might want to adjust your texture scaling a little bit; it makes Link and Grog look taller than normal.

If you can track it down, Zelda Edit (a very old program) has a byteswapper. Alternately, look for a ROM that ends with a .z64 extension, rather than .n64.

I'm very fond of orchestral/chamber music of all kinds.

Try editing text on an unmodified ROM. Also, try byteswapping the ROM and see if that makes any difference to the outcome. Use a hex editor to check/byteswap files.

Scroll of Time, New OoT Text Editor!
Arcaith replied to
SanguinettiMods's topic in Community ProjectsOkay, two things. First of all; there's no need to be rude. Second, if you can, provide information on what you edited, whether you'd made any other alterations to the ROM, and any other relevant information such as whether the ROM is byteswapped to big or little endian. You can check that in a hex editor. As a final note, I assume you keep backups? Any time you use a new tool on a ROM, especially one you've already edited with any other tools, creating a backup is the best course of action. -
N64/Zelda hacking tools (DList conversion etc)
Arcaith replied to xdaniel's topic in Community Projects
xdan, I love you so much for implementing the actor definitions idea Perfection -
If you really want to troll people, you could always append an additional box of collision to the scene around the boss exit. The doorway itself already has a collision face, which the door actor bypasses, so if you placed another 5 collision planes around the exit collision, facing outwards, it'd be impossible to get to the boss exit without at least having the key to the boss door.

The red of the gauntlets may be vertex shading, in which case you'll need to edit the vertex colours on the model itself.

!IMPORTANT! Prevent mods from freezing on some emulators.

Try using Rice's/Mudlord's plugin instead. -
Heya, welcome I look forward to seeing your work.

Gaming has become marketable to a broader audience. That's really the only thing that has changed. CEOs are realising that the traditional demographic of 'gamers' is only one small fraction of a larger market. There are certainly fadlike games, but as a whole, the industry is still ultimately responding to the entire spectrum of gamers. The definition, and therefore the 'image' of gamers, is changing to fit a broader spectrum. That's not inherently a bad thing, but it does lead to some bad business practices, like shovelware and rebranded 'same shit, different year' type games.

The main issue I have with a lot of games lately is that they stick to a genre format far too religiously, and end up fundamentally predictable. I actually like that PSAS is on the surface similar to SSB, because it then subverts expectations for people who like the genre, and who can walk away with a new experience. I still don't like the design of the PS controller, though, so that's really what ruins the game for me. I'm accessing by mobile, don't count on swift replies.

Welcome back to the Zelda community Airi XD

Honestly, I think Gamemaker was less buggy when it was just Mark working on it.

I wouldn't let it get to you. Some people are like that, and have little regard for the way others are feeling. It's best to avoid being defensive, if you can steer the conversation into neutral topics, do so. Most important thing to remember is that they aren't censoring themselves, because they aren't really able to. Keep that in mind, because they're going to be brutally honest, and will expect you to agree with them. Otherwise, you seemed to handle it okay. I'd also keep in mind that if you repeatedly make yourself available, they'll take advantage of that, especially when drunk. Don't let yourself become a doormat, because people, especially when drunk, will cling to people that make things happen for them without effort on their part.

There are a lot of disparities in terminology used by communities like this, and they usually arise from the early days of said communities. Having said that, using logical instead of virtual would be pointless, given that the files it references are decompressed when loaded into memory therefore they change in size and location, hence the reason why two offsets are specified in the filetable.

Hnnng D: I WANT BOTH OF THESE ROMS. SO MUCH.

A thought; textures probably animate along the V axis, vertically from top to bottom as viewed in the unwrapper.

I have worked with Gamemaker, though not recently. I started using it back in version 4.3.

I actually have a Saturn, but it only came with a Mega Drive controller XD
