Hex can be a bit confounding at first, but the best part to keep in mind is that hex can be easily split into segments. While textures are just random scattered data, they are not split into segments, but the majority of hex is either code or reference data split into 4-bytes per command. Object files have command segments of joined 4-byte segments and can be segmented into 8 bytes. Reading hex isn't the only thing you should do... ROM is one thing, but I'm beginning to learn how RAM works with it. I would recommend getting used to ROM hex though. Some would recommend RAM hex, but I say it all depends on what you can get used to. RAM can be confusing without knowing the data before it gets run. HxD is a really good free hex editor, and I can give you some shortcuts and pointers on how to use it to make things easier.

You, sir, have given me a brilliant idea! -
I like what you did, awesome! I will figure out music someday, and a tutorial would help. I don't need to change any music yet though.

You mean this? Today is weird Bieber day.

Zelda's Eternal Youth Hack - [MORE UPDATES!!!]

Is that a chomp/Bow wow from mario? I guess you could say from Links Awakening too Yup... in fact the inspiration came from Link's Awakening, and the fact that Zelda has a bunch of Mario-related easter eggs in it. -

That is really amazing for something done in Google Sketchup. I prefer the tidyness of blender as I have tried Sketchup before, and I guess it depends on how you find it? I am uncomfortable with the controls in Google Sketchup, so perhaps I missed something when using it. No matter though, Blender converts obj files pretty decently. Imperfect, but I re-convert the file to be used in xdan's Model2N64. I really like the style this is in... was this part of the Gerudo Fortress's rooms? That's really interesting that you say that because I, for the life of me, can't figure out blender. Granted, I haven't read or watched any tutorials on it....which I have been meaning to do...but SketchUp is really weird at first but after getting used to it, it's not so bad in my opinion. I can't imagine trying to make something like those hands in bobbo's map though... Makes sense.... blender was the same way at first, but it's gotten easier to use. It's really difficult to know what to do in it without knowing what you want to do. Like if you need to do some UV Mapping, Blender is easy to get confused in, especially when they keep changing the layout each upgrade. However, when you know where to look, it makes it easier to understand. Using it to its full potential really takes some skill and shortcuts. You can rotate your camera with ctrl+alt or shift+alt while using the mouse wheel, or pan your view by holding shift or ctrl while scrolling the middle mouse wheel. Took me a while to learn those tricks, but after some practice it made editing easier. Otherwise getting a proper view of your work is a pain. I can almost create anything in blender now... I still haven't figured out texture mapping, but I'm sure there's a way to do it. EDIT: Also, making hands is always tricky, but starting with an isosphere for the palm really helps, then you just extrude some faces to make fingers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT 2: More items coming up in my mod "Zelda's Eternal Youth": More here: http://www.the-gcn.com/topic/1747-zeldas-eternal-youth-hack-oot-mod/page-2?do=findComment&comment=36184 -
Zelda's Eternal Youth Hack - [MORE UPDATES!!!]
Airikita replied to Airikita's topic in Modifications
Thanks Three_Pendants. I wouldn't say it was a complete headache to get it to work, and to find it wasn't too bad. I would say that the map save hack only works for kid Link. There might be a way to do it for both, but the changes are pretty simple. It's a 4-byte change for kid Link and likely another 4-byte change for adult Link. (P.S. Sorry I took so long to respond, I've been back and forth with different things) -

The latest items: I have not edited the text for the clock yet, obviously, but it will be called "Majora's Clock" for lack of a better term. I have some ambitious modifications for the clock, so I'm going to make some awesome effects from this item. Modifying the clock has taken some time... I have already modified 4 things to get the clock started, but I am far from finished. EDIT: The clock currently works, but it does nothing. It will start a new timer but the timer needs to be set. A generic variable "0000" is used and has to be changed in order for the clock to work properly. For now the timer starts at 00:00 and counts up, so a variable needs to be set for the timer to count down. I also have to add something else to the clock's actor to function a certain way. A total of two code hooks will be added to accomplish this. Also, a mirror item will be added to send kid Link to another world. But this will be looked at later on in the modifications. I have not decided what Link will look like in the other world (hopefully a Dark World) but I will have to figure out a way to control where Link goes when the Mirror is used. This may be a challenge, and there is no real guarantee it will work, however there is always a way that it can work. -

Pretty epic bobbotheclown, I like the fact that the wall structure looks like giant arms. -
Not sure if Bieber knows what he(she) is doing... Penis envy or oblivious perhaps?

No insult intended by this image, but I'm sure this one tops funnyjunk: (btw, I can't tell what the image above is supposed to be, so I'm going in blind!)

N64/Zelda hacking tools (DList conversion etc)
Airikita replied to xdaniel's topic in Community Projects
Sort of... it has a new effect that will be useful in a custom dungeon... I might have it used in a few dungeons, but for now I'm not sure. I could make it act as a clock from Zelda 1, but currently I am fustrated that the converter is not working correctly. -

I don't know if it's the fact that it's a gi object, or that your converter is just not cooperating... I have been unable to get it to work for gi items for some things... (P.S. Clock has a texture, and I only converted one piece individually, not extra groups) -
It might work if the expansion pack was compatible, but you would still eventually end up with a slow down/crash because the influx of Moblins would be infinite.
-
Time for major artillery.
-
It seemed stable, since I kept moving... but when you kill one Moblin, two more will spawn without the conditions to stop it. So, eventually it will crash or slow down if you hang around in one spot for too long. As you probably noticed, in one point, Link was unable to use his spin charge with the influx of Moblins taking over the processing space.

I love the level designs... eventually I will start designing dungeons based on a generator, but I'm taking baby steps to make small touch-ups for the game. I could add new maps to the game, it doesn't need to be limited to what there is. -

The new logo has been decided: Thanks to everyone who has voted, I will do what I can to get the title screen edited sometime. I will have to vanish from the web for a week since my internet is tanking data, and is reaching the quota. I likely won't be updating unless I do so at the wifi at my school. EDIT: Since I can't upload the official screenshot of my latest item, here is an artistic representation of a new item: It needs a name, however, and I don't know what to call it... -
Well, after a few hours it seems the Cucco is winning by a landslide, and I agree... the colors of the Cucco do accent the logo nicely, although I'm sure that's not the only reason why it was picked. I have made my decision, and I do feel that the logo fits in nicely for sure. Thank you everyone for voting. If a moderator could lock this topic and the poll, that would be appreciated~

Oh snap! Zombie just got an upgrade!!!
-
Yes please vote in the poll because that will determine the decision, not how people feel about the theme of the logo picked. Although personal opinions and sentiments are important and do play a role.
