  1. TO MAKE THIS PERFECTLY CLEAR, I'M GOING TO PUT THIS AS LARGELY AND AS DISGUSTINGLY AS I CAN. I'M DONE IN THIS THREAD, THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS/CHALLENGES, BUT I'M DONE WITH IT, IT JUST CAUSES ME STRESS WHENEVER I COME BACK. FRANKLY, I HAVE MORE IMPORTANT SHIT ON MY MIND THAN THIS THREAD, SO YOU'RE ALL WELCOME TO COMMANDEER IT, BUT KEEP IN MIND, I REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PARTICULAR THREAD, WHICH I CREATED, ANY LONGER. I WILL NOT RESPOND TO ANY CHALLENGES, I WILL NOT RESPOND TO ANYTHING.

Haha get it because it's in comic sans hey gaiz am I cool yet

  2. Are you serious, Hellspawn? Did you actually just try to start a debate thread, then blatantly toss aside a very well thought-out reply to your comments and then have the nerve to essentially call that person an idiot without even reading what they had to say or defending yourself from their posts? I fail to see how an action like that is anything different from the asinine individuals you've been spending your time condemning with decidedly elitist remarks. If you're going to use this thread as a dumpster for your ill-placed frustrations to make bigoted remarks rather than open-mindedly debate a concern you have, you can expect it to end up locked very promptly.

Yes, I threw away his well thought-out reply because he obviously didn't bother to pay me the courteousy of properly reading my responses. As I said to Blinx, I don't always think of things I want to say until I'm asked about them. I've been questioned on the same thing at least 5 times in this thread, of which, he is one. I'm tired of responding to this post already. I just wanted to rant, create some friendly discussion, but no, everyone straight up attacked me, except maybe 3 people.

By the way, I decided, after you said that, to read more critically what he had to say.

The reality is, the most progress will be

made by individuals that are passionate about the field they're

contributing to. You even mention some of them, these are the

intellectuals who end up expanding our collective knowledge. Does that

need to be every single person though? Absolutely not, life is entirely

too short to force people into things that they don't enjoy. If someone

wants to spend their life running a café because they love to chat with

customers, why look down on them? It's great to respect the people who

do make massive contributions, but disrespecting the people who don't is

flat out wrong. Progress will continue to be made, and by the right

    people for the job.

Just take a look at the massive change in

technology over the last 20 years. The more progress that gets made,

the easier it is to make future progress. Or go back even further and

look at how things have changed over the last few hundred years. Only

three hundred years ago, the average person couldn't even read. Just let

that soak in, something as basic as reading was beyond the average

person's grasp, and you're going to say that we're less intellectual as a

whole now, or that things are getting worse? It was just recently that

the internet became wide spread, now the average person has access to

more information than they could ever consume during a life time. Even

something we take for granted today like negative numbers, wasn't truly

sorted out until the 18th century. Now we expect any student to

understand them intuitively, and we have a base of education that every

person is required to go through. Our standards are getting much higher

    over time, not lower.

On top of all that, lets take a look at

how laws have changed over time. I mentioned that Canada legalized

same-sex marriage about seven years ago now, there's a trend of society

becoming more accepting of people. Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1

(1967) banned any laws prohibiting interracial marriage in the United

States. That was only forty years ago! Before forty years ago, you

couldn't marry someone with a different ethnicity. Again, things getting

better rather than getting worse. I could provide so many examples of

laws becoming more sane, we're moving in a positive direction and only

more rapidly as time goes on. Society is becoming more accepting, not

    less.

I should clarify, I was more referring to societal decline, not scientific decline. Also, my rage is more directed at the past 5-10 years. The 100 year remark was more along the lines that each generation seems to think the succeeding generation is falling to shit, not that I believe so myself, at least not the past whole 100 years, we've made great strides, be it Civil Rights movements (which as previously stated, I consider HUMAN rights), technological advances, or scientific advances, we HAVE advanced, tremeandously at that.

With that in mind, here's some examples of societal downfall.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I'm not huge on gun control, but Alex is fucking crazy!

Saying this is "just your opinion" is a cop-out. You are making an

assertion, it's either true or it's not; you should be able to back it

    up. "I don't like <type of music>" is an opinion. Instead, you're

trying to present a weak argument based on things that have no

correlation about the degredation of humanity. Why is a song that one or

two people worked on, inherently better than a song that many people

worked on? That's not even accurate anyways, "Friday" was "written and

produced by Los Angeles record producers Clarence Jey and Patrice Wilson".

That's two people, you made no point there. I could do some more

digging, I also remember reading that a lot of the big pop hits were

written by a single person. That's how I feel about the whole issue. Can

you give even a shred of evidence that Gangnam Style and Ke$ha are bad

things, beyond that you don't like them? If not, maybe you need to admit

that you're falling victim to human nature yourself, with this whole

elitist rant as a way for you to feel superior to other people based on

    an arbitrary preference.

Society is progressing remarkably, despite something so horrendous as people enjoying catchy music.

Wanna know some recent pop hits?

Here's some eloquently worded lyrics about the angst, I mean joy, of a rich man fucking his friend's girl, something about a car, and the colors black and yellow.

    ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED

But seriously, if this is not proof that music today, for the most part, is absolutely horrible, then I don't know what you could consider horrible. AIDS maybe?

To address the point of Gangnam Style and Kesha, you're right, there's no proof that they're horrible, that's just my opinion. However, the evidence placed above should suffice. (I never mentioned Psy as a horrible thing, Kesha's just a shitty role model, and Lady Gaga... Well, there's no combination of words in the english language to describe the wtf value she draws from me, but there's nothing particularly wrong with liking her music, I just think it sucks ass, but that's purely subjective. However, I do think Lady Gaga's a great role model with her recent participation in anti-bullying efforts. (The examples I stated in previous responses weren't quite what I was wanting to put as HORRIBLE, but they were the first to come to mind, and not much thought was put into them, so I apologize for poor examples, but as stated above, there is a literal definition of horrible in the music industry that doesn't need to be heard to be scorned.))

  3. I kinda get what you mean: yeah, a lot of folks are quick to follow, easy to be fooled, so naive.

And a lot of people like the new stuff, and hate on the "intellectuals".

But that's just people's "opinion". It's what makes humanity so great. It's free, and its yours.

You can't force someone to like certain things; that's just how people are.

But I get what you're getting at, HellSpawn.

    Peace.

As I said in a couple other posts, my opinions aren't about shoving things down peoples' throats, it's just my opinion on the subject of music, but thank you for not having a hostile response like seemingly everyone else in this thread...

  4. Apparently you've been discussing another things. My point was rather how some people accept things so easily and that sort of sabotages the democracy system.

Not only in my country, there were many times when the media influence helped, actively or passively, to elect some messed up politicians, despite their corrupt past.

Back on topic, I could still argue some music will help steer people towards consumism and "life is short" and how these people would affect the world around me but, seriously, it won't change fuck, so I'll do the usual: deal with it.

I wasn't quite going for that argument, but ok... And I do deal with it, I just decided to open a discussion, but at this point, I kind of regret it because I've come to find people resenting me for having an opinion that differs from theirs. :

  5. Look, I'm as big of a Freddy Mercury fan as anyone, but you do realize that is a completely inaccurate statement by stating those people, right? Because you know, they were fads once too? They were called the Devil's music back when these people were in business. People thought it was mindless and a horrible excuse for music. So basically, people felt the same as you, and look where that got them? Right here. You, by your logic, are not part of the solution. You're part of the problem. Of course, there isn't a problem unless someone makes one.

    Just some food for thought.

The people who said that it was mindless didn't bother to ACTUALLY listen to it, it was probably some Fred Phelps fuck who said "God hates Queen" or some shit and every stereotypical Christian Republican mother ever (my grandma) hopped on the bandwagon of "IT'S THE DEVIL'S MUSIC!" And how the FUCK am I part of the problem for liking Queen? Yeah, it was a fad, but for a good fucking reason. First of all, Freddy Mercury was an INCREDIBLE singer, the likes of whom are few and far in between. Second, Queen's music was written by one person and had some of the best lyrics of ANY bands to this day. Meanwhile, cookie-cutter garbage, like today, is written by 24 corporate douche-bags in an office trying to sell records, not even bothering to write something that means anything. Third, if I was part of the problem, I'd be listing shit like Donnie and Marie, not Queen, not Steve Vai. Yeah, they trended in the rock and early metal scenes, but not EVERYTHING THAT TRENDS IS MINDLESS. Queen's music is relevant TO THIS DAY, see Justin Beiber in 10 years, he's going to be as relevant as NSync or the Backstreet boys.

  6.   Are you honestly suggesting that civil rights activists are a bad thing, because they disappointed their previous generation?

Are you seriously that thick dude? No, I wasn't, I was referring to how the generation before civil rights activists became more known and how THEY responded. I'm all for equal rights, no one should be given anything less than HUMAN rights.

I skimmed the rest of it, so I'll give you my opinion on that.

I said nothing about people who run café's, I was referring to people that leave their kids at home so they can go party. Do what makes you happy, just don't hurt people or impose your shit on anyone else.

Saying "this is just my opinion" is NOT a cop-out, it's me stating that this is my opinion. It's not fact, it's how I see things.

Take it how it is and stop reading into shit like it's some fucking conspiracy, I'm speaking broadly and directly, I'm not inferring anything subliminal about peoples' rights, I'm not saying people shouldn't like what they like I'm saying my opinion on what I consider shitty music and the general mass of people who mindlessly listen to it. If you look at it more than surface level, great, more power to you, but if you're going to be so blatantly empty-headed that you'll follow any trend that comes up like a mindless automaton, I won't even bother. Why? I CAN'T STAND IDIOTS.

  7. You know what I think? I think you give way too much of a damn about what other people like.

What gives you that impression? The fact that I gave my opinion on the downward spiral that is musical talent in today's age? I was more giving my opinion on shitty music than anything, but I also decided to throw in my opinion of the general population of people that like what I consider shitty music. Frankly, I give no fucks about what anyone else likes. If someone shows me something and I happen to appreciate it, cool, that's mainly how I discover new music. If someone shows me something and I dislike it but they appreciate it on a level I see as asinine, then I'll tell them to their face that what they're showing/playing for me sucks ass. I don't rely on others' opinions to form my own, otherwise what you said would be accurate.

  8. I guess the core of problem here is whether people will listen to some music because "everyone else" is doing it or because they actually like it.

Take an hypotetical song that will be a pop hit in 8 from years from now. A lot of people wouldn't enjoy it if you presented it to them today,

but just wait those few years: a little buzz around it and they'll love it.

A great deal of people don't question what's being given to them and just go with the flow, so media overexposure will eventually make them like anything.

"So, this shouldn't be a big deal, it's just music taste after all."

Well, it is until it drifts from the realm of entertainment and escalates into ideology. So, yeah, you get a mass of people advocating for causes they didn't clearly think through.

FINALLY!!!! SOMEONE WHO GETS EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'VE GIVEN ME A BRAINER FOR PROPERLY EXPRESSING HOW I'VE BEEN FEELING!!!!!!!! :D

  9. Hence my assertion that generalizations in situations such as this are inappropriate, and the example you highlight above is exactly why, Tell-Tale.

I wasn't implying that ALL people who listen to it are morons, just a large percentage. Nero was right on the money. Hell, I can give you an example of someone who isn't a complete buffoon who listens and enjoys that kind of music. My girlfriend. She's 19 years old, which is 11 months older than me, she works at a Micheal's art supplies store, and aspires to open an art gallery. She enjoys almost everything by Lady Gaga, she thinks Kanye West is the genius child he claims to be, and she's obsessed with the show Supernatural. While I can't talk crap about Supernatural (namely because I've never seen it), it's trending.

Now, while all of these things are true, she also doesn't just look at people at surface value, she doesn't like Lady Gaga just because she made songs about sex and drugs. She has her reasons for liking things like that, but she also sees that there's much more talented people that have lived, like Ludwig Van Beethoven,  Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. If you'd like more relative/recent examples, John Lenon of the Beatles, Freddy Mercury of Queen, Maynard James Keenan of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifier, Ronnie James Dio of Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio, Heaven and Hell, and COUNTLESS other projects he's done, and Steve Vai who's famous for even more work than Dio's done! While there's far more extremely talented people who became famous that I'm not listing, that's not due to disrespect, that's due to the fact that they happened not to be at the top of my head at the moment I thought of those people.

Anyhow, I digress, the one person I've truly felt a real connection with happens to enjoy these things, and I don't see her for anything less than the incredibly intelligent, witty, funny, kind-hearted, cut the bullshit woman that she is.

You may be asking, Hellspawn, what are you trying to say, what the hell's your point?

My point is, Not everyone who listens to trending music's a dolt, just a large majority of them are, especially people who listen to pretentious rap that talks about nothing but "I got this, I got that, chick on my balls, you smell what the rock's cookin?" kind of shit.

    tl;dr

not everyone who listens to trendy music's retarded, just most of them.

  10. Oh, so you're saying that degredation in music is a degredation in humanity?Sure, music is a huge media and there's a lot of money put into it, but I don't think that it destroys society as a whole. As Nero said, technology and many other things are advancing, even if music taste is changing.

No, but generally the people that follow it are just sheep that follow the herd, ergo, mindless.

You finally went into more depth with your argument! Isn't it fun to actually explain things in full detail!? Next time, do that first and foremost when making an argument. It would have made things much easier for me and others who've participated in this topic.

I don't always think of the things people question me on until they question me on them.

Anyway, that rambling aside, I'm basically in agreement with Nero here. A disaster such as 1984 or Idiocracy is so monstrously unlikely that it's probably never going to happen, and humanity is still advancing regardless of how stupid a few members of the species can be.

    Nero's right on the money.

  11. I'm not going to bother reading the rest of your comment, I'm just gonna say that I'm not saying everyone needs to conform to my taste, I'm just saying that that cookie cutter, mindless, soulless, and otherwise horrid excuse for music shouldn't be as popular as it is. Music used to be written by 1 person, maybe 2 or 3, and they used to be in the band, i.e. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Now it takes 24 people to write Friday by Rebecca Black.

The degradation of what we as humanity considers music is becoming more and more shallow, less and less talented, and overall, just horrible.

I'm not saying EVERYONE who listens to these things I consider the bane of my existence to be morons, I'm mainly referring to teenyboppers who listen to it and see it as a good example to follow by, I'm referring to people who think Justin Beiber's god himself and proceed to cut their wrists because they think he's smoking pot, I'm referring to the drunk mothers who leave their kids at home to be babysat by Call of Duty while they're out dancing to Kesha. You know, the absolutely deplorable, selfish, sad excuses for human beings whom are currently a waste of space.

By the way Blinx, this is just my opinion. As outspoken and seemingly overzealous as I've been in the past, I stand by what I'm saying. FUCK STUPID PEOPLE.

  12. My hope is that one day we as a species will leave anything pointless behind, namely shit like gangnam style, lady gaga, kesha, etc, and embrace a more intellectual phenomenons and people like Carl Sagan, Bill Nye, the writings of George Orwell, and MANY more intellectuals who actually want to further our species as a whole, not just live in the now and party.

If you think humanity will even ever come close to the characters of Idiocracy, you're incredibly wrong. It's not happening. Ever.

Some people are already there. Especially in the city I'm trapped in. In the words of the great Mufasa, "I'm surrounded by idiots..."

Not saying everyone in my city is completely moronic, I've found my share of relatively smart people who actually KNOW their head from their ass, but having a job in the service industry (movie theater)... it changes your perspective on people. They don't listen, they're selfish, and they don't respect anyone but themselves.

Maybe I'm just reading too much dark shit like Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Fight Club, maybe I need to check my perspective, but I'm losing hope in humanity.

  13. Has anyone noticed that for the past 100 years, just about every generation has been disappointed in the following generation for one reason or another? Whether it's the flappers of the 20's, the feminists of the 30's and after, civil rights activists ALL throughout history, the hippies of the 60's and afterward, and now, whom my friends and I refer to colloquially as "wiggers", aka, "white trash". Is society systematically degenerating? Is the concept of Mike Judge's "Idiocracy" plausible in the next few hundred years, if even THAT? What if we're all speaking a hybrid of gang-banger and redneck in 20 years? What if Fuddruckers turns into Butt Fuckers? What if a Starbucks changes from a delightful cup of coffee into a handjob?

Worse yet, as I'm sure you're all aware, our privacy has become increasingly insignificant in the eyes of the government and the corporations that REALLY run the show behind the curtain. Is George Orwell's "1984" going to become a reality? Has it already, and we're all too blind to see it? Has Big Brother loomed in over us, drawing the wool over our eyes to keep us from seeing our diminishing rights?

I'm gonna get off my soapbox before I turn into the crazy guy on the corner screaming the end is nigh, kthxbai...

    **edit**

This isn't meant to alienate anyone, it's meant to express my feelings on the subject of cookie-cutter music that creates a mindless populous.

It's also meant to generate conversation.

  14. I own the 3rd version of the original console, the Arcade console, and my dad owns the slim. While I prefer the slim because it runs certain games at higher framerates, I prefer the older systems. Why is it you ask? The newer systems aren't backwards compatible with the list of backwards compatible games unless you buy the internal harddrive you insert by removing the bottom panel.

    Fuck you Microsoft, fuck you.

  15. Playing one of the very common and stereotypical (also untrue) cards against the USA again, I see.

Trust me, plenty of people take responsibility for their actions here, Naxy, and to say otherwise is just dumb.

Sadly, you're wrong. I've seen it happen time and time again, parents buy their kids a game without even realizing/recognizing the ESRB rating. However, you are right, there are indeed many times when parents will actually take the time to do their damn job and properly raise their child. Here's an example. When I was VERY young, about 4-6 years old, my dad let me play games like Doom 64, Unreal, and let me watch him play RE and RE2, which even as I look back, wasn't the worst decision he's made, mainly since he always defined the very fine line between fiction and reality. A couple years after my parents split and I was living with just my mom, my mom said I wasn't allowed to play any M rated games. Then when I was 11, she saw I was mature enough to play M-rated games and let me play them again. The only game I wasn't allowed to play, under my dad or mom's rules, was the GTA series.

At this point I'm rambling. My point is, there are SOME responsible parents, but there are plenty of irresponsible parents that stick their kid in front of a TV with CoD and say "play this, I don't wanna deal with you today." Then that kid grows up as a sociopath and bam, radical left OR right wing parents retaliate and scapegoat video-games again.

Haven't seen you in awhile. ^_^ Anyways, Yea it's pretty insane on how the kids get the games, they either lie about their age. Or they let their parents buy it for them. :P

As Jotokun said, a kid can pirate a game they want without their parents' knowledge or consent, but another way, if the kid is sly/clever enough, is to order it online. There's no way for them to do an age check outside of "When were you born?" before they ask for the address.

Another random point, unrelated to either post I was responding to, Video-games will never be banned for 2 reasons. 1, it's considered art, so that violates the 1st amendment if they ban it. 2, it's the same reason they don't ban porn, it's a vice, and it sells. In the words of JonTron while playing Mario Party in the cliche Russian persona Malkovich's voice, "I tell you once, I tell you twice, giant spider good for economy!" While this is out of context, I feel it fits what I mean, even if it's humorous in nature.

**EDIT** Blinx was right, I missed his point, he wasn't saying it doesn't happen, he was saying it about blindly insulting an entire country, though I don't see it as entirely wrong, we've become the laughing stock of the world. Personally, I want to change that.

  16. This topic is so relevant! I'm tired of people going "GAWD DAMMIT, YOU GAIZ R SO LAZY, PICK UP THE PACE!!!" First off, unless you have donated (I haven't yet, but I shall), you have literally NO RIGHT to boss around these amazingly sexy devs/mods/modders. Secondly, I'm tired of people feeling this false sense of entitlement. You're entitled to life, and a chance at happiness, that's it, and that's only in civilized countries, 75% of the world's population goes WITHOUT the amenities we have! I'll get off my soap box about "the poor people", "peasants" as the ultra-rich call poverty level and lower income homes/homeless people, but people need to stop being spoiled brats and get over themselves. Enough is enough.

**quick edit** Just because I'm going to donate doesn't mean I have the right to bitch and moan that they're not giving me a FREE GAME, a ZELDA game at that, fast enough.

  17. @Blinx

Sorry man, it's the same with me EVERYWHERE I go, so I know how that feels. Sometimes I take things the wrong way, and it pisses people off. I also get attacked a lot, ESPECIALLY on youtube, it's like all the (sorry for terminology if considered offensive) oldfags from 4chan moved into youtube and turned it into their playground to flame EVERY POST EVER MADE. Half the time, I'm afraid to say ANYTHING, which isn't good. I'm sorry I accused you of attacking, you're right, you did say that last time around, I guess I got lost in a weird state of mind. Also, my opinion of Star Fox Adventures is mildly askew. Last time I played it, I was 10, that was almost a decade ago, so yeah... I remember kinda liking it, but I remember not liking it when I replayed it later, so I dunno, maybe I'd like it with a more developed and aware/conscious mind. Sorry for being yet another guy who points the finger of bad-guy at you, I'm sure that gets frustrating and depressing, as I get it all the time.

    @Zeth

You're right, Zelda didn't copyright the adventure format, but from what I remember, it feels out of place, especially after having played all the other games, even the unreleased 2 with an English patch. Blinx is a good guy, I can tell solely BECAUSE he's blunt that he doesn't lie, and he's straight forward. I've chilled since I made that last post, so we're all good. I'll be more mellow about how I put my opinions, though I won't soften what exactly it is they mean.

Also, can I just kinda fanboy? I'M SO EXCITED FOR URA OHMIGAWDITSJUSTAGH ok I'm done for the day gaiz kthxbai.

  18. you seem to be stating your opinions as if they are fact.

I'm sorry, when did subjective opinion that is quite obvious become something everyone takes as fact? Why can't I say something without saying I'm a pretentious prick who thinks too highly of himself and presses his opinions on others? I just wanted someone to respond positively to something that I thought was a fun idea, not analyze everything I said, is that too much to ask for in a forum that calls itself a collective?

    *edit: DISREGARD THIS

  19. Okay, but I don't understand your frustration; there was literally nothing wrong with the direction that game took(even if it was not originally Star Fox).

To me, it looks like you're one of those people who complain about, basically, "OMG WOW DINOSAURS IN MY STAR FOX". Furthermore, judging by your post, it seems

as though you actually would have no problem with the game if it didn't have the Star Fox name slapped all over it. Do you see what's wrong with that? You're letting

a perfectly good game (and experience) get ruined for you over something so minuscule, and in the end, unimportant.

I don't like it for the same reason JonTron doesn't like Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. I'm not pissed that there's Dinosaurs, I'm pissed that rare tried turning Star Fox, a SPACE SHOOTER, into Zelda, an ACTION RPG. TOO BIG OF A JUMP OF GENRE. Yes, I'm aware that Rare bought the game from another dev, but I'm going to let what you see as Miniscule be what I see as a major fucking issue.

Anyways, on to the subject of voice acting/seriousness:

If I play a game where all characters are serious, 100% of time, it becomes a bit annoying, and unrealistic.

Star Fox: Assault had the perfect mix, for me at least. Characters were at times very serious, and other times they had their non-serious moments.

Over all I think they did perfectly in that department. And you know, it's the same even for Adventures.

Again, I haven't played Assault in awhile, so I can't really gauge if that was a great or just good Star Fox game. Also, I'm not saying for them to be like GEARS O WARE ALPHA TEAM TO CHARLIE POINT BRAVO TANGO DUE WEST EN ROUTE KILL THAT THING GO GO GO SHIT MAN DOWN BLEW HIS BRAINS OUT DEPRESSING SHIT MAN, no, I'm saying something more the point of just not being '90s cartoony. If I play Assault in the near future, I'll edit this post, or I'll forget, whatever comes first, but for the moment, I know what I want.

*edit: I watched a video with some of the voice acting, it was decent, 4/5 of what I was looking for, which is more than good enough.

I am very confused right here.

All I did was bring up the fact that a SFA successor would have to have some Arwing action in it, and I wasn't even commenting on anyone's spelling of the name...

I wasn't making a point with that, I was digressing from a joke.

On another note, why is it that I've only posted 2 things on this forum, and both times you've pretty much found it necessary to respond with what seems like an attack BOTH TIMES I've posted? It makes me feel unwelcome to a place that has a name that leads one to believe that all gamers are welcome.

  20. @ Colonel Blinx: I'm not saying that the voice acting's bad, but from what I remember, the voice acting has been very cartoony since they incorporated voice acting into the Star Fox games, I'm saying something more serious, y'know? Also, Adventure sucked ass, but Assault actually was quite enjoyable from what I remember. Haven't played it for a few years, so I don't remember much. I think Adventure would've been more acceptable if it wasn't Star Fox, as it was like taking the Zelda format and taking an already solid character in a completely different genre of gaming and going GO KILL STUFF WITH A STAFF INSTEAD OF FUCKIN YOUR ZAPPY GUNS ON YOUR SHIP KTHXBAI. Yes, I'm aware it's called an Arwing, the wording was done for effect. Now, not all games that do this are bad, Mario has a ton of spin-offs that were decent, but they were toys, not canon games. Adventure was meant to be a canon game, thus killing my nerd boner.

  21. I know I'm new here, so not many people may click on this, but show of hands, who wants to see a new Star Fox game? Not just any old Star Fox game, but a Star Fox game that's made FOR THE FANS, not for 10 year olds who never played a zelda game and went OHMIGAWD ISHAFAWX? Maybe give the voice-acting a more intense feeling to it, so when someone dies it's not like you're watching a B-horror movie? I dunno, maybe that last bit's just me, but I think that it would be nice to see a new Star Fox game with a twist.

*Edit: After a bit of thought, I judged Adventure too harshly being that it's been over 8 years since I last played it. That and I was 10 when I did. Anyway, that being said, please disregard the offensive opinion of Adventure.

Don't let this lead you to believe that I'll back out of my opinion as soon as someone complains/rages, I have conviction, but when it's something a bit less backed by how I KNOW I feel, then I'll rethink it, research more, and either revise or back what I say, as I did in this case, more rethinking, but you get the picture.

  22. I did read all your stuff, I just didn't properly word the opener after having read your stuff. (wrote then read, didn't amend) It was more meant to say that this is someone who prefers PC gaming but also accepts and thoroughly enjoys console gaming, I didn't mean the last bit after I read further into what you said. Also, I prefer when someone is firm, straight, and to the point, I can't stand when people beat around the bushes, so thumbs up to you good sir. :D

All because you didn't acknowledge them.

Price is not a concern when arguing that adapters exist, just the fact they do exist.

Price should be a concern, if the price is that impractical, then why would anyone who's used to PC gaming play a console game? Yes it exists, and I'd probably buy one if it wasn't so damn expensive because I do love me some Halo, but simply because it's nearly $100 just for an adapter that maps keystrokes and mouse movements to buttons and axes turns most gamers who would otherwise use it away. For that price, I'd rather learn how to program a keyboard to emulate buttons and axes than to buy it. However, you are right, it does exist, and that in and of itself does make what I wrote moot, but dammit, who the hell wants to spend nearly $100 just so they can play games THEIR WAY? I'll tell you who, no one. That's why there's no listings for it anywhere but the official website.

About the headshot bit: You should probably practice more. I've never had that problem with my controller(s) in any FPS game, not since I was new to the genre on consoles. Practice makes perfect. Or, you know, steady your finger and lower the sensitivity.

I've been playing console games since I can remember, and it's not that I "need to practice", it's that to me, FPS games feel more natural with a keyboard and mouse. I'm obviously not saying that's the case with all FPS players, it's just how I and many other people feel, though many people feel the opposite, which I accept and understand. There is no factual winner, it all comes down to preference. I could argue that keyboard and mouse is better because there's more buttons and the mouse is better, but you could argue that controller is better because of comfort and capability, both arguements are futile because both types are for different types of gaming for different kinds of gamers.

They're prettier, sure, but not always by a lot. (I am aware there ARE PC games that far exceed console games graphically, even to the point of looking like real-freaking life. but I am saying, not ALL PC games are like this)

These days, with current gen consoles falling behind, it's happening more and more that PC games do indeed FAR exceed the console counter-part. While you're right, it's not always the case, it's happening more and more often.

Good, cool. Mods are important to you. Not as much to me, and my argument was an opinionated one, so yeah.

But, hey, Hellspawn... you missed my point. Thank you. That just what I needed after I've only explained it a few times in this topic. :S

PC elitists make modding on PC a selling point, completely disregard console modding as if it does not even exist. It exists.

Their point is moot, 100%. You see my point now? I don't give two damns about the technical stuff, as it's not my argument.

You're right, I did miss your point. Modding isn't an advantage, but it's a personal preference, so modders tend to go toward PC more, though as you stated, there does exist a console modding community, a large one at that. You're also right that PC elitests making that argument as an advantage is indeed a moot argument, it's something where people blur the very fine line of preference to fact. As you stated, modding isn't for everyone.
