Yes, this mod is still in development. It's just I'm redesigning a lot of it, since I'm not happy with the level design in quite a few areas, and I want to make the aesthetics better in a few others.
-
Yeah, the Discord is doing pretty well at the moment. Definitely join it.

Unfortunately, this site has kind of died since the olden days. Seems the actual Zelda hackers moved off to the Zelda64 forums (which have now also mostly died out), and the rest just left to various other places on the internet. Sometimes you'll get an interesting post now and again, but for the most part... this site is a ghost town that seems like its on its last legs.

Thanks! Some of the future plans for this game will be extremely impressive when they're done.
-
Well, just tested a program that auto generates sprite graphics routines. Seems to work pretty well all things considered. Actually gave me a working graphics routine for a sprite based on Dumb Drum from the original Donkey Kong Country. That's impressive given said boss is about 64 x 88 pixels in size. Of course, said boss would need a custom collision detection routine and actual pattern, but hey, it's going to make setting up the graphics side much easier at least.

Not something I'm likely going to include in the actual game, but hey, I was bored enough to rip it:

World map update complete:
-
Yeah, Dropbox broke image embedding, and all those images are stored on my Dropbox account. Still, it's not a huge loss. They're all ridiculously outdated now, and most of the stuff in them doesn't even exist in the game any more. Don't worry too much about it.

Because at the moment, every time I go to this site I get sent a completely empty portal page and have to click 'community' to view the forum index. So given that it seems the portal has been removed, it may be best just to set the forum index as the main page instead. That's much more convenient for everyone.

No, not making that up. They've just posted a history type article about the URA Zelda Restoration Project and fan attempts to revive URA Zelda in general: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-03-05-reviving-ocarina-of-times-long-lost-ura-expansion A few quotes from people like Shadowfire too. And a look at the now also cancelled Project Beta Quest hack. So yeah, thoughts? Is it an accurate overview of the URA Zelda story? Or would you say it's yet another sensationised overview that gets things wrong?
-
Thanks for the compliments! Nice to see how many people here and at ROM Hacking.net like this game.
-
Thanks for the compliments! Also, if anyone's worried, don't be. I have absolutely no plans for cancelling this mod before it's completed. Seen a lot of great mods and fan games get cancelled recently, and this won't be one of them.
-
Damn, that sucks. Seems we're seeing quite a few big Zelda hacks ed development at the moment. Wonder what the chances will be that someone will actually finish one again?

Final GFX update:
-
Nope, still not dead:
-
Thanks! There will be some updates soon though, so don't worry too much about progress being slow.

Please note that after the Pokemon Prism issue, I will pointing out that this game will not shut down unless required to by a court. If Nintendo really thinks they can go after ROM hacking that much, then they can prove it to a judge. Or three given the appeals system. Either way, this game will be finished. No exceptions.

Based on your story comments, I'm getting the impression you didn't like URA Zelda's story very much when it was in development. Pretty sure that was gonna get pretty dark and edgy near the endgame. I remember a super epic final boss theme and lots of stuff about Zeth as an in game villain after all... Working on real hardware is an issue, though it wouldn't be the first example of a popular mod with that problem. Not sure if Brutal Mario would work on a real SNES with some of its broken music, and just about the entire Mario 64 ROM hacking scene has issues getting those hacks to work on hardware. Pretty sure Mario 64: Last Impact doesn't work on the actual N64. Patreon is a hotly contested issue, and one that's becoming very common with fan games and hacks now. Pokemon Uranium and AM2R used to have them, and I think Last Impact and Star Road still have Patreons for funding. But yeah, guess we'll have to wait and see what happens here. A few more big OoT hacks are definitely something we need to see.

Still not dead, though it's been pretty much on hiatus for a few months now. I do have some new pictures though!
-
Well, I'm not sure how many Zelda ROM hackers still visit this site any more, but I may as well post this none the less. Basically, an awesome ROM hack called Link's Awakening 64 hit the news recently, and I got an exclusive interview with the main developer of the game! Here's the link: https://gamingreinvented.com/interview/lets-interview-ty-anderson/ So yeah, it's definitely worth a read if you're interested in the game. Or heck, Ocarina of Time hacking in general. I also might be able to interview other people here, if anyone is interested. Would anyone on the GCN be interested in an interview about their project?
-
Well, I thought I wouldn't just leave updates on one site. So yeah, some updates:
-
I've been playing it a bit, though it doesn't really work in my town. Not enough Pokemon variety (or Pokestops/gyms in general). Oh, I'm also in Team Mystic, if anyone was wondering.
-
So, what is happening anyway? What major Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask ROM hacks are being worked on at the moment? Cause I've checked in at this site a few times, and I don't see anything happening on the modding front. Does the scene still exist for these games? Did people move to their own websites? Are any of the old ROM hack projects here still ongoing? What's going on in the world of Zelda ROM hacks recently?

So a ton of stuff went missing in this topic. Either way, demo download is here: https://gamingreinvented.com/forum/index.php?resources/marios-nightmare-quest-part-1-demo-1.15/ And the board for it on Fusion Gameworks is here: http://www.fusiongameworks.net/smf/index.php/board,58.0.html This topic is basically irrelevant now.

I've posted about this on quite a few related sites now, but I'm now interviewing fan game developers for my new Gaming Reinvented site (it's listed in the affiliates list here). The first two are with Feguelion (of the Mushroom Kingdom Fusion Revival reboot) and DJ Coco (of Paper Mario 3D Land fame), and can be seen here: https://gamingreinvented.com/interview/interview-with-ferguelion-the-mushroom-kingdom-fusion-dev-talks-game-development/ https://gamingreinvented.com/interview/an-interview-with-dj-coco-paper-mario-3d-land-and-super-mario-country-author So, thoughts? And for that matter, is anyone here interested in being interviewd? Okay, it's a shame the URA Zelda thing didn't work out, since that would have made for a perfect article in this style, but there are definitely some other big name Zelda hacks being made here, right? Because if you want a bit more publicity for your mod, we'd love to hold an interview about your project for our new website.
