  1. Dude, you picked this up FAST! I mean, it was sheer 8 hours ago that you said to me, "I want to learn 3D modeling". Bravo! If ever you need advice, you need but to ask. Keep it up mang!
  2. I don't think the bow would ever need to be replaced. It's adaptable. Look at Hawkeye (Avengers) for a modern-world excuse. Look at Serah Farron (FFXIII-2) for a futuristic excuse. The bow is basically Link's main secondary weapon. Sword, shield, bow, his three main tools.
  3. Three Pendants is making some great progress with john_smith_account on Zelda's Birthday 2. They have designed many new areas that need new tunes and you would surely be given quite a bit of freedom in composition. heavy1390 is working on his own project that has a lot of promise. While he wants only covers of ancestral tunes, from what I know they're really good picks from the franchise's history. I think you could have fun translating newer stuff into N64-era midis. It would certainly be rewarding for the community, to be able to hear the themes we've come to love since the Zelda 64 era made to sound like they originated from that time.
  4. @ Heavy — The Hero of Time may just as well have died in Hyrule. When playing through Twilight Princess, I noticed a peculiarity in the Hyrule Castle Graveyard. Here's the copied theory from Zelda Wiki (which I would like to add: I initially wrote on the page; it has since evolved to contain the Demise element as well as other information). One particular grave in the Hyrule Castle Graveyard lies under a tree. If Link inspects one of the larger tombstones nearby, it reads, "The cursed swordsman... sleeps before... the sacred tree." The "cursed swordsman" may very well be the Hero of Time due to the fact that he sleeps under a "sacred" tree (reminiscent of the Great Deku Tree). If this is the case, then the statement on the tombstone may slightly allude to the demise of The Hero of Time - that which was not a good one. The term "cursed" may refer to Demise's curse on Link that repeatedly reincarnates him again and again to rise up against the evil that threatens Hyrule. It may also refer to Link's curse of transforming into a wolf. This may further reveal the identity of the Hero's Spirit, who is assumed to be Link, the Hero of Time. It should be noted that this particular grave is covered with a stone that Link must destroy in order to step on a switch to open the gate that contains two owl statues so that he can further his quest in this area. If such a grave is tied to such an important aspect (the owl statues - which may or may not be reminiscent of Kaepora Gaebora) then this would further fortify the connection to Link from Ocarina of Time. It could also allude to the Stalfos nearby.
  5. If you were to design a Legend of Zelda game, what setting would your story take place in? Would it be Hyrule? If so, how would your Hyrule differ from every incarnation so far? Would it be another existing world, maybe Termina, Holodrum, Labrynna, Koholint Island, The Sky, the Ocean King's Realm, the Dark World? Or would you create a new world? As far as environments go, what is your ideal setting for Link to venture in? If you close your eyes and imagine Link running, where is it he's running, and towards what does he run? What is the symbolic crux of your Legend of Zelda?
  6. I've got DWG2 on 360, so damn. I bet 3 is even better. And I share your sentiments; Dynasty Warriors typically sucks, but when Gundam is slapped on, it rocks. Plus, the games are actually rather polished, with fantastic voice acting, character relationships, and high-quality Gundam models. I'd like to pick up 3 if it's not too expensive and just give it a go.
  7. I wish you the best in your endeavors. This is a smart move on your part; you're going to make great work. Peace mang.
  8. I wanted to say that but refrained from doing so, hoping you'd mention it at some point. Lo and behold! You're the king Zaneeba.
  9. Awesooooooome!!!!! I have no more words, this is as amazing as it is self-explanatory.
  10. You have the best voice Z. Keep making LPs, you are very entertaining. Can't wait to see you bring your mans technology and magic.
  11. There will be several. As I stare at this image, I begin to recognize how I'd like to change this region. It is now bedtime (nocturnal), so that will come later!
  12. It looks like a proper, healthy evolution of Sonic's versatile gameplay, instead of just GO FAST.
  13. Fantastic work Strati. How do you plan on texturing the overworld? Will you be creating textures reminiscent of, but evolved from A Link to the Past? Sounds like you don't just want to slap on Ocarina textures and call it a day. Let me know if you need help with texturing. I'd love to lend some help.
  14. OH, WORLD-craft. I read that as, "warcraft and [war]hammer". I am not familiar with Worldcraft or Hammer. Maybe I'll check 'em out someday! I'd say most of my video game world-building experience comes from Morrowind and Oblivion modding ca. 2004-2007, though I've toyed with many games' mapmaking capabilities; Farcry 2, Warcraft III, Starcraft II, and others I can't recall right now. In order to get that nice airbrush texture effect with OoT, you've gotta make multiple 'blending' textures, those that take components of adjacent textures, like where grass meets sand, or where snow begins to climb up rock. It's extra work, but you can get some really polished results with patience. The day Nintendo gives us a Zelda game with a world/dungeon building mode, they will win forever.
  15. I'm familiar with them, but not inspired by. My fictional origins are (and I will only list several): The Legend of Zelda Batman Star Wars Classic horror films (Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein, etc.) Blade Runner Spyro the Dragon (original three) The Neverhood/Skullmonkeys Bomberman 64/Hero And an array of older games, namely from the PSX/N64 era (my golden age of gaming).
  16. Fuckin' A. Good job Sega, you finally realized that attraction ≠good looks, but rather promising gameplay with return-to-roots flavor. On that note, this game is very attractive.
  17. Thanks folks! Your words mean a lot. The support I've received inspires me to continue working more than I could motivate myself. I'm thrilled that people enjoy my work. Stay tuned for much more!
  18. Aye, it's definitely supposed to be more swamp-like. I wrote that flooded Faron Woods tidbit because I'm considering this to be in Hyrule somewhere... just got to thinking about spiritual succeeding elements in the series, character and location alike. I actually think of Koholint Island more than anything. I've always liked swamps, but Termina's Southern Swamp is horrid. It's one of the most nauseating areas in a Zelda game, due primarily to the giant airbrushed colors. I'm going to really rock Rainwind Jungle, but right now — I need to finally get to sleep. Yep, officially hallucinating.
  19. Here is my newest effort. Once in-game, expect an endless thunderstorm to plague the forest. Trying out more naturalistic formations rather than the architectural (though you can expect to see some temple ruins later). I guess, to a small degree, this is a spiritual successor to the flooded Faron Woods from Skyward Sword? An afterthought if anything. I'm heavily inspired by the Flooded Forest from Monster Hunter 3. I more or less want to remake that as filtered through my imagination. While it is incredibly young and far from what I want, I'm really happy with how the tropical forest texture turned out. It's the only texture not made from editing pre-existing OoT files, and yet it seems to fit right in. I'll definitely use it more often. May 28, 2013 —Rainwind Jungle / Floodwoods (?)
  20. The PS3, despite its reveal, carried one reeeeeeeally big impetus: a potential Final Fantasy VII remake. Didn't even happen, but that's an example of why people were excited for it, among many other properties. Since Microsoft dropped the ball on their exclusives in favor of television (and television versions of exclusives, ehem... Halo), gamers almost unanimously gave up, seemingly over night as well! It's really awesome to see Microsoft bomb so hard with the public. I'm curious to see what E3 does for the system. They better keep with their intention so we can at least have the saving grace of consistence instead of seeing a retcon reveal catering towards gamers. Though I'm sure that's what we'll get. It's E3. This was the reveal, showing what Microsoft really cares about, and their conference at E3 will focus on games—and will undoubtedly win over quite a number of people. I've permanently signed off though. Fuck you Microsoft.
  21. They're already in deep shit that they really have no way out of. Anything at E3 would just maybe postpone their death a few months. Microsoft can afford to fail, which is probably why they took so many risks with this console. Also:
  22. Please be a new IP. Retro has handled Metroid and DK exceptionally well. It's time Nintendo allows them to do something new. However, considering the name of the company, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they're only allowed to work on older series. If Nintendo has acquired the Banjo-Kazooie license, Retro would be a perfect fit. In fact, I hope they're working on Banjo-Kazooie more than anything, but this reality is farfetched.
