Shadow Fire

Project Creator: Shadow Fire
Project Type: Fanfiction
Latest Release: October 1, 2010
Level of Completion: 100% | COMPLETE

Basic Information
The Prince of Evil is a fanfiction based on the Daughter of Evil/Servant of Evil song arc from VOCALOID characters Rin & Len Kagamine. However, there is a twist. Instead of Rin taking the role of the princess, and Len her servant, the roles are reversed. When Rin sacrifices herself in order for Len to keep living, Len finds himself on the run, and eventually comes across the young Haru Saito. A tumultuous future awaits Len as he struggles through life, and finds love in the most unexpected of places.

Please note: This story contains yaoi content. For those of you who don't know what yaoi is, it's love (including sexual stuff) between male characters. If this is not your cup of tea, I suggest you not download it.

Chapter Information
The Prince of Evil is broken up into 13 chapters, one of them a "half-chapter". All chapters, except for the afore-mentioned half-chapter are told in Len Kagamine's perspective.

1: A Fugitive Is Born
Len has witnessed his sister's death, the girl having switched places with him in order to protect him. As he flees his homeland, he finds himself in a forest. Having walked for hours, he is starting to weaken. Running out of energy, he notices a cottage nearby.

2: Enter Haru
Having made it near the cottage, Len notices a boy just a little older than him collecting firewood. The boy notices Len and realises the condition he's in. He quickly brings the blond inside to get him a meal and a place to rest. The boy introduces himself as Haru Saito. Haru's mother, Koto, is finishing dinner and welcomes Len into her home.

3: A Shocking Revelation
After dinner, Len reveals that his sister was killed because of something he did, although not in extensive detail. Afterwards, Haru shows Len to the guest room, where Len learns something that shocks him.

4: The Nightmare
Len's sleep is plagued by a nightmare, in which he is contacted by the spirits of the people he had died due to his orders. He then finds himself in his sister's place on the execution block. The nightmare ends soon after, and Len rushes into Haru's room from his fear.

5: A Message of Regret
Len awakens to find himself next to Haru in the other boy's bed. Remembering the events of the previous day, he is instantly consumed with sadness. When Haru takes Len to the nearby town of Shian, Len acts upon an old legend he shared with his sister when younger. His world is rocked however when he hears a shocking statement from one of Haru's friends, Gakupo Kamui.

6: I Am
Haru is less than impressed with his friend's news, and even gets a little angry at the lack of sensitivity that was shown. However, he forgives Gakupo's absentmindedness. Once the other boy leaves, Len is even more consumed with guilt, before finally admitting who he really is.

7: Confessions
Haru is horrified at Len's confession, and demands explanations, which Len gives. The blond is prepared to leave, but before he can, Haru and Koto, who had overheard, shock him with their kindness.

8: Real Emotions
A few months have passed since Len confessed his true identity, though he had quickly been forgiven. He and Haru are becoming increasingly close, and after an interesting dialogue, complete with a childish game of cat and mouse, the two realise something.

9: Consummation
With Len and Haru realising their feelings for one another, they find themselves unable to keep their hands off one another. Before long, they seal their love in the most passionate way possible.

10: Ghosts of the Past
The two boys awaken a while after their consummation by an amused Koto, who informs them that she is almost finished with dinner. When Len and Haru dress themselves, they proceed to the dining area. With dinner almost complete, there is a knock at the door. The visitor is a ghost from Len's past; Kaito Fuuga, the young man with whom Len had originally fallen in love with as the prince of Kiiro Kingdom. Kaito is in much the same condition as Len was the night he arrived, so Koto and Haru show their hospitality.

10.5: The Discovery
Told in Kaito's perspective.

Kaito shows his appreciation for the hospitality he is given, rewarding Koto with a grand sum of money. He learns that Len is an outsider with whom Haru shares a deep bond with. Giving his thanks again, Kaito leaves, returning home, only to realise just who Len really is. Upon his return home, Kaito informs his best friend, Meiko Sakine, and makes preparations to bring the Prince of Evil to justice.

11: Justice
Haru and Len are left home alone while Koto is out shopping for supplies. Before things can heat up, there is a knock at the door. Len goes to answer it and comes face to face with his past once again. He is prepared to accept penance for his crimes, but before he can be taken, Haru defiantly refuses to allow the boy he loves to be taken away, citing that heartbreak can make people act without thinking. After a tense stand-off, Kaito finally forgives the former prince.

12: Rebirth
Several years later, Haru is struck down from an illness. Soon after, Len begins to shut down, noting with a slight morbid amusment that a person really can die of a broken heart. He finds himself in a dark void, with nothing but a clockwork spring and an eeriy, damning voice for company. Len comes to terms with his actions, and is eventually given another chance. He is to be reborn, his vision going white. 14 years later, Len and his twin sister Rin move to a forest cottage. They meet their neighbour, a young boy called Haru. While not able to remember their past lives, Haru and Len find love with each other once again.

DOWNLOAD
The current version (Release 1) of The Prince of Evil is available for download.

The Prince of Evil is no longer considered an official project.

Feel free to discuss.
