Cheeks flaring red, Silver swallowed before reaching out and taking the offered hand. When on his feet, he stumbled forwards, managing to right himself... against Ethan's chest.

He feels so... soft...

Frozen in his thoughts, he found himself unable to move. Snappy raised an eyebrow and glanced away, giving as best a smile he could when he noticed Cynder.

Snappy shied his glance away, staring back at his master, who slowly pulled away from Ethan, and coughed into his hand.

"Uh..." he said, voice full of uncertainty. "G-good luck out there, Ethan."

Pulling on his icy visage, Silver gave a smirk.

"Yes..." he continued, finding a little more confidence, even though his heart was beating rapidly. "Get stronger, and I'll whip you when you're at your best. See you next time. Come, Snappy."

Snappy gave one last glance to Cynder, before following his trainer.

Ethan blinked then frowned, 'Not that again...' "I thought he was actually being nicer, guess it was my mistake." He sighed, shaking his head. Cynder frowned slightly and lowered his head, loneliness setting in. Ethan gently petted him, understanding in his eyes. "Don't worry, you'll see him again, promise." The fire starter nodded slowly and followed his trainer as they went off.

Silver walked a few steps, before coming to a stop. However, luckily for Ethan, Silver hadn't heard the raven-haired boy's comment. Instead, the cocky teen turned around and gave a slight smile.

"It may not mean much from me..." he began in a voice different to his usual. "...but, I hope to see you again very soon. Farewell."

Glancing at the other boy silently for a moment, Silver finally turned back away and made a run for Goldenrod City.

As Silver continued towards Goldenrod City, he frowned.

What the hell is wrong with me?

Gritting his teeth, the red-haired boy kept running, until his lungs felt like they were going to burst. Only then, did he slow down, his hands grasping his knees, panting heavily.

"Snappy..." he muttered. "I think I may be coming down with something."

The Feraligatr smirked his best at the boy.

Glancing to his starter, Silver gave a slight smile.

"C'mon..." he said, catching his breath. "We'll whip some butt, and then I will probably feel better."

The Feraligatr gave a chomp of agreement, and the two continued to Goldenrod City. However, as they got closer, they could hear excited voices.

"Did you hear? These guys rushed into the Radio Tower!"

"Yeah, I wonder what they're up to?"

"Who knows? Though, their ugly black uniforms make them all look like thugs, so it can't be anything good."

"I wonder what the red R on all their shirts stands for?"

Silver froze immediately, lips curling into a snarl.

"So..." he hissed. "They're in Goldenrod City too? Damn you... Team Rocket!"

Once again, Ethan broke into a run, stopping as some nearby Rocket Grunts began talking of their plans at Mahogany Town.

Damn! What the hell are they up to?

Silver glanced down at Snappy, teeth clenched fiercely.

"It's decided..." he hissed. "We're going to Mahogany Town. I'm going to find out what the hell they're up to... and put a spanner in the works. Snappy, return."

Holding the Feraligatr's Monster Ball up, the teen watched as his Pokemon nodded, before reverting to energy and returning to his capsule.

I will make them suffer... if it's the last thing I do.

Sending out a Pidgeot, the red-haired boy took hold of the bird Pokemon, his eyes still narrowed as the bird flapped its wings and flew into the sky, carefully so as not to let his master slip.

If I see you again... father...

Ethan slowly made his way up to the Lake of Rage where he had heard rumors about a rampaging red Gyarados. Maybe it was connected to the waves. It was raining harshly up by the large body of water and among the churning waves was the red pokemon herself. Gyarados roared angrily, continuing her pace around the lake. After recalling Cynder (since he didn't do well with water), Ethan brought out a Mantine. The pokemon allowed him to climb onto his back before they started to surf towards the pokemon. 'We gotta calm her down or she could destroy this place!' He thought worriedly. Gyarados stared at the two of them before roaring in a challenging manner.

OFF TOPIC:

Yes, I made Gyarados a girl. Deal with it.

While Ethan was at the Lake of Rage, Silver's Pidgeot was coming in for landing at Mahogany Town. Recalling the Pokemon, he glanced around town, before making a beeline towards a small store.

I've found their entrance...

Entering the store, he was approached by two men, who asked in a very suspicious manner if he intended to buy anything. A smirk came to his lips.

"Sure..." he murmured. "Although if my father finds out that you fools are trying to sell me something..."

The men both gasped, before taking steps away.

"W-what do you want?" the taller one asked. "...did you come to inspect?"

Along came another smirk.

"Yeah..." he muttered. "You could say that. Now let me inside."

The two immediately did as they were ordered, allowing Silver into the secret base. They made such a fuss about getting the entrance sealed again that they didn't notice the red-haired teen touch a small sticker to the wall beside the entrance. As the door closed behind him, his smirk faded, quickly replaced with a scowl.

Now to see what they're up to...

It surprisingly didn't take long to subdue the Gyarados. She was defeated and captured in record time. And it was easy, almost as if she wanted to be captured. Ethan stared at the ball before it vanished to the PC. 'Team Rocket...' He clenched his hand. 'I won't let you get away with this!' He and his pokemon surfed back to shore. Once on dry land, and after a quick dialogue with a mysterious trainer named Lance, he and his now released starter raced back to Mahogany Town, determined to find the source of all this chaos.

Silver continued to walk around, noticing strange Pokemon statues, their eyes gleaming suspiciously. The red-haired boy snorted.

"Cameras..." he scoffed. "Like I care."

Walking past the first statue, a small alarm sounded, before two Rocket Grunts raced out to investigate. Their expressions, smug, they changed quickly when they saw the teen smirk.

"Alright..." he snickered. "If it's a battle you want, it's a battle you get. I should warn you though, I'm not your average opponent."

The battle was quick, Silver becoming the victor with ease.

"Hmph..." he snorted after winning. "No wonder my father broke up the team. You can't battle to save your own life."

The Grunts' eyes widened. One of them took a step forward, clenching his hands into fists.

"W-what?!" he exclaimed. "You're... but, sir... if you had told us it was you, then..."

"Silence!" Silver snarled. "That's why you're so pathetic! Always needing your hands to be held by my father. It's easy to see why you were all defeated by some kid three years ago. You're all so weak! Get out of my way!"

The red-haired boy shoved past the grunts, who looked perplexed, before giving a sigh and rushing back to where they were beforehand, but not before using a small radio to let the other grunts know that they had an important guest, who was not to be messed with.

Meanwhile, the mysterious Lance was already back at Mahogany Town, staring around.

"The strange signal..." he murmured. "It seems to be coming from around this area. That store looks suspicious. I better go check it out."

Gripping a Monster Ball, he went into the store, his black cape flowing behind him.

As Ethan arrived, Lance was already inside. A Dragonite stood in front of him, looking fiercely at one of the two 'shop-owners'.

"Draco..." he said firmly. "Hyper Beam."

The Dragonite unleashed a Hyper Beam directly at the guy in front of him, knocking him into the wall. Lance then recalled the Dragonite and pushed the other guy aside, noticing the sticker that Silver had left.

"The secret entrance..." he muttered. "It's here."

Flicking a switch, he watched as a door opened, stairs leading downward. Casting a glance back at Ethan, the dragon trainer went down into the hideout.

Silver made his way through, eyes narrowed dangerously as members of Team Rocket avoided him.

Cowards... all of them. What the hell are they planning?

Lance motioned for him to come closer, and once the younger boy arrived, he glanced back at the guy behind him.

"I've got some information..." he said softly. "Thanks to this kind gentleman behind me, I was able to discover that in order to get into this big room here, you need a password. However, to get the password, you need to get it from their leader, who is also in a room that is protected by two passwords."

Lance suddenly frowned.

"Your Pokemon appear hurt..." he said solemnly. "Here, let me use some of my special medicine."

Eyes narrowing, Silver continued around, getting more and more agitated.

"How laughable..." he hissed. "This place is easy to navigate. Their traps are child's play. Father could have made this place more confusing in his sleep... and I'm better."

Rounding a corner, he bumped into someone.

Is there some law that says I have to bump into someone every day?

Looking up, Silver noticed a trainer in his early twenties, wearing all black, a dark cape included. The trainer helped him up, though Silver remained frozen for a moment.

It's Lance! He's not at the Indigo Plateau? I wonder...

Holding a Monster Ball out at the dragon trainer, he smirked.

"I challenge you!" he declared. "League Champion... Lance."
