The battle actually lasted a while, and Archer was showing himself to be quite competent. Still, he couldn't stand up to the younger trainer in the end, his last Pokemon finally going down. He was just about to say something when his phone rang.

"What?!" he hissed, when answering it. "Oh... you. I thought I... Wait... say that again? WHAT?! But he... Ergh... never mind. We've failed. You know what we have to do. Tell everyone else. Okay, I have to go."

Hanging up his phone, the executive clenched his free hand into a tight fist, before unclenching it.

"I owe you an apology..." he muttered. "It turns out, that the Pokemon in question... belonged to Giovanni's son. It seems, he really does resent us. A grunt downstairs confirmed that it was... Silver... who attacked him. Well, regardless, you've proven to be quite the thorn in our side. I have no choice but to disband Team Rocket here, much like Giovanni had to do three years ago. You won't see us again, you have my word. Goodbye, Ethan."

With those words, Archer threw a flash-bang down, and when the light faded, he was gone.

Back at Route 50, Silver and Snappy were training in the harsh, biting winds. Silver was pushing himself more than the water Pokemon, who was learning a few new moves.

"Hey, Snappy?" the trainer mumbled. "Do you think he will be here soon?"

The Feraligatr gave as best a chuckle he could.

You're oblivious...

Once his team was fully healed, Ethan headed out again, eager to get some actual training in before he went back to Mahogany Town. And what better place than route 50? It was one of those lesser known areas, because the weather could be so harsh so only tough trainers went out there.

The weather began to get harsher still, Silver's PokeGear registering a blizzard heading for them.

"Snappy!" the trainer yelled, his voice seeming a little faraway. "We'd better find shelter!"

The water Pokemon gave an affirmative growl. Both of them began rushing through the blizzard, heading back towards Route 49.

Noticing that Snappy was doing a bit roughly, Silver recalled him, glancing at the Monster Ball.

"Rest..." he said softly. "...my friend."

Silver kept the capsule in his hand as he rushed further. Noticing a cave nearby, he made a dash towards it, but his strength gave out. Vision fading, he dropped to his knees, slumping to the ground.

Ethan...

Ethan felt a chill go down his spine. 'I have a bad feeling...' He had finally made it to Route 50 where a blizzard seem to be whipping up. He was about to turn back, but something told him he needed to keep going so he did. And what he came across shocked and frightened him.

"Silver!"

The raven-haired teen rushed over to him and knelt down, flinching when he touched him. 'He's freezing!' Gently picking up the redhead bridal style, he spotted the cave where the trainer had obviously been trying to get to. He rushed towards it as fast as he could.

Luckily it was pretty close so he made it there before anything bad could happen. Panting softly, he sat against the cave wall and called out Cynder who provided heat and warmth for the two. Ethan glanced down at his...what was he to him now? His rival? His friend? His...love? He shook his head firmly, blushing. Forcing the blush down he murmured, "Geeze, what were you doing out there?"

The red-haired boy had Snappy's Monster Ball clenched tightly in his hands, although once in the cave, his grip weakened and the capsule rolled out of his hand.

"Nnnngh..." Silver groaned, eyes opening slightly. "E-Ethan...?"

Even through his cloudy vision, he could make out the boy's telltale hair and cap, the Typhlosion nearby, and the voice of concern. Shivering violently, he began to fade again.

"M...y... ...b...a...c...k...p...a...c...k..." he choked out, drowzily. "...s...l...e...e...p...i...n...g... ...b...a...g..."

Closing his eyes again, Silver drifted back into unconsciousness.

Ethan flinched in surprise then nodded to himself. 'Okay.' He took the redhead's bag and quickly pulled out the said object. Opening it like a blanket, he gently wrapped it around the other male and himself and hugged the other tightly. "You better be alright." He said softly, leaning up to gently kiss his forehead. "I won't forgive you if you aren't."

Silver warmed up a little, though his clothes were still soaked from the snow. Snappy released itself from its capsule, blinking down at his master. Seeing the wet clothes, his eyes narrowed. Reaching down, he used a claw to slash off the trainer's shirt and pants, leaving him clad in only boxers.

"Your turn... Don't make me undress you myself."

Snappy shot his glance over to Cynder. It hurt him to have to be so forceful when speaking, especially to the Typhlosion, but it was a race against time.

"He needs body heat to survive! I saw it on a lifestyle show that was playing on his gear... Otherwise... he..."

The massive Pokemon looked down, glancing at his master.

Cynder gave the pokemon version of a sigh, a cloud of smoke forming, before he went over to the water starter and lightly nuzzled him. "Relax, he's going to be fine. Ethan will take care of him."

Meanwhile, now ignoring the two starters as they conversed in their language, Ethan removed his own wet clothing, shivering slightly. Once again he pulled Silver to him and wrapped the sleeping bag around them before hugging him tightly.

Snappy looked up again. His eyes seemed to be moistening.

"But, he's my friend! ...the only one I've known... can you honestly say you wouldn't do the same thing if Ethan were...--"

The Feraligatr stopped, suddenly noticing that Ethan had done exactly as he'd asked. Though likely not understanding his words, it was still done.

"Thank you..."

Silver shivered again, still a little chilly, though he began to warm up.

"I never said I wouldn't do the same thing. But freaking out is not going to help." Cynder said flatly. He didn't like before so blunt, but it needed to be said. "He's not going to die. He will be fine, so calm down."

Ethan kept silent, but he hugged him a little tighter, "Please, be okay." He whispered softly.

Obviously, the fire mouse hadn't seen the events unfolding, so Snappy nudged him, before pointing to the two humans.

"...E...t...h...a...n..." the red-haired teen groaned softly, eyes still closed. "T...h...a...n...k... ...y...o...u..."

Silver managed to weakly move his arms so they haphazardly were draped around the other boy, before he lost out to darkness again.

The blizzard continued throughout the night, although it decided not to interrupt those inside the cave. The morning eventually came with the blizzard long having passed. Silver was the first to awaken, his mind seeming foggy. However, upon realising that he was clad only in boxers, and Ethan laying beside him with arms curled around him, he gave a soft sigh and settled back down.

You saved my life, Ethan...

Another feeling came to his chest, much like the one he felt in the Radio Tower. Still in Ethan's arms, he finally realised the truth.

I'm... in love...

Silver gave a slight smile, before laying back down, draping his arms around the other boy.

"Yeah..." he said softly. "I have you to thank for that. You saved me..."

The red-haired teen stared into Ethan's eyes. Before he knew it, his lips caught the younger male's.

I'm... in love with you... Ethan...
