As he made his way out of Route 50, the red-haired teen stopped, before glancing back. His heart seemed pained, and he felt his eyes moisten. Looking down at the ground, he shook his head, before continuing on.

"I have to let him be..." he said softly. "I can't force him to feel something... if he doesn't feel it. I just... have to accept it."

Snappy glanced down at his master, remaining silent.

Ignoring the tears that threatened to fall, Silver glanced up at his starter, giving a slight smile, holding out his Monster Ball.

"C'mon..." he said softly. "Get inside. We're going to visit my home land... Kanto. We'll see them again anyway. The Pokemon League is at Indigo Plateau. I'll have us there soon enough."

Snappy nodded, giving his own smile as he was recalled to his capsule. Silver gave a soft sigh, before calling out his Pidgeot.

"Let's go..." he said softly. "We have to go to Kanto."

The Pidgeot was surprised at the sudden, though not unwelcome mood change of his master. With a soft call, it allowed Silver to clamber onto its back, wings spreading wide as it took to the skies.

The red-haired trainer gave a soft sigh while he was being flown to Kanto. As he passed over Blackthorn City, he almost decided to take a detour, and await Ethan there, but decided against it. He needed time alone, in a place where people knew not to bother him. He gave a slight smile as he thought about the raven-haired trainer.

I hope he knows what to do with my gift...

The red-haired boy had managed to sneak something into Ethan's bag... a strange gold and silver coloured Monster Ball. Silver closed his eyes, just feeling the wind in his hair.

Ethan... meet me again... after you've finished with Clair... but before you faced her...

-FAST FORWARDING BECAUSE I CAN-

Ethan grumbled to himself as he left the Dragon's Den. Really, a battle and a test, what the hell was wrong with that woman? Shaking his head, he glanced at his badges and smiled a bit. He finally had all eight badges of Johto. Smiling a little more, he headed to the Pokemon Center to heal up his team. Once done with that and outside, he blinked in confusion when Cynder began nudging his bag. "What is it, boy?" He murmured, shifting his attention to his bag. He set it down and Cynder sniffed it curiously, poking it in curiosity. Tilting his head slightly, Ethan opened the bag and something shiny immediately caught his eye. He pulled it out and eyed it curiously, "Where did this come from?"

Silver was sitting inside a cafe in Viridian City, drinking a hot chocolate, and slowly eating an apple and cinnamon muffin.

"Delicious..." he said softly, closing his eyes. "...but Ethan tastes better..."

Giving a sigh, he opened his eyes in time to be staring back at a young trainer, wanting a battle.

"Sorry kid..." the red-haired boy muttered. "Not in the mood. Save yourself the grief anyway. You're still a bit inexperienced. You should find someone who can help shape you... strengthen the bond between you and your Pokemon... to make you a better... person..."

The youngster gave Silver's words a thought, before nodding silently and leaving.

Once in Ilex Forest, the duo made it to the shrine. As soon as they got there, the ball Ethan was holding started glowing. Ethan yelped as a light shot out from it, forming the shape of a pokemon he had never seen before. It opened it's large blue eyes and beamed at him, "Bii!" "What the heck?" Ethan murmured, bringing out his pokedex and glancing at it before looking back at the pokemon who was happily floating around him. "So you're Celebi..." "Bii!" Celebi nodded, smiling. That's when it caught sight of the shrine. It's eyes gained a glazed look as it floated towards it and began glowing. "Wh-what's happening?" Ethan wondered, confused and slightly nervous. Suddenly a bright light filled the air and when it disappeared, Ethan and the two pokemon were gone.

The red-haired boy's eyes opened slowly.

He's there...

Closing his eyes again, Silver remembered his past.

Silver was glaring at his father, tears brimming at his eyes.

"You told me... you were the number one in the world!" he exclaimed. "Are you gonna quit? What are you going to do now?"

Giovanni stared back at him, a strange expression on his face.

"One must acknowledge one's defeat before he can move on..." the former Team Rocket Leader said. "I will go solo... for now... so that one day I will form a stronger organisation!"

Once the light faded, Ethan looked around. 'Where are we...?' He jumped when his radio clicked on, mentioning a date that was three years back. His eyes went wide as it shut off again. 'Three years ago?! Impossible.' He flinched when Celebi tapped his shoulder. It gazed at him before pointing forward. Ethan looked forward and gasped softly. It was Silver!. Then it hit him, 'He...mentioned that we met three years ago...this must be it.'

Silver's teeth clenched tightly, tears still flowing.

"What aspect of you was number one?" he spat. "Gathering so many only to be defeated by a mere child!"

Giovanni frowned, almost a scowl.

"Putting together the potential of many is how you produce a huge power..." he explained. "That's what an organisation is... That's the strength of an organisation! I failed... to make the best use of my subordinates' potential...! But you shall witness one day the revival of me and my Team Rocket!"

Silver's eyes narrowed in pure rage, the red-haired boy rushing his father, grabbing the expensive coat Giovanni was wearing in his hands.

"I don't understand you!" he snarled. "You don't make any sense!"

Giovanni shook his head slowly, removing his son's hands from his coat.

"Silver..." he said, voice sharp. "One day, you will understand."

Giovanni left, and Silver broke down. The tears he was holding back dropped, and he was visibly shaking.

"I don't want to understand you!" he yelled. "I will never become someone like you. A coward when you're alone and acting like a tyrant when you're in front of other cowards! I will become strong! I will become a stronger man all by myself! ALL BY MYSELF!"

Shaking in rage, Silver stormed off, noticing the boy who was standing nearby. His eyes narrowed hatefully.

"What are you staring at?" he hissed, shoving the trainer aside roughly. "Get out of my face!"

Silver broke into a run, wanting to get as far away from the place as possible, faint sobs still being heard.

'Silver...' Ethan took a step forward, reaching out, but reluctantly stopped himself. He bowed his head and turned to Celebi, "Let's go..." Celebi nodded and they vanished once more. When the light faded, he found himself in some sort of cave, 'Oh great, now what?' He noticed the man in front of him and his eyes narrowed, 'It can't be!'

Realising someone else was present, Giovanni turned around, staring at Ethan. His eyes narrowed slightly.

"I don't know why you have come here..." he said. "Anyway, I have to warn you that this is not a place for kids like you. Although... you have a certain look."

Giovanni took a few steps closer, studying the raven-haired boy.

"Yes..." he continued. "It reminds me of the kid who stood in front of me three years ago... You have the same eyes... Anyway, I'm on my way to Goldenrod City to answer the call and join my team. Are you going to get in my way?"
