Pinkie Pie
A clash of art!
Pinkie Pie
I personally prefer Comic book style, I just feel that the artists put a lot more work into it than in manga style. Sure, there aren't as many varying styles, but the comic book style just seems to look better to me, it doesn't look too cartoony, or too cute, it's realistic and really brings out the true potential of bad-ass. (Note that I am talking about art styles here and not story, don't bring up story, art style only.)
LEepicPOULET
I prefer manga. It's what I grew up with and I like the different artsyles it has. Going from gritty and realistic to kiddy and cartoony.
Dude of Shadows
I personally prefer Manga as well. I just appeals to me more than western comics.
Okami Takahashi
Personally, I like manga more than western comics, doesn't mean I don't enjoy the latter though. But yeah, definitely like manga better. *cough*ROSARIO+VAMPIRE!*cough*
xdaniel
Another +1 for manga. I never got into western comics when I was a kid, which is probably the reason why I'm far less attached to them now. I respect them, I see the care that went into their art, and I did watch some cartoons based on comics/comic properties back in the day (Spider-Man: The Animated Series, I believe?) which in turn mirrored the art style of their comic predecessor, but my fondness is for manga-style art. Also, manga-style - in my opinion even some of the cuter stuff, depending on the setting (Madoka Magica anyone?) - also has the ability to evoke seriousness or "bad-ass-ness", but it all depends on the artist. There is some awesome stuff on Pixiv in that regard.
Forecast
I like both styles IMHO, nuff' said.
Gump
I like Western Style better. I don't know, maybe because I grew up with Batman and Spiderman, and only watched Pokemon during that time.
Xylaphone
the panel transitions in a lot of manga are more involving but western also has a certain simplicity to that is engaging too I dunno, I mostly collect iron man comics if any
SanguinettiMods
I like the manga art style better, but to be honest, I've never read a comic book or a manga in my life...
Xylaphone
anyone read Tekkon Kinkreet? It has a great mix of eastern and western styles, I haven't read it all the way through sadly
Arcaith
One thing I find frustrating about a lot of comics is artistic and narrative consistency. Retcons annoy the crap out of me. There's also a lot of deux ex incidents in both. I don't like asspulls of either kind.
