You are all hereby challenged to play CrackOut.CrackOut is an Arkanoid/Breakout clone created by Konami and released for the NES in 1986. Gameplay is similar to the original, but with a few changes. I have also provided a PDF form of the official instructions. CONTENTS The download pack will contain the following: [*]CrackOut [*]A copy of the rules and some info [*]PDF of the official instruction manual [*]A text file, titled after the game, for completion time/date to be recorded, along with any comments you wish to provide. If you need the emulator, click here. RULES There will be a few rules in place to allow for a fair go: [*]You must complete the game from start to finish. Once you are complete, you must record the time it took you to beat the game. [*]If you notice the KONAMI Man shooting down from the ceiling, DO NOT capture him. If avoiding him means sacrificing your superball, just allow the ball to be lost. This rule is added for your own sanity. [*]The clock must be initiated upon pressing START, stopping only once the credits are complete. [*]No save states are to be used. [*]You are not permitted to use passwords. Passwords are given upon loss of all chances, however, even upon earning a GAME OVER, time must keep ticking. You will still be able to select CONTINUE to retry from where you last were. [*]No game guides are permitted to be used, aside from the original instruction manuals which can be found online. Then again, guides are kinda pointless for a game like this. =P [*]Sound must be enabled, and playing clearly for you. For the best experience, the music and sounds are necessary. [*]External controllers are permitted, to make things easier (or harder, depending on your setup). [*]Do not post your times here. Instead, send me a PM with the provided text files, subject name being CrackOut Challenge. [*]In order to finish the game, you will need to enter a password, of which its letters can be found in the walls of certain levels. You will need to find them on your own, or make an educated guess. Or, I could just tell you that the password is... what we say on a certain day of December. The community challenge will have a deadline: 10:00PM on October 23, 2012 (Australian Eastern Standard Time). You can use an online timezone converter to find out when exactly that is in your timezone, or simply look at the provided countdown timer above.
