I just saw something amazing.

Well, no advertising is IMO better then the crap Nintendo is doing. Some annoying woman sitting in a diner drawing her pie and ranting about not being a gamer should NOT be a game-based system's advertising scheme. If people want a hand-held device for drawing and playing PUZZLES, they might as well get an IPad.

I have to agree with Blinx on this one. Even though it sounds like the advertisement you described was terrible, it reminds people about the 3DS. Considering consoles are such a prevalent thing (I would bet anything most people at least know that the 3DS exists already where ever this ad is showing), it does serve to remind people about it and that's so much better than nothing at all.

Do you seriously think that any non-gamer is going to buy a nintendo 3DS because it has a drawing program? Why would you waste money at all trying to portray a game-console as NOT a game-console, when there are far more vastly superior non-game-consoles out there? They might as well say "Hello, I'm Joe Shmoe, and I'm not a gamer. But with my 3DS, I have a very expensive door-stop!"

Even if the PS Vita is not advertising as much as the DS, at least it's advertising itself as what it is: A GAME-CONSOLE.

You have a valid point, but that's not what sakura was saying.

She was saying, that because the 3DS has advertising, people actually know that it exists.

The Vita, on the other hand? Well, because of its massive lack of advertising, hardly anyone knows it exists(at least compared to other consoles).

You cannot tell me that the lack of advertising is good for the Vita. That's just illogical.

The fact the Vita is one of Sony's worst-selling consoles to date is very troubling, and that's because of their lack of advertising, among other things(these things are not relevant to the topic, so I shall not bring them up).

Don't get me wrong, I love my Vita; it's the best portable system I've owned in the entirety of my life, I just feel Sony is doing a joke of a job handling it in the market. :(

Well, true enough. I, for one, wouldn't know what a PS Vita was if it walked up and kicked me in the ol' Tea-Bagger. I just think that the entire advertising regime of both parties is pretty awful. But I was giving more kudos to Sony for actually advertising the product for what it is, unlike Nintendo which is just confusing the market to sell more of their "non-gaming" platforms. Which will probably bite Nintendo in the ass later on.

Well, honestly, when the Vita's ads do play, they're pretty good, and are much better than that of the PS3's(the majority of those are major, "What the fuck?" ads, that make you wonder how it will sell the console). Though, the only two I know of, is one from months ago that played frequently enough, but for some reason, eventually stopped. No idea why.

Months later, the one I recently saw, was an Assassin's Creed III: Liberation(great game) ad, which did a good job of advertising both the game and the system.

It seemed to be playing pretty frequently after I first saw it, but it was really late at night, so I dunno how much it will play during the day(it better play a lot), but only time will tell.

Anyways, I worry for the Vita; it needs some serious backing from Sony, and they damn well better give it the backing it needs.

Ah well, that's too bad... is it possible Sony lacks the funds to advertise? I wonder if it has anything to do with Nintendo's Wii U and the fact that Sony faces a problem with competition for it?

Well, I would have to say that Playstation's advertisements certainly turned ME off from buying their games... mainly because of the lack of class with their ads, I expected less class with their games. The theme of the ad also suggested there would be games out of my tastes, and of course I'm more interested in the cheery-poppy games Nintendo has to offer more than anything.
