Let me just link to GoNintendo for an overview of everything they mentioned: http://www.gonintend...story&id=194711

...and I'll mention a few specific things:

  • More information about the new Smash Bros. at E3
  • A new 3D Mario game and the next Mario Kart are in development and to be playable at E3
  • Kirby's Epic Yarn's developers working on Yoshi game in yarn-style
  • Atlus is making a Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem crossover game
  • Zelda: Wind Waker is being remade in HD, to be released by this Fall
  • Xenoblade developers Monolith are making a new game that looks a lot like Xenoblade
SMT / Fire Emblem crossover:

Wind Waker HD:

Monolith's game; notice what might be a chat window at ca. 0:22 - multiplayer or MMO even?:

Nintendo's a business, so it's not that surprising that they go for the remakes that are sure to sell - or anything that's going to sell, not just remakes. Not saying that I like it, as I really would love to see a MM 3D (one reason for that being that I never even finished MM on the N64, unlike OoT) but that's the way it goes, I guess...

The whole thing about having to buy any VC titles that you already own for Wii, but want to play in Wii U mode (on the Gamepad, etc), again on the Wii U VC is also quite stupid. Granted, you get them for a discounted price of ~1.00 to ~1.50 $/€/whatever if you've transferred them from your Wii to Wii U, but it's still really dumb and reeks of wanting to make money. What about finally making VC a cross-platform service, where you have one account with a pool of games that you can play on 3DS, Wii U and anything else they can come up with?

Yeah, I had a WTF reaction to that, as well. Not to mention, they literally mentioned NOTHING about bringing good ol' N64 Virtual Console to the Wii U.

They mentioned how in the future they will bring GBA, and how the Wii didn't have it but the Wii U will, so that makes me think... is the Wii the ONLY Nintendo system that will have N64 VC, at all? Are they actually set on keeping it on the Wii only? Not even the fucking 3DS has it, and it would be perfect for it.

UGH.

EDIT:

One thing I also noticed is how their HD Wind Waker doesn't even look to be cel shaded? I mean, the character models look normally textured, just with the usual next-gen shaders thrown on. The water seems to still I have the look, though. I think at least.

I think the environments look great, but the characters... really don't, yeah. A bit too realistic lighting and shading or something? Whatever the case, they've lost some of the charm of the GCN version's, well, rendering.

Some people hated TP's overuse of bloom. But people will LOVE the abomination that is this game's bloom because it's Wind Waker. xP

Don't get me wrong here, I mean... it looks great, but as xdaniel said, the charm is gone. Major overkill on the bloom, too; it ruins it. :/

... I've never been more excited for a remake in my life.

A TP remake would have me feeling the same, but this is still nice.

If they toned down the bloom and brought the cel shading back, the charm will return. But meh, don't see them doing it. Shame.

Blinx you need to remember that they said they are waiting for their own Zelda game for the 3DS to be completed before they think of remaking MM for the 3DS.

I honestly don't care, since I am in pure disbelief we'll ever see MM remade in any official form. I hope Nintendo proves me wrong, though.

I personally like the new look, while I am sure its going to go through its changes, it seems more they are just undergoing testing environments with the Wii U's abilities and new engine for the game. Let's take a look, while the game looks great in HD, from what I can tell, its using higher resolution textures but on the same low poly model used in the gamecube(except Tetra, Link and the pot lady as they are obvious updated). This was probably WW's level imported for testing and will probably get a much more updated look and tweaked in the official. As Eiji Anouma stated, they were testing several different games to try to find a new feel for the new Zelda game they are making, hinting that this is more a gamecube port running under the new engine and hardware just for the test. So its expected to see elements not worked perfectly to flow with the world just yet.

After some big observations with Sakura, pointing out features, designs, landmarks in the characters, etc. We have come to the conclusion of what's happening in the pictures. What you see is nothing more then the Gamecube's model imported, same goes with the wind waker models. However apparently the new engine uses a better way to handle alpha textures(like grass), further observation of the models, we've also concluded that the textures are indeed higher resolution then those used in the gamecube one. When most artist make the textures, they do it a bigger resolution then the texture is scaled down to fit the game. There is no doubt they are the same textures, but higher resolution. So how everyone feels they are losing the "wind waker" effect really doesn't lose at all, its still the same wind waker game models and textures. The only difference is lighting, shadows and environment, as which I mentioned before about it will most likely be changed to fit the game properly. Now since there is confirmation about the models and textures, I'm almost positive, we are going to see updated ones to match the new HD resolutions. Further examining other Wii U games showcases much better render environments and models, we can only assume wind waker's HD version will receive that same treatment.

The Wind Waker effect/feeling/whatever anybody wants to call it seems pretty lost to me with the absence of cel shading.

Whether they add it in later or not, I don't know. All I know, is they actually showed an HD remake of Wind Waker without cel shading.

That's kind of a major WTF thing to me.

I don't understand what you mean by they took away the cel shading, its still the same models with the same cel shaded textures just in higher resolution. The only difference is the sky(which is probably just a default for the engine and not the final product) and lighting.
