As Link listened to the unfolding conversation, he could feel the heat from the pup against him, and the brush of fur against fur.

...what's with this feeling?

The wolf was brought out of his thoughts as the conversation he was eavesdropping on continued.

"...So..." the mayor said softly. "That shield is still in your house, right?"

Jaggle nodded, scratching the back of his head.

"Uh, yeah..." he mumbled. "It should be in our storage loft."

The mayor gave a slight sigh.

"Good!" he breathed. "Go grab it, quick as you can! Rusl got wounded pretty bad, so he can't go search for the kids. I'll take over for him."

"But Rusl had a sword, Mayor!" Jaggle objected. "And he STILL got hurt! If you're unarmed, you're done for!"

Giving an uneasy grin, Bo shook his head slightly.

"I'll be fine..." he assured. "The sword we were goin' to present to the royal family should still be at Rusl's house."

Eyes blinking, Jaggle stared over at Rusl's house.

"Oh yeah?" he asked. "All right, I understand, Mayor. I'll hurry up and get that shield. You just wait here..."

Just at that moment, a slight gust of wind happened to blow the grass down a little, causing Link to react by arching up. The two men stared at him wide-eyed.

"No good!" yelped Bo. "Run!"

The two men ran off, leaving Link feeling slightly upset. They were his friends and he couldn't even let them see him.

Midna soon appeared once more, seeming rather pleased.

"That's not a bad bit of information you heard, huh?" She glanced up, seeing a open window to the house. "Ugh, look at that open window, this village is full of idiots. "So... we should jump up from there... but from where?"

The pup frowned, as he leaned close, and softly nuzzled under the other's chin... he didn't like seeing him upset.

If wolves could blush, Link was sure his face would be tomato red by now.

...but why? Why does this cub incite such feeling?

Glancing at the other, Link gave the best smile he could give in his current form, before looking for a way to get into Jaggle's house. Unfortunately, he just happened to walk in full view of Hanch.

"Mon-MONSTER!" Hanch yelled at the sight of the wolf, "You've returned for more, haven't you?! My...My daughter... Return her! And TAKE THIS!"

He played on his special flute, as the village's hawk flew down onto his arm, as it headed right for the poor wolfie, causing them both to run after getting clawed at, as they were stopped by Sera's cat.

"Were you attacked by that hawk? You're no match for him. I am sorry, the person calling the hawk is my master's... husband. You could sneak up from behind and scare him, meow.

Midna soon appeared beside Link, a little grin on her face.

"C'mon, let's get up on the roof from here and scare that guy. Look at him, posing as if he's all important... wait til he sees us. Hee hee."

Midna helped Link onto the roof, while the pup wandered off to find a sword for the wolf to use... he would be useful, even without his strength with him.

The pup watched as they headed off to get revenge against Beth's dad for that, as he looked over in the direction of Rusl's house... he wanted to help somehow... if he got a sword for Midna, that would be helping the wolf, right? He scurried off in the direction of Rusl and his wife's house, hoping the sword that Link was going to be delivering to Hyrule was still there.

As he was helped up to the platform, Link would have smirked widely if possible. Creeping up behind Hanch, he suddenly gave a low growl.

"You're lucky I don't attack you for that..."

Of course, Hanch couldn't understand anything other than "growl, growl, snarl". It was enough to scare him away, the hawk flying away. As he watched with pride as Hanch fled, his eyes rested on the grass that grew right next to where he was standing. An idea coming into his mind, the wolf sat, beginning to howl in the tune that the hawk knew, beckoning it down. The hawk stared intently at Link.

"So...you're Link...right? Sorry about giving you so much trouble before. I'm not proud of it, but it's in my genes to obey anyone who blows a reed. How sad... Let me make up for that mess earlier by pointing out any wonderful items around here!"

Watching as the hawk flew away, the wolf's attention turned to the open window of Jaggle's house.

The pup scurried through the shadows, accidentally stepping on some rocks, causing one of the villagers, Rusl, to look over at the sound, though not seeing him.

"What was that sound?! The children could not have returned... could they?! I must go out and search one last time. You get inside the house. I have placed the sword that was to be our gift to Hyrule on the couch. If the mayor comes for it, please give it to him."

"But dear... your injuries...!" The woman said softly to Rusl.

He snuck over quietly, and dug under the soft dirt that would lead inside of the house, as he slipped inside, shaking the dirt off his fur, before he stepped carefully through the house he had gone through under better circumstances, and carefully brought the strap under his front leg, so it was secure on his back, as he seemed proud of himself... with the shield and the sword, the wolf that had been taking care of him since he was turned into a pup would be able to stop this threat.

He slipped back out, sneaking around the back to take the weapon to the wolf and this 'Midna'.

Link had gone into Jaggle's house, managing to find the shield that Bo and Jaggle had been talking about. He fought back a wolfy snicker when hearing Midna commenting on how cheap it looked.

Oh, yes... because we really have a lot of material to make metallic shields...

Shaking his head for a moment, the wolf snuck back out of the house, landing in the water outside.

"Why am I always getting wet?"

Midna slipped into view, seeming kinda amused at the treatment the two little wolves were giving each other... just like brothers... or a word that suspiciously rhymed with that.

"Alright, the little pup got you a sword. Looks like you two can be useful when you concentrate. Alright, no more detours... I'm going to take you back into the twilight. Go back to the woods where you were first transformed into that shape!"

And with that, she disappeared back into the shadows. The pup lightly nudged the taller wolf, gesturing him to lead the way.

Staring down at the smaller wolf, Link gave as best a smile he could, before scampering back towards the wall of twilight. As he ran past the Ordona Spring, he stopped suddenly as a voice called out to him.

"Wait... Come to... my spring."

Realising that he was being spoken to by the spirit of light, Ordona, the wolf made a detour.

"You have... been transformed... by the power... of shadow. Come... to me."

As Link approached, pillars came down, trapping Link and Diggs in a forcefield.

"Beware... A shadow being... It approaches..."

The voice of the light spirit was right, as a strange twilight creature dropped down from a portal that appeared in the sky, before standing up and staring ominously at the wolves.

The pup began to growl dangerously at this creature... he didn't like it's scent. He raced at the creature and clamped his fangs into it's arm, causing a cry of anguish to escape from it.

The next moments seemed to go by slowly, Link watching as the pup lunged at the creature. The creature was stunned, before its hand assumed an attack posture. Instantly, for reasons beyond his comprehension, Link snarled in rage, before letting out a deafening bark.

RAWRF!!!

The creature stopped, staring at the bigger wolf, who suddenly surged forward, leaping onto it and knocking it over. With a savage growl, he sunk his fangs into the creature's throat.

Link tensed up immediately, watching as a golden orb rose from the water, an Ordon Goat forming around the orb. The goat glanced at the two wolves, before speaking in a mysterious, echoing voice.

"O brave youths... I am one of four light spirits that protect Hyrule at the behest of the gods. I am Ordona. The black beast you slayed was a shadow being. It had come to seize the power of light I wield."

Link stared at Ordona in awe. The light spirit continued with its monologue.

"My brethren in Hyrule have already had their light stolen by these fell beasts. The entire kingdom has been reduced to a netherworld ruled by the cursed powers of darkness. The blight will not stop with Hyrule. Before long, the entire world of light will fall into the hands of the king who rules the twilight. To save this land from the king of twilight, the lost light must be recovered. The three light spirits who have lost their light must be revived. There is but two who can revive them and redeem this land... The two of you. You still have not discovered your true power... Those transformed by twilight usually cannot recover their original forms... Unless... If you were to return Faron Woods where you were first brought into the twilight... If you were to revive the light spirit... There, by the power of the light spirit, you may find the means to regain your other state of being..."

Ordona slowly began to dissipate, before the spring returned to its normal state.

"Having the light spirit's light stolen... that could be why the Twilight hasn't reached this far..."

The pup then nodded, and scurried over to the shore of the spring, giving a little bark in the taller's direction.

"We can enter the veil without changing into spirits, right? Then it's up to us to set things right. Don't worry, I'll help you as much as I can."

With that, the pup hurried off towards the bridge, wanting to do whatever he could to help the other wolf.

The two headed across the bridge to the wall that separated the normal side of Faron Woods, and the side that was shrouded in Twilight. Midna soon appeared once more, looking down at the two wolves.

"Hey... look... The Faron Woods that you know so well... They're now covered in twilight. You might not be able to come back but... Do you still want to go?"
