Glancing around warily, Link clung to the older boy, not wanting to risk either of them getting flung into the ravine due to the fierce winds.

"Wow..." he mumbled. "Nice view..."

Giving a blink as the monkey fearlessly scampered towards the bridge, he chuckled, his expression changing to panic when he saw a big baboon on the other side of the bridge. It was holding a strange boomerang, which glowed darkly, throwing it at the bridge supports, snapping them. The bridge falling, Link cursed to himself. This would make things more difficult, especially if he needed to get across. The baboon taunted the two boys and the monkey, which had managed to begin climbing back up the bridge, before disappearing back into the temple on the other side.

Out of the shadows around Diggs and Link appeared Midna, who seemed both confused and peeved.

"Oh! What is going on?! Has there been a monkey fight?!"

Her eyes drifted over to the broken bridge, seeming a bit disappointed.

"Oh no! Now we can't go any farther. We might as well head back. I don't know what is going on, but it seems she wants to take you somewhere, so maybe you should just follow her."

Diggs was staring at the door where the weird baboon had run off into, as he looked over at Link.

"Um... would you be okay helping her finding the other monkeys? I think I can get across."

Diggs murred, holding the other gently, as they kissed softly, ignoring the bored groan coming from the Twilight Imp.

"I'll be okay, Link... I'll see you at the top." He offered a teasing wink, as he slowly released the other's hand as he headed back inside the lower part of the temple.

As Link returned inside the temple, he stopped after taking a few steps away from the door.

"Midna..." he said softly. "Please... watch over him for me. If I lost him, even with the power of the gods that I apparently am endowed with, I wouldn't be able to go on. He means everything to me. Can you do this for me?"

Midna tapped her chin while following him in the temple, still stuck in her shadow form since they weren't in the Twilight.

"I guess I could do that for you. You two are helping me get something I need in all this craziness. Try not to get hurt without me, wolf boy."

With a flash of a smile, she quickly disappeared into the shadows and with that, Link didn't hear from her.

Diggs had his legs wrapped tightly around the rope that once helped support the bridge that used to be there... thanks a lot, Ook.

He had his eyes focused on the door that was above... he would not look down.

Don't get him wrong, he wasn't afraid of heights... he was afraid of falling and meeting the ground below because of the height.

He finally had ground under his head as he gripped the rope, and released his legs, and swung over, and landed on the ground, only for him to stumble and he fell over onto his ass.

"...That could have been more graceful..." He grumbled, as he stood up, brushing the dust off his arms.

He began to walk towards the door that the baboon ran into... if he took care of him before Link returned, then it would be simpler for them to find this item that Midna was looking for without too much distraction. As he was reaching for the door...

"What in the world are you doing?!"

"Ah!" Diggs jumped back, holding his heart.

"You don't know what will happen if you go in there by yourself, are you trying to get yourself killed?"

The male's ears lowered, "N... No, it's not like that... I just..."

"You just what? Is fighting this monkey alone supposed to prove your power or something? Your so strong you think you don't need help?" Midna was picking at him, trying to get an answer out of him. "You men are all the same."

"I'm not trying to prove my strength! I'm making up for my mistake!"

Midna blinked, before her face became serious. "What mistake?"

Diggs clenched his fist tightly, "I screwed up... Link trusted me to protect Ordon... I let the kids get captured by those things and dragged into the Twilight to suffer fates as Spirits... if I can stop this thing while Link takes care of the monkey, then my sin will finally be atoned."

Midna watched his carefully... his feelings were genuine... he was a bit stupid, but he had a good heart, and the strength to back up his words. How corny.

"Very well. I shall assist you."

He nodded as a way to say thank you, as she disappeared, as he pushed the door open, watching as it slid to the side, as he stepped inside.

Link couldn't focus properly as he rushed through the temple. In the few minutes Diggs was gone, he'd sprained a few muscles, been attacked by strange creatures hidden under floor tiles, been almost eaten by a strange plant, and scratched with rocks from an exploding boulder. As he dragged his worn out body through the temple, he glanced down at his tunic pocket, fighting back a smile as Ooccoo poked her head out, glancing around. His mind returned to his...

What would best describe the bond that Diggs and I have? Am I his friend, lover, or am I...

"His soulmate..." Link decided aloud. "I like the sound of that. Diggs... is my soulmate..."

A slight smile came to his lips as he continued through the temple, before grimacing as he took more damage from a Bokoblin.

Just not my day today...

Diggs had made it into the room, only for a wooden spiked gate to lash out and sealing the way out, as he clutched his short sword up near his face, his eyes focused on the baboon, who looked almost possessed, as it lifted its boomerange, still glowing with dark energy and threw it, sending two Deku Babas onto the ground.

He narrowed his eyes... he raced forward, and slashed the two man eating plants in half, before flipping his sword, returning his attention to Ook, who looked ready to throw his boomerang at him once more. He managed to duck out of the way before it hit him, as he slammed his foot into the pillar, leaving him unable to catch it as it hit the creature in the face, knocking him to the ground.

He hurried over and got in a good couple of hits, feeling kinda bad as it clutched its butt in pain, before jumping back onto the pillar, reclaiming the boomerang in his hand before throwing it at the chestnut haired male again, though this time it hit.

Diggs skid across the ground, having blood on his lip. That cetainly didn't feel good. He spit the blood out of his mouth, before he raced over, and slammed the pillar so hard that it broke in half, knocking Ook over once more, causing the boomerang to go flying out of reach. He grabbed his sword and stabbed... something. His eyebrow rose since it sounded like he cracked an exoskeleton of some sort.

Ook howled in pain, clutching it's red bottom, before it crashed hard into another of the pillars, before hitting the ground, as a half dead spider went flying into the short grass below, as he watched it curl up into a sort of fetal position, before disappearing in a puff of black smoke.

The said baboon seemed confused as it found itself in a part of the temple he wasn't in the last he remembered.

"What happened here...?" Diggs heard it mumble in confused.

It seemed to freeze, realizing it wasn't alone, as it looked over its shoulder to see Diggs was standing right there, having a sword in his hand.

"Ah! A human! Don't hurt me!"

A sweat drop appeared above his head as Ook jumped from platform to platform til it leapt through a opening that was above.

"...He had a spider possessing him? No wonder he was so pissed off..."

Diggs went over, and found the boomerang the baboon had been holding before, and picked it up... it wasn't glowing anymore, but it wasn't seeming to respond to him. Could it be he couldn't awaken its powers? He frowned, as he looked over at the gate that had sealed him inside this room. He attatched the boomerang to his belt, and went over. He had strength that Link always envied over, and he was only proud of cause of the said blonde. He could get the gate up enough for Link to get through... right? He grabbed the gate, giving a squeeze, before attempting to lift it upwards.

"Diggs, don't do that, a Goron can only manage to push that up, you're only human! Don't be stupid..."

"I'm... not only human... I can do this... I have to...!" He hissed out.

A rumble was heard, as the the spikes were being lifted out of the grass, though the sharp parts of the gate were causing blood to drip from his hands, as he managed to lift it at least halfway up. He finally felt that was enough, as he released his grip, as he moved backwards, obviously seeming tired.

"There... I did it... Link..."

Feeling a bit drained, his eyes closed as he fell onto the grass, his arms spread out, feeling he didn't wanna move for the moment, as he drifted into darkness.

"...Ooo... wolf boy is not gonna like this..."

Time passed, and Link had about 4 monkeys racing to take him back to where the bridge was. By now, he had a feeling of what they were planning. Sure enough, once back at where the broken bridge was, the monkeys climbed up to the top support, which still stood strong, before making a linked trapeze. The blond gave a gulp, glancing down at the ravine below. It was a long way down. Were he to fall, he knew he'd have no chance.

"...okay..." he muttered. "I guess I've no choice. Here... we... go!"

Running towards the monkeys, Link leapt off the ground, launching himself forward. Hands stretched out, he managed to catch the hands of the bottom monkey. Swung forward, he let go at the apex, inertia pushing him forward. Making it to the other side, he rolled as he landed. Turning back, he gave the monkeys a wave of thanks, smiling as they swung themselves back to the other side. Turning around, Link glanced at the doorway, before slowly pulling it open. He grumbled as he saw the wooden spike-bars down more than halfway, having fallen a little after being pulled upwards. He quickly noticed something dark and moist on the wood, gasping as it dripped to the ground, its red colour staining the grass. Glancing into the room, he noticed his soulmate, unconscious, and blood pooling around his hands.

Diggs! No...

Sharp bars or not, Link had to get inside. Without any regard for himself, he dropped to the ground and forced his way under, earning several lacerations across his abdomen. Ignoring the pain, he finally made his way over to the older boy, kneeling down beside him and cradling the other in his arms.

"Please..." he whimpered. "Be okay..."

Midna finally appeared, as her shadowy form hovered beside Link.

"I tried to get him to stop, I could have at least warped you to the other side so you could have awakened the boomerang he won for you, but he didn't listen to me. I stopped the bleeding, but it's all I could do in this state."

Diggs was cradled close in Link's arms, seeming to shiver a little, as if having a nightmare at the moment.

The blond gave a sad smile, nodding at Midna's words.

"It's just like him..." he said softly. "Doesn't want to trouble anyone. I don't mind though. As long as he's alright, it's all that matters. If it's alright, I'd rather wait for him to get better before I continue. I know you want this power hidden within the temple, but..."

Glancing down at the brunet, Link tenderly brushed a hand over the older boy's cheek.

"Diggs is..." he continued. "...my main priority."

Link leaned down, letting his lips brush against the unconscious boy's for a moment.

Midna seemed to sigh, folding her arms and turning her head, but glanced over at this young couple...

a person of the light wouldn't have had so much trouble awakening the Gale Boomerang, and yet Diggs...

was he not part of this world completely...?

-----

The blue-green eyes that belonged to the boy was wide as he was standing there, in his body as a seven year old, his face stained with blood as he was facing his mother one last time while she was alive.

"I love you, ----..."

This part of his memories always made him sad... he couldn't even hear his mother say his name... he didn't even remember if Diggs was his actual name or something he made up after wandering around so long without a home.

He watched her brown eyes fall closed as she drew her last breath... she was gone now. Now only the Goddess could keep her safe. The familiar evil snickering was soon heard as he looked over at the thief who had just ended his mama's life... she had done nothing wrong... no sin in her past to deserve such a horrible ending to her life...

"Alright, little freak, unless you wanna end up like your mother, be a good boy, and hand over whatever food you have."

Freak? He was calling him a freak? Everyone that looked at him and his mother would whisper and say horrible things as they couldn't hear them. His mother would only smile at him and tell him the same thing.

"Don't pay them any mind, my love. When we get back home, those mortals won't call you things like that..."

His eyes soon narrowed on the thief... he was a closed minded mortal like mother said... and he had taken her from him. He raced towards him, his mind seeming to faze out the fear of death... this man's life couldn't go on for the sin he had committed.

"Wh-What the fu--- GACK!"

The man could say no more of his curse as he found a hand going through his chest, blood pooling down his back and down the arm of the child who had just punctured his body. The knife in his hand soon dropped uselessly to the ground, as the little one pulled his arm out of the man's body, and backed away, as he watched him fall to the ground, almost in the same fashion that his mother did, as he heard the thief coughing, as blood dripped down his jaw.

"Y-You little... how the hell can you do something like t-that..."

The boy said nothing... he wasn't even sure of it himself.

"You really are a freak... you... Goron-halfing...!"

Soon, this man said no more as he fell to the ground, dying in his own pool of blood...

Tears were visible in his eyes... he wasn't sorry he killed this man...

His sin would be given judgment in hell.

He was alone... he had no one.

"That's right, this man deserved this punishment..."

The little one shivered, as he turned around, finding a shadowed figure standing behind him, though a strange golden glow was coming from his hand.

"Pay this world no heed, child... you don't belong here... your mother was trying to bring you home... bring you to me..."

He reached his hand out for the young one, though his presence seemed to frighten the little one.

"Come here... prince of light and darkness..."

Diggs tried to run as the larger's hand was reaching out to grab him, before a bright light shined down on them, stopping them both in their tracks, but a familiar voice seemed to call for the boy.

"Diggs..."

He glanced up, making out someone reaching for him... Diggs... was that his name? Could he trust this person...? He reached his hand out, ignoring the enraged yell in his ears, as he gripped the light enshrouded hand, before it all faded out into whiteness...

His eyes snapped open, as he felt his hand through the torn up cloth of his glove gripping against something. He glanced up, finding a familiar face... silky blond hair... deep blue eyes... familiar green tunic...

"Link..."

Link hissed in slight pain, but shook his head.

"I'm okay..." he assured the older male. "This isn't what hurt the most."

Placing a hand on Diggs' shoulder, the blond stared into his eyes.

"Being apart from you..." he said softly. "No matter the length of time... just hurts too much for me to handle. I ended up getting injured so many times while parted from you, because you're all I could think about. Why do you think I had Midna follow you? You're my world, Diggs. My very reason for existence... and I love you."

Diggs blushed a little bit, before offering a little smile, before reaching into his bag.

"I love you too, Link... and as such you're going to let me treat your wounds before we continue through this temple."

He pulled out his first aid kid, and began to dip a clean cloth in disinfective.

Diggs snickered a little, as he was wrapping the wounds around the other's waist.

"The cuts weren't too bad so they should heal up in no time. Just try not to overdo it too much, okay?"

A exclaimation point seemed to appear over his head, as he reached back and grabbed the boomerang, and offered it to Link.

"Here, for you. I couldn't get it to work, but I bet it will work for you."

Blush fading slightly, Link took the boomerang, which suddenly began to glow white. A strange voice seemed to come from it.

"I am the Fairy of Winds who resides in this boomerang. I have been freed from evil, and I now have my true power back. Please... Take it with you, use it to aid your quest, and may both my power and my blessing go with you. If you focus power in your boomerang before releasing it, it will unleash the power of wind, aiding you in unforeseen ways."

The blond blinked a few times.

Okay... A boomerang is talking to me...

"You should be able to get the door open by usin those fans that are up there, Link. I think that is called the Gale Boomerang, which uses the wind element."

He slipped on a new pair of gloves since the ones he was wearing before was stained red and he didn't need the friendly reminder that he had hurt himself while trying to open the said gate.

Using the power of the boomerang, Link did just as Diggs said, aiming for the fan. The wind made it spin greatly, causing the gates to rumble and rise up a bit more. Another throw of the boomerang allowed the gate to finally raise itself completely.

"Well?" he said suddenly. "Shall we go?"
