Why is Xenoblade Chronicles so expensive?

Does anyone know why the game series Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii got so expensive? Its still fairly new and people are putting really ridiculously high prices on Amazon, ebay, etc for sealed games. And it's really hard for me to find a new copy at stores like Gamestop, Walmart, etc. The worst part is THEY NEVER HAVE A SINGLE COPY! I've heard this game is really good and I've been wanting to play it. So why did the game became so freaking expensive? I know the game is popular but why did the game became so over priced? It's ridiculous. Can someone explain why it became so over priced? Its driving me insane looking at these prices. Thanks.

It might've had a low print run or something, which would explain prices for both new and used copies skyrocketing. Comparing Amazon.de and Amazon.com, a new PAL copy is ca. 30 USD cheaper than a used NTSC one, so you could try to get the European version somehow, if you have a way of importing from Europe (as Amazon itself doesn't ship internationally, IIRC) and playing PAL games, that is.

Still its kinda ridiculous seeing these kinds of games being over priced. I can understand the sealed print part. But it makes me wonder if these types of "Collectors" ever play the game. I don't see a point on buying a game and not playing it. Kinda irritates me and it isn't fair for other gamers. If you know what I mean. :P

Xenoblade is a ridiculously good game. If you've ever played Rogue Galaxy (Which I'm sure most if not none of the people here have) it's like that, but even better. The music is amazing, the world is huge, apparently, just walking from the first town, to the end of game area (possible after game completion) without going to any of the side towns, or anything like that and only following the path, takes around an hour and a half with no encounters, and it's almost completely seamless. But that has nothing to do with the price, I know. People were freaking out because the company was never going to release it. Then they were freaking out because they refused to release the sequel to the US, now that's been (kinda) announced, and so people are back on the "Play this before the sequel comes out" bandwagon, and selling it for top dollar. It's one of those games like Paper Mario 64 or Tales of Symphonia that no one in their right mind would sell. Unless they picked up two copies normal price at launch, knowing it would be worth more in the future. Soooo yeah. There were a lot more released in EU than US. Which is rare. But I mean, every Voice Actor in the game is insanely British :P

Haha I see your point. But I would love to play this game, I've heard good reviews about it and its really great. Its sad that Retro Stores and Game stores don't even have used copies. So its hard trying to find a decent copy that isn't over priced. Unless I get really lucky but I don't feel like spending over 100-300 USD for a game.

*raises hand* I'm one of those who collects the rare ones and never plays 'em.

My pride and joy of my collection is my NFR Majora's Mask cartridge. Gold version though...grey version is too expensive for my blood.

I have probably over 20+ games I've not actually played, and just get them because 1) They're cheap 2) I might play them one day. I'm really into getting the games that range from 5-10 dollars, because you can find some nice gems, or get some real crap. I do LP's though as well as stream, so I'm always doing one video on a game just to show it off. And then I never play it again. I suppose I'm weird that way.

You see... though I normally don't condone pirating games that deserve the sales, I had to pirate Xenoblade. It's really fun. But it's too expensive. And plus, I can't FIND a new copy anywhere. And if I buy it used, they're not getting my money anyways. But if I ever DO find a copy (If they reprint of something) I'll buy it.
