I never understood why people called Navi annoying, its not like she "spoke" that often. At the very least, it seems odd that those who complain about Navi dont do so for Tatl as well, considering they tried getting your attention at the same rate.

Fi... well, I think I know my hearts are low from the meter in the corner, from the beeping and from Link's panting. I dont need another reminder. I also prefer finding things on my own, so forcing the dousing mechanic doesn't earn points. I can forgive that one as more of a poor gameplay mechanic, but I can't ignore her captain obvious tendencies.

I prefer partners who take a more hands-off approach, so I have to say Navi.

There's a stack of batteries in our game room that lovingly have the name of "Fi Batteries". It's that point where she starts beeping that your batteries are low for the Wii Remote, but there's still a lot of juice left in them. So we use them for other games or devices around the house.

Fi also solves puzzles for you before you get a chance, which really sucks. I recognize her potential as a character...but they could have done a lot better. And the constant % speak really got annoying.

Gonna have to go with Navi, if only for the fact she didn't pop up without you calling her and telling you how to solve a puzzle in a room before you get a chance to.

Fi is more like a computer, all ways giving you %'s of what this and that is, not to mention she calls you master where ever you go. Its like she has no will of her own. But you know what, she beats having to listen to "HAY" every 5min. So Fi it is.

Fi. I probably stand alone on this, but I was not once annoyed by Fi. I personally thought she was a great character altogether. She was synthetic, but that was part of her character. She never quite came out of that, but her character did change.

I think we saw this during the end of the game. The scene where she pretty much died and bound herself to the sword permanently was depressing... and of course, her final goodbyes.

Navi, though... nothing redeeming. At all. I felt nothing when she left.

I am definitely part of Team Navi. While "Hey! Listen! Look! Watch out!" got old fast, I still think that she had good character. Primarily a guide, she evolves to become Link's friend.Plus, her departure was directly responsible for Link's adventures in Termina, resulting in one of the best Zelda games ever, which Nintendo seriously need to remake for the 3DS.

She doesn't evolve as a character because she has virtually no character to her for there to even be evolution. I'd go so far as to say that there is not a single line of dialog in the entirety of Ocarina of Time where Navi expresses any kind of relationship to Link, or even any kind of emotion.

As for Navi's departure causing the events leading up to Link's departure from Hyrule, there is no logic to it (other than a half assed excuse to make a sequel). Why does Navi leave? If Navi had a purpose for leaving, why was it not expressed? Why would Link just let her go only to change his mind and go after her? etc.

That said, I don't like Fi more because Fi actively stops the game to point out the obvious from the beginning to the end.

And Fi doesn't really evolve either. She just magically grows a soul in the last cutscene, just so that we can kill her.

I think the problem with Fi is that she's too computerized. Like...during the game she's all about the facts and stuff like that, I mean, she even takes you on a huge-ass detour in the sand place to find a clue that after you fight a scorpion, she then tells you "oh yeah, this place is useless, sorry". >_> THANKS, Fi.

I dunno, Fi had more personality than Navi I think, but the only reason she did was because she forced her way into the game whenever she could. The dowsing ability was stupid--thank you, I can find my own way, her "hints" are just puzzle spoilers--seriously, they are, and while the last scene is sad (the music was gorgeous and helped a lot with the sadness), she's just way too much of a computer for me to really be attached to her, especially all the shit she gave me during the game.

And yes, I'm always going to harp on the puzzle spoilers. That's just unacceptable in a Zelda game.

I never found Navi too useful. She got pretty annoying, and really, her only use is the escape the forest glitch. But I just like how Fi has a big part in the story. If I had to choose, it would be neither. Tatl is like Navi, but she actually takes part in the story, and has a personality. Both Fi and Navi state blunt facts. They're like floating encyclopedias, and that's no fun. And Navi doesn't gain any personality until the very end, when you're fighting Ganondorf. Fi's personality is very robotic, but it does slowly grow. I dunno.

It's unsubstantiated personal attacks like these that just really make me see your side of things.

Edit: I guess Op can break the "Keep it Civil" rule whenever he wants?

I dunno about all of you, but I like how Fi drops them percentages, even if they are completely random and some of them definitely should have been 100%. Best holographic AI companion evar. Organic Navi, is like, I dunno. She's cool, sounds adorable, has an alright personality, but like... Fi. For the win.

That's... a personal attack to you? I always considered personal attacks to be attacks that were personal. Like insulting one's family, life style, race, etc. Not questioning if they actually played a game or not.I was keeping it civil, mzx; I was just genuinely questioning whether you played the game or not, as you literally did not see how Fi blatantly changed through the game. You could have easily confirmed if you did or not. Not keeping it civil would be me actually making personal attacks at you, insulting you, or just being an ass in general.I would apologize for what could be a potential misunderstanding, but I'm not going to because you decided to go the extra mile and make my post into something it's not.

Mzx, I havent even played all of skyward sword, but with the way you talk, it really seems like you didn't play much of it before stating that fact. And Blinx wasn't being rude at all, so keep your tongue. Anyway, as for my opnion: Navi was a interesting character, to say the least. She was a partnership to Link through his hardest times and seemed to have a bit of sass to her, though she wasn't given enough dialogue to become a well rounded lovable character. I agree with Shadowfire in saying that I loved Navi, and I didn't find her constant warnings that annoying. As for Fi, she came off as one of those know-it-all bookworm anime girls that are often seen(much like the grey haired girl in Haruhi Suzumiya) But over the course of the game she started to show more "Human emotions" I guess. I, myself, haven't finished the game, but I loved her. Those are my opinions on the two characters, and basing my vote on design alone would be pointless. So I'll be neutral in this argument! :3

Another reason why Fi is better:

[3:15:36 PM] Medo: Master, there is an 87% probability that these are the droids we are looking for.

[3:17:37 PM] DeathBasket: But Fi, the nice Jedi man says they're not.

[3:17:44 PM] DeathBasket: I'm willing to be the 13%.

[3:18:17 PM] Medo: Master, there is a 100% probability your weak, organic mind is being exploited with a Jedi mind trick. Wise the fuck up, you sack of moronic jelly.
Yes, it is a reason. Sod off.

You realize I addressed BOTH of you, right? So that would mean that he is NOT an exception to the rules. No one is. I don't want to have to warn you again.

Do you realize that I if I had seen your comment I would have made a second post, not an edit? @Medo, it's this mentality that is bothering me...

You love being negative in almost every thread you post in, don't you?

and

Jeez, does that mean you don't like Zelda music, mzx?

That is honestly the only explanation that comes to mind, as ZREO's stuff is just Zelda music in a much higher quality skin.

and

It's things like this that make me question whether someone actually PLAYED a game or not.

Any time I say something that doesn't sit well with you, you have my comment deleted then yell at me for trying find out why, or you accuse me of being negative for the sake of negativity, or accuse me of not playing a game I put 40 hours into (a.k.a talking out of one's ass).Just saying.

I was just genuinely questioning whether you played the game or not, as you literally did not see how Fi blatantly changed through the game.

If it's so obvious, why don't you actually back it up with evidence? What moment in the game did you realize that the Fi wasn't the same Fi we knew from the beginning of the game? Because the only thing that sticks out to me is the last cutscene with Fi.

Maybe if you stayed on topic, which you rarely do, your posts wouldn't be hidden. Not that your posts have been hidden in a good month or so, so one occasion hardly denotes the use of a word as broad as "always." Now what exactly does the entirety of your post have anything to do with the topic, besides a microscopic input tacked onto the end of your tangent? Nothing. I have given you enough warnings already. You really need to learn how to stay on topic, this isn't the Randomness forum.

Are you mad? You seem mad.

Is that why you're taking things from completely unrelated threads to try and win ANOTHER ARGUMENT YOU STARTED?

I'm sorry you still wish to completely stretch and skew what I said.

How do you not see the difference between ACCUSING and QUESTIONING(which I did)? Like, seriously?

andIf it's so obvious, why don't you actually back it up with evidence?

I don't fucking have to. You claim to have played the game, you should know it's there; other people see it, yet you do not.

This is why I questioned you. Yes, QUESTIONED if you played; I meant nothing by it, I am just curious if you did. Again, you could have answered yes or no.

Anyways, why are you still in my thread? You've turned it into another stupid argument; don't you feel accomplished, ready to move on now?
