URA Zelda Project Restoration Thing...

The want and need of the Zelda fanbase to play URA will only fade away once someone makes an expansion for it that feels like URA. There will always be that one obsessed/interested fan, and in turn that fan will effect others. People will keep trying to resurrect it, even if a patchh hasn't been released 7 years from now making it URA's 2 decade anniversary, someone will be trying to restore it.

URA is one of those things I think personally is gonna stick around even after someone makes a patch for it or not. Not only do people still dream of playing Miyamoto's URA 13 years later, people now have an even bigger thirst since they won't get to play Zeth's URA.

Still though, people are entitled to opinions. I'm not saying mine is right.

No shit it will stick around whether a patch is made or not. I am talking about people actually creating a complete, playable mod/game over an obsession with what Nintendo never released.

The GCN's URA is dead, and only one other "team" is even trying to do something with the whole URA idea right now, and it looks like shit and will not get anywhere.

And I'm sure Zeth's looked like shit when it first started too.

Yeah, because we all know what an unreleased expansion feels like. Also, you can say it all you want, but the obsession to make URA will not last. Also, I'd like to remain on topic of the horrid expansion in the video. Thanks. Done now.

URA, like it or not, is going to keep trying to get restored. Whether some crappy hack or an actualy good project, people are going to keep trying to resurrect it. It's the holy grail for hardcore Zelda fans, and I honestly see no problem if someone wants to make their own project of it.

The problem is: a hardcore zelda fan doesn't make a hardcore programmer/designer.

I don't give a fuck what his URA looked like starting out. Lets get back on topic now, as I am freaking done debating this.

I honestly think that that video shows potential, albiet rather.... crappy potential. Iron out the bugs and the knks though, and keep map designing, who knows they could get better. But f the game ends up like in the quality and glitches shown in that video then ehhhhhhh....... I'd probably still play it briefly to take a look at it.

I really doubt it as I said, but if a couple better people joined their efforts, or even start their own, well who knows then?  I doubt it'll happen because I think this project will collapse before it gets any decent recognition.

2. Well, you kinda of brought up URA again by making this thread

See, here's the thing: I don't care. There's a difference between "Just let it die." verses "Just let it die. Now let's discuss how bad the new one is!"

In case you were wondering, too, I meant let URA as a mod die. I could give a fuck less about anyone talking about it.

Seriously guys, Medo is right. Just drop The GCN's Ura, and focus on the topic on hand here. These two things are totally different, and I will not let anymore people post offtopic.

Consider this your only warning.

There is also not much "map" to look at. The textures are repetitive and not UV mapped very neatly, and of course the polygons and collision seem to be off.

It's possible the normals are all wrong, and a lack of knowledge on both fixing it properly and adjusting video recording settings seem to be a lack-there-of.

Sorry, but if the audio was an issue, then the author should've put music over it.

Was this really part of URA's project? Seems like a joke to me.

Ura is already released. I think instead of trying to restore what parts were scraped due to the failure of the 64DD, if anything, they should go for making a Ura 2.

Because honestly all it was to be was where Ura would be to Zelda, how Final Mix is to Kingdom Hearts. Same story, few new enemies, maybe new equipment or an item. Might of only been 1 added dungeon after the game's original completion. As they did a director's cut of the previous Zelda before it. It only had 1 extra dungeon.

This is all intriguing me, Ocarina of Time would be rather messed up and unenjoyable if you screwed with the story.

I'm thinking I might attempt to Ura mix this thing.

Ura 2, or Master Quest 2 you could put it.

I'll just try to make it better than this guy's mod.

Hell, you can make it better than Master Quest and it'll be great.

The dungeons waste so much space in that "hack", it's embarrassing (I always joke the interns at Nintendo did MQ). I like to think I've fixed the worse offenders in Voyager with Water/Fire. Fire you don't even have to go into the second half of the temple, and Water is maybe two minutes long with the BK skip gift-wrapped to you.

As for story...it's difficult to write a new story with the particular cutscenes. I always attribute it to wiping a comic book clean and then rewriting using the frames given. Very hard to do. I think that when a really great tool comes out that we can make new cutscenes with, all stops will be pulled out for mods. Then people will have the freedom to REALLY make a fresh, new, full game mod.
