Oh god are you kidding me

I'm watching some documentary on Crackle called GAMERS. It's about MMO gamers ( I'm bored), and it got to this part where the guy was talking to a Zelda fan cosplaying as Link (kind of contradictory to what the documentary is about, but whatever), and they began to talk about Ganon. I guess they needed to tell me, the viewer, who he is:

I laughed. I laughed so. Fucking. Hard. For you squares that edited the documentary, you spelled Ganon wrong.

Not really. I laughed for roughly a minute and a half while it was paused on that frame. Then I snapped a photo, logged into the GCN, then made this topic. The entertainment was short-lived.

(also improved my zinger in the original post)

As an FYI: it wouldn't have been nearly as funny if the annotation didn't come off as so cocky.

I guess this spelling error will live on forever. I blame Nintendo for it though, they themselves did this mistake in their first 3 zelda games.

In LoZ they incorrectly wrote Gannon ingame, but Ganon everywhere else.

In AoL it was Gannon in both the intro and game over screen.

in ALTTP NTSC-J, Ganon's Tower was incorrectly named Gannon's Tower.

They did fix the error in LoZ for both the GC CE and Wii VC, but not in the 3DS VC.

So yeah, nintendo brought it upon themselves. Still, a gamer that attempts to provide facts (and in such a manner), they should at least make sure that they're spelling the names correctly.

CloudMax, I like pie.
This is going to blow your mind, I bet: I didn't post this in the randomness board. Now stop spamming my topic, please.

Mmmmhmmm. *snaps fingers like a diva*

Sorry to say this, but this topic is kind of pointless; It is based of a single typo after all. But sorry any ways.

Right, says the one constantly spamming threads on the GCN with short, pointless-to-the-topic posts (nobody calls you out for it, really, and it's about god damn time someone does). You're one to talk, certainly. Just because you find it pointless, you feel like you can take it upon yourself to try and derail the topic?

This board is General Gaming. That means ALL gaming discussion is allowed (hence the word "general"), even if you yourself may find some of it pointless. Grow the hell up and find something better to do than spam topics you do not like. I mean, Christ, if you don't like the topic, it's either you just ignore it or freaking ignore it. Those are your options.

Hypocritically spamming it with a pointless post, then complaining about how pointless the topic is? Yeah, don't do that. That's just stupid.

Sorry I'm coming off so harsh, but the hypocrisy in your post angered me.

Okay.

EDIT:

Nah, forget it. This topic is already ruined. Someone lock it. I swear to God, it's becoming a common theme (not too common, mind you, but it's getting there) on the GCN for someone to come along and fuck up topics I make (when someone sees something like this in one, you just know whatever chance there was of then posting has been lowered), resulting in me requesting for them to be locked.

I'll be sure to remind myself to only participate in topics here on the GCN from now on, rather than create.

Conker, I consider you a buddy of mine (especially having bonded over our hatred of Sarkeesian, heh), so I think it's more pertinent for me to ask you: please stop throwing fits and requesting to get your topics locked when stuff like this happens. Was Nmoyd's post spammy? Yes; this is indeed the Gaming section, and this does revolve around gaming no matter how minute some people may consider the subject manner, thus such a post didn't belong here. But on the other side of that coin, when you get confrontational and snarky, you help to destroy any chance your topic has to thrive at all; but then again, all chances are flat out destroyed when you keep shutting down and giving up on your threads.

I apologize if this post may seem harsh, but I'm not trying to be an asshole to you; I just think that this sort of attitude doesn't help the flow of discussions on forums (nor your character in other people's eyes), and I like you man, but... I'm sorry, I think you really needed to finally be called out on this.

Now, on to the main topic: I remember seeing that part of it, and it did come off at contemptuous and condescending, making it hilarious; the typo is just the icing on the cake.

I have an idea. How about you all kiss and make up?

I'm serious.

Kiss.

Now, topic remaining open... because quite frankly, in spite of the off-topicness, the original basis for the topic is relevant. Ganon's name being spelt incorrectly is just... ergh... it makes me laugh, but not in a good way.

"Gannon" does seem like a kind of laughable name. Funny how one extra "n" can change a name from being badass to assbad.

But hell, at least "Gannon" isn't nearly as bad a misnomer as the semi-infamous "Kerog".

a: His name had been established as "Bowser" for years up to the publication of this book (1999).

b: Where in the blue buttfuck did "Kerog" come from?

It wasn't the spam that set me off (I even kindly asked him to stop the first time), it was him having the audacity to tell me this topic is pointless when a great deal of his posts on this website are short, off-topic posts that are meant to derail people's topics (most I've seen, anyways). I mean, really, he can spam and it'd be annoying, but not so bad, and I'd just ask for it to stop, but when it gets to that level, it pisses me off.

The reason I reply the way I do, is because posts like those make me feel like I have to reply (and when I do, you see how it ends up). But eh, you're right. It just makes shit worse. Always. And no, you're not the first to call me out on it. Plenty of people here have on Skype already. And, honestly, if people think less of my character because I get mad at someone for being an absolute prick, good for them. It seriously doesn't matter too much to me.

Anyways, seeing as you see me as a buddy (as do I you), I appreciate that. Thank you. Hope you didn't think any less of me, or whatever (maybe you did, I dunno. It's fine).

Yeah, typos. And stuff. Boo Gannon. Yay Ganon.

In the parlance of jazz, a square was a person who failed to appreciate the medium, more broadly someone who was out of date or out of touch, hence the saying "be there or be square".

I think you are thinking of a different kind of square than this particular instance. I thought it was humorous myself, since when do we have to take everything so seriously?

Well, I define it by its original meaning. I think that was a saying to nerds/geeks in the 70's, or some sort.
