http://projectmgame.com/en/   THE FULL ROSTER

Fan favorites Roy, Mewtwo, Samus, Kirby, Yoshi, Ice-Climbers and Olimar all return in top form. With this landmark update not only completing the original Brawl roster, but expanding it to a massive 41 characters, we’ve chosen to shed the “DEMO†moniker from our title. However, please be aware that this is not yet Project M’s final or “gold†release – everything is still subject to refinement for now.

TURBO MODE

This new release includes "Turbo Mode," a game type in Special VS which allows any character to interrupt moves once they’ve connected with an opponent. Chain attacks together to create Turbo speed combos limited only by your imagination and dexterity. Additionally, you can also gain short spurts of Turbo Mode within normal VS play by picking up the Turbo Curry item. Play it your way: mix it in to your normal item play or have fun in the full-time Turbo Mode.

ALTERNATE COSTUMES & COLORS

But that's not all! This release also includes alternate costumes and colors for various characters. Please note that the current distribution of alternate costumes is not perfectly “balanced†or “fair,†-- we have limited modeling time and limited memory space, so we’ve tried to hit some of the costumes that we think will be the most popular first, and will continue adding costumes in future releases as time and space allow. Thanks for your understanding, and enjoy the first batch of costumes.

AN IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION FOR 3-4 PLAYER FIGHTS

There is one minor but important issue that we have to discuss for competitive play. Due to the slightly-flawed model importer that we have to use – which we are currently working on replacing – new models including Roy, Mewtwo, and all new alt costumes have a higher tendency to create gameplay lag than Brawl’s original models despite utilizing similar polygon counts. This is not an issue in singles play in most cases but in doubles more than two new player models on screen at once can potentially create noticeable lag. Again, this is something that we’re actively working on addressing, we'll have more details on the specific instances of lag for Tournament Operators to look at and make judgment calls on rules soon. We apologize for this inconvenience and hope to have this resolved in future releases. In the meantime, we have included warning icons on each costume's character portrait that has the potential to induce any amount of lag for players and TOs.

This is the best Smash Bros. game available to the world. If you haven't heard about or played it, but have a Wii, Brawl, and a 2GB SD card, then enjoy! Project M hybridizes the best of Brawl, the best of Melee, and evolves it into something amazing. There hasn't been a tighter, more enjoyable Smash Bros. experience before. This is it.

Hyyypeeeeeee. Didn't expect to see a thread about it here, even though this is a modding size.

I have to agree that this is the best damn smash bros. game out there. It beats Melee in my eyes.

A lot of people refuse to ever accept something as better than Melee, and I'm okey with that, but to me, this beats it any day.

Edit:

The first 2 zip files I've downloaded so far has been corrupt. Very annoying considering the size of it...

Damn man. I wonder if it's a server issue. I had the fortune of downloading it immediately upon announcement via the projectmelee twitter, for their site was down. If you continue having problems, I'll see if I can forward the file to you. This can't be missed!

I was thinking earlier how I never honed my skills at Melee, picking up Smash competitively with Brawl. This evolves Brawl with respect to Melee in such a refined manner, and with a robust 41-character roster, excellent stages, and perhaps the most balanced metagame in the series to date, it really stands out above its predecessors.

Hope you get it working asap. OH! To note. I first tried a 1GB SD card and I could not advance beyond the stage select screen. 2GB works best.

I finally got it to work yesterday. It appears that it was their servers causing the issues. The first two times I downloaded, it went very, very slow. ~45min to download. 3rd time everything went smooth.

I used the same 2GB SD Card as always for it, so that didn't cause me any issues either :)

I love all the small changes that they've made to improve the game. And not just the actual gameplay, even small things like the costumes. They show which costume number it is, etc. I would never have thought to include such a thing in the costume picture.

They're really doing a great job in improving brawl.

I did not play it that much though. Yesterday Hearthstone (a game I am playing a lot) released a new patch with an all new ladder and ranking system, etc. so I spent all day playing that instead.

Don't go the installer route. It's easier to download the nohomebrew zip (unless you have homebrew). Just unzip and copy the folder contents over. Be sure to delete all custom stages before inserting the SD card!

I've been having a blast with Mewtwo.

Wow, the changes are fantastic! It just feels so fluid and fast paced and the new movesets feel so good. The alternate costumes are pretty awesome too, was surprised to see Toon Links "Second Quest" clothing! Anyone who is thinking about trying Project M out, you really should, and it's not like any of the changes are permanent.

A couple of tips, don't push random characters when you have two or more CPU players. It crashes the game well over half the time. If you want to complete any events, do them in the normal game. Not Project M. They replaced some maps with others e.g. Skyloft, sandbag testing area, etc... and it glitches, or just straight up crashes. Otherwise, IT'S AWESOME!! :D

Project M is optimally designed for multiplayer. The single player modes have yet to be ironed out so no guarantee it'll work. Classic Mode seems to be fine, though I wonder what happens if you win with Mewtwo and Roy... do you get the congratulations screen for Lucario and Marth? I know Mewtwo and Roy are not accounted for in the game records, attributing to Lucario and Marth's overall scores.

I think I recall them recieveing Mario Statues in the modes to prevent crashes. At least I think that's what they said in a post a while ago when they explained some stuff about the clone engine.

I am not sure about where the highscores are saved. Either over the character they're cloned from, or Mario. Maybe it's not saved at all?

But yeah, Project M is solely for Multiplayer, but they have tried to keep at least Classic Mode compatible.

I would super rape everyone with Kirby. You must (if you do not have someone capable of such things) find somebody to take an open source emulator and make a custom one for online gaming. Then I will make you all cry tears of defeat hehehe

Your on! If they ever make one of those online emulators for the Game Cube or Wii I'm totally down for some Super Smash beat downs. You've better watch out though, I'm a pro with Roy and his cosmic exploding sword.
