Zeth Ryder
The Nintendo 3DS is receiving a huge price drop from August 12th onwards. But, if you’ve already purchased a 3DS or don’t want to wait for the price drop, then don’t worry, you’re not losing out on the goodness. Early adopters will be able to download a total of twenty games from the Virtual Console service for free. These freebies are split between the NES and the Game Boy Advance. Meaning, you’ll be able to download ten NES games and ten Game Boy Advance games. And yes, this also confirms that Game Boy Advance games are coming to the Virtual Console. But, early adopters will be able to download games that Nintendo doesn’t plan to make available for regular folk. These games include: Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 Mario Kart: Super Circuit Metroid Fusion WarioWare Inc.: Minigame Mania Mario vs. Donkey Kong The NES games will be available for free from September 1st onwards, with the Game Boy Advance games being available before the end of the year. My lord, yes! I am glad I got mine before the price drop. But here's the thing, is it ten NES games + the GBA? Or are we limited to a max of ten total, regardless of type? Shadow Fire
Despite the Australian Dollar being superior to the American Dollar at the moment, our prices are confirmed to be dropping to $248AUD. I'm glad I bought mine on eBay... Besides, the AU version wouldn't work with my US version of OOT3D.
xdaniel
And according to Amazon Germany, the 3DS' Euro price is gonna drop to 168,99 €. Although seeing how $170 USD are currently a mere ~119 €, getting a US system then might be the cheaper alternative in the long run, despite having to import all games. DeathBasket
Nintendo is to cut the price of 3DS worldwide in the next few weeks in order to "accelerate its market penetration toward the year-end sales season" Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has said. What that means for UK gamers is that from August 12th, 3DS' price will be reduced by a third, although price points will ultimately be decided by retailers. In Japan, it will be cut from August 11th from the current suggested price of 25,000 Yen (around £197) to 15,000 (around £118). Existing 3DS owners will be rewarded with free eShop downloads as part of a new 3DS Ambassador Programme. I don't know what the price will actually drop to here, RRP is currently around £230 (about $380 USD). Getting a few free games sounds nice though.
