Shadow Fire
"There's nothing we can do now!" Zorn yelled. "We shall depart!"
Sollux Captor
"Depart, shall we!" "Run away!" They both cried out, and jumped off the airship, seeming to use the poofiness of their hats as a parachute of some sort in order to land safely, as the Black Waltz took control of their ship, seeming to have lost its mind. Shadow Fire
The Black Waltz hissed as it took control of the ship. "I exist only to kill! I exist only to kill! I exist only to kill! I exist only to kill...!" Back on the other airship, Zidane glanced around. "Dagger..." he said softly. "Do you see South Gate?"
Sollux Captor
"Yes, I do." She nodded, looking out of the broken window in front of her, keeping her eyes on South Gate, glimpsing over at Vivi every now and then, since the little one seemed stuck staring at the hat of the mages. Shadow Fire
"Alright..." Zidane said. "We don't have clearance. They might close the gate on us. It should be okay, though. Security was totally lax when I came through here on the theater ship. It'll be fine, Captain Dagger!" He cast a glance out at Vivi. The mage looked so vulnerable. Sollux Captor
"Roger!" She replied in earnest. It was the first time she had ever flown an airship, and she was not doing a bad job at it. Vivi heard Steiner freak out about something, as he was heading for the captain's room.
Shadow Fire
Steiner explained, or rather yelled, that the Black Waltz was in pursuit and that they should turn around. Zidane argued that the cargo ship would never outmaneuver the Black Waltz. Steiner, grudgingly agreeing, helped boost the ship. "Vivi!" Zidane suddenly yelled out. "Black Waltz is...!" The Black Waltz fired a Thundara attack towards the cargo ship.
Sollux Captor
Vivi managed to duck a bit, only to find that the hat he had been watching this whole time had gone flying through the air and into the abyss below, causing him to reach out for it rather desperately, but he wasn't going to be able to catch it from where he was. He finally turned his attention back to the ship that had began to hover menacingly in front of them, as he narrowed his eyes, in both determination and exhaustion. A lightning attack was being aimed at them once more, as Vivi summoned a fire spell, which cancelled out the two spells, and caused Black Waltz No. 3 to lose his grip on the steering wheel and fell back some. Feeling rather drained, both from the two fights against the Black Waltz and from that spell, he ended up falling over, shuddering a bit.
Shadow Fire
"Vivi!" Zidane called out, rushing out from the bridge, and helping Vivi up. Giving a slight smile, he suddenly growled as he noticed the Black Waltz's ship soaring towards them again. As they entered South Gate, the ship suddenly shuddered. Sollux Captor
Vivi felt a blast of air had caught the two of them, as he clung to Zidane as tightly as he could, as his arms were tight against him, as Zidane had a grip against the railing. Shadow Fire
The Black Waltz prepared to fire another Thundara spell, and Zidane threw his arms around Vivi and clutched him close to his chest, eyes closing. This... is it... The attack never came, as the Black Waltz's energy backfired and set his ship on fire, causing it to spiral out of control. Moment's later, the cargo ship shot through the gate and into Lindblum.
Sollux Captor
Vivi slowly opened his eyes, as he looked up at the other male. "T...Thank you..."
Shadow Fire
Zidane gave a smile, before slowly releasing Vivi and helping him to his feet. "I think we pushed it a little too hard..." he murmured, looking around as he noticed nobody was talking. "Why so silent, people? We made it! Come on, cheer up!" Sollux Captor
"South Gate was badly damanged.... it was my fault, wasn't it?" Dagger seemed a little worried. Vivi was leaning against the doorway, seeming a little worn out.
Shadow Fire
"Don't worry about it!" Zidane said confidently. "They'll fix it up in no time." Steiner glared at him. "You idiot!" he hissed. "The cargo ship was wrecked, we lost all the cargo, and South Gate was destroyed! I can't believe I played a part in this debacle!" Sollux Captor
"Steiner." Dagger managed to get the knight's attention, making him shut up. "I didn't mean to get you involved... But you saved us. I thank you."
Shadow Fire
Steiner blinked, before tears began appearing in his eyes. "Such kind words!" he blubbered. "I am not worthy! Well, now I've made up my mind! I vow to protect you, Princess, until we return to the castle!" Zidane gave a soft chuckle. "How do you feel about that, Dagger?" he laughed. "He'll follow you to the end of the world."
Sollux Captor
"It's okay, Zidane." Dagger smiled, as they seemed pleased that Lindblum was right ahead of them. Vivi was seeming to space out a little, feeling if he kept his thoughts in any longer, he was going to cry. "Z...Zidane... um... those black mages and I... well... are we the same?" Shadow Fire
Zidane was caught off guard, so he didn't answer immediately, but Steiner piped up. "I don't understand, Master Vivi..." the knight said comfortingly. "Just what seems to be the problem...?"
Sollux Captor
"...I really don't know..." Vivi looked down, seeming rather ashamed. He wasn't supposed to be so worried about this...
Shadow Fire
Steiner shook his head. "Master Vivi, why would those mages be the same as you?" he asked. "And why would it matter if they were...?" Zidane gave a warm smile. "Yeah..." he said. "Rusty's right!" Steiner blinked in shock. Zidane actually agreed with him? Zidane chuckled, before turning to Vivi. "Vivi..." he said softly. "You're an individual, no matter what happens!"
Sollux Captor
"Um... r-right...." Vivi gave a small nod... He was different... he didn't want to hurt people like the mages that they had seen. He suddenly saw Zidane run to the deck, calling for him to come with him. "H-Huh? Why?"
Shadow Fire
Running back, Zidane grabbed a hold of Vivi's hand and pulled him out on deck. "You've gotta see Lindblum from above!" he exclaimed. "It's the best! Look, the Falcon's Gate is right in front of us!"
Sollux Captor
Vivi squeezed his hand, as they looked over at the city from above, his eyes seeming to go shiney... It was beautiful... the sun shining so brightly on the city, giving it a heavenly glow. It was the opposite of the city of eternal night, Treno, where he grew up near. He looked over at Zidane, a little blush hiding under his hat. He could see why Zidane was raised in Lindblum... he seemed to shine just as brightly as the city. Shadow Fire
Zidane gave a slight smile, though he still hadn't let go of Vivi's hand. He simply didn't realise he was still holding it. He watched as the cargo ship flew towards the castle, and docked.
