HELP!!! Does anyone know how to get TF2 to work on a netbook?

I've just purchased a new netbook and I've seen people on youtube get it running on a worse computer then my own. So i've been trying to get it to work on my new computer and nothing seems to work. if anyone knows how to get it to work, please tell me.

Are you getting any error messages? Are you using Steam or a standalone copy?

I'm using Steam and there is no error messages. It just has glitched textures, slow fps, and unplayable streched character models. I know for sure people with worse computers get it to work on their computers. I just don't know what to do to get it to work.

Well, that is pretty odd, and I am not sure what could be done.

Maybe update your graphics drivers? Or who knows, your netbook may be better than others, but it could be possible that it has bad comparability with the game.

The only conclusion I can come to is compatibility issues.

I've made some progress with it. Now up to 39 fps on average and I can see player hats, lol. Still wierd textures and stretched character models (although being able to see hats makes the game much more playable) .

I've tried to get the HL2 demo to run on my netbook as a test, and it ran perfectly. I think something might of went wrong when I downloaded TF2.

Not necessarily. Just because they're both running on the Source Engine, doesn't mean they would give the exact same results.

Team Fortress 2 is a much newer game, whereas Half Life 2 is years older; the newer game using more stylized visuals, and is more optimized for better hardware.

(probably not, but it's just a guess)

 

But anything is worth a shot. So yes, try downloading again and see what happens. I hope it ends up working for you! Maybe we can play sometime.

I've got it fixed without having to re-downloading it

Although, for some reason, my character's gun is invisible.

I'll try to get that fixed soon.

 

Edit: Hand thing is fixed, so all is good
