I don't see that at all:

If the purple/orange thing is the "ghost", then I can disprove that. It's covering up the HUD and it's pattern looks like part of clip-art on the magazine page this was taken from went over this image. There's another image with clip-art going over an image:

I agree it also does not seem to fit into the pixelation of the game in those pictures either

Not to mention the fact it just does not fit in

No offense, but I think it was already obvious to some people that the purple thing was just part of the concept art and not part of the screenshot.
